Kendall’s Restaurant

The whole table each had the small chicken-​fried steak dinner, and it was more then enough to fill us up! The steak is perfectly breaded, the potatoes (mashed, and french fries) are just like grandma use to make. I only had one issue, the green beans (They tasted beefy, but that’s a personal preference). Nevertheless, the food and service was amazing.

Not exactly sure how I come to hear about this place but sure am glad I did!!! My family and I came in after a Sooners game and the wait was minimal. The service was impeccable. I really wasn’t sure how the novelty of this place would translate to their food but I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first bite into my Chicken Fried Steak. I now have a go to place if ever in Southern Oklahoma. Thank you Kendall’s for doing it right!!!

Great food. Service was outstanding. The waitress had a great sense of humor too. Made sure we were taken care of and everything was tasting good. The food portion was big.

Group of 7 dined on a Wednesday night. Service was fast. Chicken Fried Steak, Hamburger and Catfish were all delicious. Highlight was the server Kirsten who provided great service but could «dish» it back to one of the guests dining with us who likes to be funny and witty… he met his match in her… Fun outing.

The hype is real.
The wait was short even for a Friday evening and we were served quickly and the server was very polite.
I had the thousand island dressing and would recommend it to anyone even if you are a ranch enthusiast. The chicken fried steak was incredible, huge, and hot! Everything was served fresh and was a great experience overall.
I traveled 70 miles to come eat here and would do it again anytime!

I’m leaving my 1 star review of April 25, 2015 up because that event did occur as I described. But, I wrote a letter to Kendall’s, and received a very sincere response by the majority owner. I feel the situation has been handled well and will return to Kendall’s in the future. So, back to my previous 4 star rating, and looking forward to getting a chicken fried steak soon.

This place is a must try! The chicken fried steak is the best I have ever eaten. The cinnamon rolls were to die for. Great service. Small town feel. We loved it.

The fried catfish was just okay. The chicken fry was large and good, you could cut it with a fork, but it wasn’t legendary. The service was fast. The cinnamon roll was pretty small. Not sure I would make the drive to go back again.

I came here with high expectations and they were met! The chicken fried steak was so good! I got the light portion and it was more than enough. Everyone who got the full portion had leftovers to take home because the portions are huge.
The biscuits were also another standout — came out hot and fluffy. I was not a fan of the cinnamon rolls. They came free with the meal and smothered in sugar… too much sugar in fact. I felt a cavity coming on while eating it.
Service was great and I liked the homey feel of the restaurant. It’s totally worth the drive from OKC for me!

Food was good but the worst service I have encountered. The dining room was fairly empty but we didn’t see our waiter for 10 minute intervals. He said a total of 15 words the whole visit and my water was empty halfway through and was not filled once. The table next to us sat for 5 minutes before he took their drink order because he was sitting on the front bench talking to a friend. I will not visit here again because they give the vibe that it is a privilege to eat there, it’s sad to have seen this happen to a great restaurant.

If you’re looking for the best chicken fried steak in Oklahoma, look no further! It is seriously the best I’ve ever had. But beware! The portions are ENORMOUS! If you want a normal portion, get the light/​small. Otherwise, good luck finishing it. All the homestyle sides are good, and leave room for their signature cinnamon rolls! Also, it’s cash only.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere. I believe that this is the best chicken fry in Oklahoma! Perfect blend of batter and meat, not like the other guys where you are searching for the meat, perfect. Cinnamon rolls for desert are to die for.

Outstanding service and great tasting food! I would recommend this place to all my friends and plan in going back to try done of the other menu items!!!

What can I say about Kendall’s that hasn’t already been said?
I am from MN but my people hail from down south so a love of fried anything is pretty much in my blood. Given that, I just had to try Kendall’s famous chicken fried steak during a recent visit to family in OK.
It was a mixed bag.
Friendly, competent service. Lots of staff there so though they were very busy everything seemed to proceed smoothly.
Three different sizes of the famous chicken fried steak. No one in our party of 11 ordered the largest size. Two who ordered the «original» size took about half home in a doggy bag. As I was from out of town I took one for the team and nearly exploded by finishing my whole «original» sized serving.
The accompaniments were basic and uninspired. Routine salad to start. Lettuce was crisp & I think there was a cherry tomato so that helped. Mashed potatoes with the consistency and flavor of instant. Canned-​tasting and textured green beans. I think the sausage gravy disappointed me the most. Its texture was gelatinous, like it was cornstarch based rather than flour, and its flavor was bland. And there was a lot of it which would have been perfectly ok had it had more flavor and a thicker texture. I ended up scraping much of it off.
The chicken fried steak made up for all of that, however. I love chicken fried steak and this was the best I have had, I think. The breading was crispy and the whole thing appeared freshly prepared which leads me to believe every time I’ve had this elsewhere it was made from a frozen patty, whereas Kendall’s version was so much better– more flavorful, crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside.
Our party also ordered a couple different burgers and the catfish prepared two different ways; one blackened and one breaded and fried. All of those meals were devoured too!
Give it a try when you are in the area for a visit!

Let me first say I was not inclined to dine at Kendall’s, having to travel from Norman where lots of quality food establishments reside. But after prodding from my wife, we traveled the short distance to Kendall’s and OMG! This place far exceeded my expectations — the Chicken Fried Steak is delicious and should be patented, the Hamburger Steak is fabulous and the cinnamon roll desert is a wonder to behold. I’m not sure I have enough superlatives to describe it. The local Kendall’s is classic downtown rural American diner and is patronized well by locals — enough said. No alcohol served, «too close to the church“‘ but the tea is great. You will not regret the short drive.

This is simply awesome country style food. The chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious with a good ratio of breading to meat. The gravy was peppery and flavorful. This also came with a buttery biscuit. In addition you get a free cinnamon roll with any order but since I shared with a friend they gave 2 no extra charge. The cinnamon roll didn’t look great but when I tried it… oh.my.god …amazing! Ooey gooey cinnamon insanity. I loved this place. I highly recommend it. Cash or check only!!! Not a happy surprise when it came time to pay so plan ahead.

Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes w/​gravy, southern style green beans, and fried okra! Classic! Their catfish is pretty good as well. (Not a fan of their cinnamon rolls — too mushy for me.)

This place has been a Noble classic for a long time. Never had a bad meal. The chicken fried steaks are quite large but very good. I usually go for the lite portion and it is plenty for me. Had the catfish today. It was very good. The fish was not at all «fishy». Every meal is topped off with cinnamon rolls so save room. Note: no credit cards! There is an ATM across the way.

This place had Some of the best home cooking I have had in this area.
Great down home feel, the service was great and the food was delivered fast and hot.
Get the chicken fried steak but it is not for the weak at heart, it is definitely a man sized portion.

You will never find a better chicken fried steak. This thing is so big that it fills the plate and folds over! You can get the «light» order and never leave hungry! The all you can eat catfish is simply incredible.
Dont forget to save room for the handmade cinnamon rolls that come hot to the table for dessert!
Highly recommend you make the short drive for this incredible meal. It is one of my favorite places to eat anywhere near OKC!
