I have eaten at this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. Living in Morro Bay makes it a long drive, but after trying several other Chinese places on the coast, this one is my choice. I would eat here more often if I lived closer. Always had good service as well.

Tried takeout tonight for the first time and found it to be just really bad food, not sure how else to put it. Bad flavors, gross meat that didn’t at all resemble chicken and just kinda gross. Nipomo has extremely limited dining options, but I will never go back to the golden dragon.

The absolute best egg rolls bar none… curry chicken is unmatched in quality and taste… the egg flower soup is the best ever… you cannot match this pork szechwan(sp) anywhere for its delicious taste… mongolian beef, omg so yummy!!! spareribs with black been sauce, tender and tasty… vegetables are always fresh and cooked tender yet slightly crisp… love the pan fried noodles, these you cannot get anywhere else… my dad and husband give Ben’s sweet n sour chicken a 5 star taste and quality… Ben is an excellent chef… consistent quality… he peeks out his window to see if we’re there and misses us if we’re not… Mary is always excellent service with her her cute dimpled smile… Ruby does everything from serve in the restaurant, prep in the kitchen to sweep the back room and everything in between… Ruby and Ben are quite the team in making their restaurant run at a 5 star! No other Chinese food restaurant in this area that can hold a candle to the quality and taste of Golden Dragon!

Living in San Luis Obispo the restaurant is a distance to get to. It’s a 30 minute drive for me. If your driving Northbound or Southbound and in Nippomo give it a try. The Pork Fried Rice is good. Chicken Lomein tasty. Orange Chicken is lightly battered and sauce is good. The service is really good.

Good quality local Chinese food. Soup was good. Chow mein not too greasy. Vegetables fresh. Good beer. Would have liked brown rice but otherwise great.

If you had read my prior review of the Golden Dragon, here in the burgeoning metropolis of Nipomo, you may have heard that I was somewhat disappointed. It could be because I had ordered the food to go. Last night, my wife and I decided to give them one more chance to redeem themselves. This time, however, we opted to dine in. We ordered a few different dishes, and an appetizer. I was prepared for a second dose of disappointment. I was very pleasantly surprised when the eggrolls arrived, piping hot and apparently hand-made! They were a real treat! The other 3 dishes arrived shortly after, and I was again pleasantly surprised. The Beef with Ginger and Onions was very ‘gingery’ and tasty, but mostly it had lots of large pieces of good beef! The Orange Chicken came in a bed of very well steamed fresh broccoli, and was very good, with just a little batter and large chunks of chicken. Finally, although unremarkable, the vegetable fried rice was adequate. There was also a large bowl of steamed rice. The downside was that we arrived at about 5PM on a weeknight, and there were only about 4 other people in the place, at that time, yet between the time we were seated, got water, ordered, about 15 minutes had passed. Once the food started arriving, all was speedy and timely. We noticed that, as the evening wore on, and more parties of people began to arrive, service went in the opposite direction. We noted a couple of parties actually got so hungry waiting to order, that they actually left the place. So, although my review of the food is better, the timeliness and efficiency of the service is very lacking. There seems to be one ‘experienced’ waitress and one ‘trainee’ waitress, at least on Tuesday night. Perhaps some managerial oversight would tend to boost this restaurants nightly income.

The food is good, not delicious but good. The waitress was really nice, very great customer service. I ordered the shrimp chop suey. It is very good but they only put like 4 shrimps on my plate. the plate comes with fried rice and an egg roll. I recommend the egg rolls! They are yummy.

Their food is very good, especially their sizzling rice soup, and combination fried rice and combination chow mein. Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, very clean restaurant, and always enjoyable to eat there. The only problem is they only have canned soda rather than fountain soda. This place would be absolutely perfect with fountain soda! :D

We got take out and we have many times over the years. The food had always been fair to good. I don’t know what they have changed but now I would rate it excellent. The veggies were fresh and spiced well, the fried egg rolls and shrimp were not greasy and the soup had great flavor. Please keep up the great standard of food quality. We will eat here more often and provide follow up reviews.

