I just stopped in with my wife to buy some birthday presents and have them wrapped. I’m not sure the woman that was«helping» us, who was the only one working, has ever seen wrapping paper before, let alone ever wrapped anything. After spending nearly 15 minutes watching her fumble with the wrapping paper my wife had to finally step in and just wrap the items herself. If she hadnt, we may have completely missed the birthday party that we were on our way to. Aside from that, the Newton Centre location is also much smaller than other Papyrus locations that aren’t too far away. As such, the selection here is substantially limited. The quality of items you can purchase here are up to the normal standards of your average Papyrus but if you’re looking for a wide selection, excellent help, or need anything wrapped I would highly recommend the Papyrus located on Rte 9 near Wegmans instead.

Lately I’ve been going to many stores like this, looking for gift ideas as the holiday season is approaching(and I always seem to get a late start!), and this Papyrus is the best Card & Stationery store yet! The Paper Store is usually pretty good and Paper Source is great, but Papyrus is smaller, cozier, and better. There weren’t any other people even in the store, besides one employee who was very helpful and organizing the store. There were TONS of cards, TONS of wrapping paper, and lots of gifts. Super convenient location in the heart of Newton Centre on Centre Street. This will be a spot I return soon, before Christmas. Yes, one less gift-find off the list…

Needed inexpensive event invitations quickly. The manager didn’t try to up-sell me, she showed me a good selection within my budget. The whole process was quick and professional. I got my proofs exactly when promised, good notification. Would use them again and recommend their invite services. Only downside is somewhat limited store hours.

I had the worst experience ever at this store. I ordered specialized holiday cards, they guaranteed delivery 7 – 10 days later. They charged me 100% of the cost the day I entered the store(prior to even approving the proofs). After not receiving them on Day 10 I had to call the store. They happily told me I would hopefully get them 10 days later than promised. That would be one day before Christmas! Not exactly helpful! They showed no understanding of the importance of timely delivery of Christmas Cards. They would not provide me with satisfactory compensation for their error. I will never ever shop at any Papyrus again.

Great selection of cards, but the customer service needs a bit of an improvement. The paper and stationary is a a bit pricey, but it again is of a very high quality and people can see that quality right away when you give them a gorgeous wrapped gift with a lovely card attached. I will still go here even though they do not fall over themselves to help you right away. Hopefully they will work with the employees to see why this is an important part of the customer experience.

The shop appeared to be nice, however it is rare I’ve had such an unprofessional experience in a place like this. When I came in I-not the girl and boy who worked there-greeted the staff-both separately with a friendly«hello”-and neither one even cracked a smile. The ‘tude was palpable, and may I add, laughable, considering these youngsters are selling wrapping paper, not high fashion. I left without bothering to shop, I truly felt that unwelcome and my business felt that unwanted. In this economy, it is surprising to see a small business would gamble it’s sustainability on hiring this level of staff.

I found out where all the good cards went. I swear CVS has not changed their birthday card stock in 82 years! Papyrus has tons of good cards — cool, funny, etc. Also lots of nice wrappings, and other stationary goodness like journals and some books. I like this store — it is the only place I get cards now.

Well. It’s a Papyrus… they’re all essentially the same, wherever you go. Cute stuff, but nothing really stands out. However, I had a bad experience at this particular location that I think is noteworthy. I was with a friend who was buying a greeting card, and the surly teen behind the counter was too busy on a personal phone call(«like, what are you up to tonight? can you, like, borrow your dad’s car? fer sure.») to ring her up. We stood there for several minutes while she confirmed her hot Friday night plans. And she didn’t even apologize or gesture that she’d be done in a minute!

If you’re looking for cool wrapping paper, cards, invitations, thank you notes, journals, baby books, and other stationary related items, Papyrus is for you. It’s a national chain, this branch is fairly new. It’s small, so kind of tight, but it’s all there.
