Grinders are huge! Quality meats and breads. My fav is the roast beef with homemade horse radish mayo but I’ve never had less then delicious. It’s a real great mom and pops place!

Well, I know why they call is Hartford Giant Grinders… These suckers are HUGE! We walked in and saw other patrons eating what we thought were full sandwiches, so I ordered half of an Italian Combo… thinking I would get half of what I saw. NOPE! Their half grinder is as big as a whole sandwich haha! It was probably 12 inches long, and stacked with meat. Plus, all of the toppings, which made it even bigger. It was delicious though, so no complaints about the food! And the oil and vinegar just put it over the top, flavor-wise. My only complaints are that they were a little slow getting orders out, and there is very limited seating. They were pretty busy inside and with call in orders, so I suppose that it is understandable, but not very convenient if you are in a hurry and just drop in on a whim. I will be going back if we are in the area.

I don’t know about the food, but the service is awful. Unless your are ordering a meal for multiple people, you must pay with cash instead of a debit card… must make a minimum purchase or they are happy to walk your business. Unbelievable.

Worked next door for two years, not knowing this place was even here, and boy do I regret missing out on their sandwiches all this time. Yesterday was my first experience here and the buffalo turkey(turkey cooked in house) was absolutely phenomenal. Being my first time one of the workers, offered me a sample of the in house cooked roast beef with a side of their homemade horseradish mayo, and that made the decision for what I ordered today: the steak and cheese with onions, peppers, and horseradish mayo, and I just have to say with total certainty, I have a new staple in my diet. By far the best grinder/sandwich shop on the shoreline.

A true east cost grinder loaded with home roasted meat, and toppings of your choice. Always delicious. The best bread! Try the home made cookies too! Staff is always friendly and accommodating. My family had been ordering from here for years! I’m always in the mood for a grinder from here! turkey is my favorite!

I had no idea this place existed until one of my co-workers took me there a few months ago. I’ve been going to Niantic for 20 years, it’s a local hidden gem! The grinders are LOADED with meat and veggies, I had a bowl of homemade chili today too. I’ve never had a bad grinder. Expect to pay a little more than you might want, but it’s because you’re getting MORE for your money! Also if you’re in a little bit of a rush you might want to call ahead so it’s ready, there’s a line during the lunch hour rush. There’s only a few tables inside as well as outside. So depending when you get there you might be eating in your car. Today I ordered an 8″ grinder with roast beef w/L, T, O and mayo. I should of taken a picture! Well worth the $$ I spent, They cook the chicken cutlets fresh and I watched them pound them out too.

This is officially my 2nd favorite sub/grinder/sandwich place in the USA. I grew up eating here, and it is a vegetarian’s dream. The ingredients are simple, so simple in fact, that I’ve tried countless times to recreate the sandwiches when I am away from the area, and failed every time. I’m not sure how they do it, but they have some magical sandwich making skills. I like that they offer larger sizes than the usual chains, and I keep getting fooled that I can eat a large sub there… I never could. But, that makes it ideal for sharing. We often ordered a few different grinders for parties or get-togethers on the beach, and a few sandwiches covered the needs of many in a group, and for very affordable prices. If you want a great and light lunch, and want to support local restaurants, give Hartford Giant Grinder a try(and add oregano to your grinder!)

Absolutely love this place. My husband, 100% Italian, will only eat his mom’s or his own meatball’s and he loves these grinders. We’ve tried the chicken parm, meatball, and Italian cold cut combo. All were out of this world. The bread is also great and the grinders are large. Everyone we’ve dealt with has been very friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the price. It’s a little high but I well worth it!

Love the grinders here. Great taste, and lots of meat. A half sub is plenty filling. The downside is that its a very small shop with limited seating.

We often get their Italian grinder to take to the beach. Makes for a good beach day!
