I attended a wedding here last year. The property is charming and rustic, and the barn was really cute. It definitely has the rustic theme down. Shade is sparse, so keep your ceremony short and sweet so you don’t cook grandma in the sun. Skip the live musicians. Unfortunately the food situation was pretty bad, as the young teenagers serving the reception meal had been instructed to give 1″ x 2″ portions of the main entrée… despite there being enough to feed the entire wedding several times over. Some guests and wedding party members asked for more and were told to go to the end of the line. Instead of suffering that embarrassment, they just went back to their tables with their half empty plates and grumbled. Before long, the entrée was cold and only 20% of it had been used. 80% was utterly wasted(I doubt it was cheap either). So make other plans if you actually want your guests to have a real meal. For whatever reason, they’d rather throw away the food than serve your guests.

This is a great place to have an event! Our guest were definitely wowed and everyone said they loved our wedding and I’m sure most of that was love for this incredibly unique venue. Additionally, we had so much fun! You can personalize the space here and choose where you want to have your ceremony and reception. We chose to have our ceremony by the house, cocktail hour on the back patio, and to have the reception later in the barn. We also decided to keep the barn closed until our right before our reception started. Of course all these little things will cost you a bit extra, and that makes me mention the cost. It’s not the cheapest place to have your event but it sure is convenient. And Judy is easy to work with and hosts weddings and events at her place pretty much every weekend. She knows the routine and knows what looks good. We needed little extras and she made all of our dreams a reality. These little extras can be rented from her at an additional cost. Examples we used– votives for the tables, vintage pillars and old church window for our alter, table for guestbook, etc. We also let her set up and design our dessert table and it was adorable! She’s a collector and there are so many unique things you can rent that will really make your day stand out. I highly recommend this place for a wedding venue. And if you go see and adore it I suggest you book early! The weekends fill up FAST. If you do, you and your guests will have a grand time!

The Dana-Powers House and Barn are both charming wedding venues that can go from shabby chic to simply stunning. We had an October wedding at the barn and it was perfect. The ceremony lawn is set upon a gorgeous backdrop of rolling hills, and the reception inside the barn is just breathtaking. Judi Powers will really take care of you and make your wedding everything you’ve dreamed of! Photos Ceremony(also a lot of getting ready, etc, sorry…): Reception:
