This is a weird review to write. On the one hand, I agree with other reviewers that this is the best Chinese food in the area(though, admittedly, we are spoiled in this area with a disproportionate number of tasty non-Chinese Asian restaurants including oishi, duck sauce and others). Ordering takeout from here is a no brainier. Dining in, on the other hand, is a different situation. I was in here the other night with my mom and sister, we were craving Chinese food and decided to change it up from our normal spot(Wang’s Garden in Holland) in favor of the slightly more expensive Dragon. We don’t come here often and this visit was a reminder why. The restaurant was not crowded(maybe four tables were occupied) and yet it took the waitress probably fifteen minutes to make her way to our table to take our orders(while three other employees sat behind the front desk, talking). We tried to order the soup special from the menu board but the waitress did not understand our request and ended up bringing us their normal house soup. We asked for an extra bowl for the soup(it automatically comes with two bowls but there were three of us and we were ordering other appetizers) but she forgot and we had to ask three times to get it. After soup, it took more than an hour to get food on the table. When it arrived, all the food was tasty but some was hot and some was ice cold. Normally I wouldn’t judge on one visit… but this is the third or fourth time that I can recall, where Dragon scorched us with their slow and inconsiderate service. In spite of all of this, we really enjoyed the beef with shiitake, potstickers and house soup! Its not that you shouldn’t get food from Dragon… It’s just that you definitely shouldn’t eat there.

Forgot entire family order on Christmas. Three tables in the restaurant and they couldn’t do my take out order. Usually went here 3 times per month. No more.

I came here this past Sunday because Duck Sauce was closed and I was craving Chinese food. Honestly, I usually don’t like Chinese food unless it’s from Duck Sauce, PF Chang’s or somewhere in Chinatown but this place is alrighttttt. The general tso’s actually has chicken inside which is always a good sign. The service was very good, very attentive and the lunch menu was cheap with a good array of choices. My only complaint is that the fried rice is a little bland and the won tons in the won ton soup were bland as well. I did like the curry chicken but the lo mein was a little soggy.

A size small take out sesame shrimp comes with only 5 small-medium size shrimp and an extremely mini rice enough for two bites. When the restaurant was called«Dragons» they served jumbo shrimp and also large pieces all white meat chicken, which is why I had considered this restaurant to serve quality Chinese food. It is not terrible now as far as taste, but not as quality as the food used to be before they changed names.

ordered take out for the first time — not worth the price. especially the fried rice –extremely bland and literally just had peas and shrimp, no carrots or sprouts or onion or watercress or baby corn

In my opinion, it’s the best Chinese food in the area. My family has been coming here for years. I didn’t really notice much of a difference with the change in ownership. The service and food are both great. Love the chicken and broccoli, lo mein, mu shu, and general’s chicken. Dumplings and egg rolls are also fantastic. They have the best chicken corn soup around. The only thing I’d really change is offering combination meals for dinner as well as lunch. I also REALLY wish that they delivered!

I went out with co-worker/friends from work to Dragon Restaurant which I used to like and had not been to in several years. The service was ok in the beginning and I thought we were going to have a nice lunch out of the office in the beginning. Let me start with the bland soup, not that good. Next we get our food which was very small portions, I was certain I would be hungry again quickly after eating lunch. I had shrimp with garlic sauce, no vegetables like I am normally used to from other Chinese Restaurants I have gone to and the way the old Dragon ownership used to prepare the food which was good. The shrimp was small and the plate was covered with cut up celery, it was not that good either. My other co-worker thought her food was ok, but the other one did not like her food. She told the waiter the sweet and sour chicken she ordered was fried way too hard and she’s never had it that way. The waiter got an immediate attitude and began to defend the restaurant/cook instead of catering to the customer. The waiter said people like that meal, we never had a problem with that dish. Are you kidding me? The customer in front of him did not like the dish, others should have never been brought up, it does not matter if someone else does not like the way the food was prepared. I think the waiter was an owner or family member, he was just too defensive. The waiter with attitude offered to get my co-worker something else after a lady who I believe might have been an owner came over and tried to calm the situation by offering her another meal or the same meal not fried as hard. The waiter ruins it again by asking her what did she want to do and snatching the menu from her that was given to her by the lady that was manning the desk in the restaurant… again I think she was an owner. My co-worker decided she did not want anything and who could blame her. The waiter’s customer service was horrible, he did not apologize for his bad behavior, was a very bad example of waiter and a terrible representation of the restaurant. The food was not that good, customer service was bad, they were a little pricy for lunch, I would lastly like to mention how empty the place was… we won’t be going back. I was very disappointed I had taken my friends here and it was such a bad experience.

