Shop-Rite Wines Liquors & Spirits

Yes, the layout of the store is interesting, and perhaps a little tough to find things, but Shop-​Rite Liquors of Newton is a well-​run business with a relatively large selection of wines, beers, and liquors.
I shop here regularly — mostly for wine. Sometimes the ‘help’ is grumpy or abrubt, especially is you want to write a check; somehow at least one cashier there doesn’t like checks — but customer service is generally warm and courteous … and who hasn’t had a bad day and who hasn’t made errors.
Take for instance our perhaps overly sensitive commenter (on bigotry ???) who lives at Lake Kemah. I really can’t imagine how she derived bigotry from her experience. A pricing error? Maybe. If she didn’t like the price, she should have just bought something else or gone somewhere else. She thinks the cashier charged her
$ 14.00/case more because she was gay? That doesn’t make any sense since the products are data based and bar coded. Maybe this is a case of ‘heterophobia’???
Since I am a ‘local,’ I am aware that the Newton Shop-​Rite and Newton Shop-​Rite Liquors generously supports numerous local non-​profit and not-​for-​profit and charitable organizations. Give them a break, sweetheart. Talk to a manger and find a remedy.

My partner of 38 years and I are on vacation at Lake Kemah in Newton, N. J this is our 4^th year. We have had no problems shopping at Shop Rites Wines Liquors & Spirits until last week — we went into buy our regular case of wine and were told by an older woman clerk that the price was now $ 86.00 a huge jump of $ 14.00. When we questioned the price the clerk stammered something about the sale being over, she was stammering and hard to follow. We bought the case, checked later and the price in every other surrounding town’s Shop Rite was what we had been paying $ 72.00 plus change. Bigotry is alive and well in the Newton, N.J. Shop Rite Wines Liquors & Spirits

This is a typical grocery liquor store in most ways, but it did have a bit more selection.
I was happy to find a nice selection of beer and liquor, and left with everything I came to find. Their store setup is odd, but if you ask for help you’ll find them able to point you in the right direction.