I am only giving three stars because every time I’ve came into the restaurant the service has been good except for one time. This one time this young, I’m guessing new, waitress got our drinks and asked us when she was putting down a wine glass down, «what if I dropped some wine on your babies head?» As he was sleeping in his car seat. It completely caught us by surprise and it was completely weird. Don’t say that to costumers. Period. Hah especially when you are talking about their newborn. Food wise, eh they are okay I guess. I would personally rather go to Panda Express. But hey, their fried shrimp is okay. They do give you canned soda FYI. I’ve been here multiples times just because my sons father is obsessed with it for some reason I do not know. Haha

The food was just alright. And I was really craving crab Rangoon, but they didn’t have any. Bummer!

After looking up restaurants in Nipomo I discovered that there was a Chinese restaurant in Nipomo! I was afraid to try it because of the reviews claiming that it was expensive and the service was bad. I went in and was seated immediately which is rare and was able to choose where I wanted to sit which is rare as well. I was then given hot tea and some great recommendations on what was good from the two waitresses working at the time(Mary and Kenya). Their recommendations were spot on and delicious I had the dinner special with Mongolian beef and steamed rice which came with a soup and a variety of different appetizers for less than fifteen dollars! It was busy at the time I had gone in but these two ladies checked up on me and kept smiles on their faces. Thank you for such a great experience!

I just went in there to get hot and sour soup and some chow mein. I just moved to Nipomo so I am getting used to the new environment and restaurants. It’s Wednesday at 2:00 and the lady who helped me was really helpful. Gave me some recommendations and the food came quickly. It’s only a 4 minute drive from my house so I might be back if I have a soup craving again :)

My husband & I moved to Nipomo two years ago & until yesterday had no idea there was a Chinese restaurant here! They need to work on advertising :) Overall my husband and I enjoyed our meal. The only thing we were disappointed in was the Pu Pu Plater. The fried food was oily & the rib was dry. The only thing good on it was the paper wrapped chicken. For our entrées we ordered sesame chicken(not sweet… YAY!), shredded pork with veggies in garlic sauce & chicken fried rice. Very good! We had plenty to bring home for lunch & possibly another dinner! The waitress Kenya was sweet, but doesn’t seem she’s worked there long. She didn’t let us know that the meal came with steamed rice(come on… there was only two of us) & had to ask the other waitress for her opinion when we asked her what she would ordered given two choices. Overall it was a good experience & we’ll definitely go back. Just next time we won’t order so much food or we’ll bring a bigger group with us!

We loved our waitress… she didn’t rush us at all. We came in late on a Sunday, 8:30. She made sure we were happy with our choices. I can’t believe some of the reviews that were left… we had a great experience! We will be returning in the future!

A local told us about this place. I had the Mongolian Beef and my wife the pork chow mein with pan fried noodles. Pan fried noodles are very hard to find anymore. Food was good and service fair as they were very busy. Best Chinese food in the area.

Terrible food. The potstickers were deep fried, rather than steamed/pan-fried. When I bit into them grease drained down onto my plate. They were hollow except for hard pellets of porky-substance inside. I enjoyed the war wonton soup except they add way too much MSG. All the dishes seemed to taste the same: salt, sugar, msg. Everything was drowning in sauce so that you couldn’t taste the actual food. The BBQ Pork appetizer arrived smothered in gross sweet/salty brown sauce. That is just wrong! I mean, google«chinese bbq pork» images and you will not see it swimming in brown sauce anywhere on the planet. I know, because I actually did that just to see if maybe it was a regional variation(like Kentucky or Alabama). The lo mein had red food coloring added to it. Whatever. Eating this food was like eating a Big Mac, if it came smothered in a bowl of special sauce. I took a few bites of each entrée and couldn’t eat any more. And too expensive for such poor quality. This stuff belongs in the food court of some horrible failing mall.