Have had bad experiences here in the past but this place has cleaned up its act and now offers slightly above average Chinese fare. Some of it falls victim to the classic«it all tastes like the same Chinese dish with a similar sauce,» but most of it remains memorable. The classics here are generally well-executed, but like I said, sometimes things just get boring.

We had an hankering for Chinese food so came here for lunch today. The luncheon specials was $ 7.95. I had Hunan beef with a nice assortment of fresh vegetables, hot and sour soup and an egg roll. I asked for brown rice and no MSG, my son ordered off the light menu and had a steamed chicken with vegetable dish with a hot garlic sauce on the side. The food tasted good, and was served hot. The waiter was efficient and friendly. The owner thanked us when we left. This isn’t gourmet dining however it was a good meal at a local restaurant.

For real? We have had not good experiences in the past and decided we wanted egg rolls and soup today. How can they mess this up, we thought. Royally they messed it up. Egg rolls got thrown out because they tasted like bad seafood. Soup was tolerable but not good. Mustard packets for the egg rolls looked very dark in color and proved to be disgusting. Um, this is definitely the end and we won’t go back even for egg rolls. Boo!!!

What used to be Dragon Restaurant, has been under new ownership for several years, and been renamed, «Dragon of Newtown.» The new team has done a good job improving quality and consistency. I have been a regular lunch customer since the changeover. The combo meals as with most Chinese places offer a cup of soup, egg roll and entrée with choice of rice and the ubiquitous broccoli sprigs in a price range from $ 6.95 to $ 7.95, including hot tea, hard noodles and duck sauce. Service is prompt and courteous. The owner is usually present to oversee operations, and she makes a point of checking with the diners. This is typical Chinese-American cuisine, tending to the sweet Cantonese style most liked by western palates. If you go for this kind of Chinese food, this is a good place. If you are more adventurous, or know and like the dishes served in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, or our bigger cities’ Chinese communities, then this may not float your boat. If you like the spicy Szechuan style, you will have to hunt further in my reviews to find one. My usual lunch: Hot and sour soup, egg roll, orange beef and rice. Satisfying. 2.20.13 — After further review, and multiple lunches, an upgrade to 4 stars is warranted. I must be a fan to continue to return here for lunch on an almost weekly basis.

Had a really satisfying General Tzo Chicken with an eggroll. Hit the spot. Ordered takeout, and the food came out quickly, too. Nice service.

We were so in the mood for Chinese. We ordered takeout. Tofu vegetable soup which was acceptable. Ribs way over cooked and dry. But the worst was shrimp with almonds. My husband asked what kind of fish it was. Who can’t identify a shrimp. After tasting it I knew why. The dish was extremely fishy smelling and tasting. It was bad shrimp.!! Ordinarily I would have called the restaurant but the hour was so late we just went to bed and have been praying we won’t get food poisoning. We can never go back.

My favorite dish is General Tso’s and these guys make it well. A nice balance of sweet and some kick on all-white meat. The lunch special prices make it even better. The pre-meal chips are some of the best I’ve had.

I love Chinese food. And wish i could find a good one in Newtown. The restaurant is really nice. The staff is friendly. But the food is just not that good. I have tried this restaurant 3 times and have never liked it. Everything is very plain and flavorless. Not the kind of plain you can just add salt to and cover up. Sauces such as the sesame chicken are very watery. Egg drop soup is plain and the crab wantons have hardly any filling. I wish i liked this place because of location but its just not that good. Id rather drive 20 mins to my favorite place in Levittown near chuck e cheese than eat here again.

I have definitely had better. The kitchen is extremely slow, even when the restaurant is empty. The food is okay, but just okay– nothing special at all. I find their soups to be excessively salty. They do, however, have a lunch special for something like $ 4.95, so you can’t go wrong if you’re in a pinch.

UNDERNEWMANAGEMENT… and it shows! Now I’m not a meat eater but my boyfriend had the general tso’s and it was made with all white breast meat chicken. I sampled the boiled veggie dumplings and veggie fried rice both were fantastic and fresh. Good amount of veggies in rice and it was not over fried. This will now be my chinese food choice in Newtown.

I am not familiar with Newtown but wanted to eat with my daughter and get take out for my mom in the hospital. My daughter likes general tso’s chicken and I usually have to eat what she eats at a chinese restaurant so I don’t have to order a separate entrée for my self. They did not have lunch specials. This chicken arrived with a gooey dark weird sauce and not typically spicy. More sweet. My daughter calls generals chicken«spicy chicken» but this was not spicy just gooey and thick and it would stretch between the chicken and the dish while trying to serve it. They also had that super spicy skull aching mustard that some may like. My daughter likes spicy things but I had to nearly smack the fork out of her had as she tried to eat just the mustard. She looked at me stunned and understood later when she tasted a small amount on her lackluster egg roll. My mother said her food was fine but said anything is better than hospital food. Enough said.
