Jamie does great work and his prices are reasonable, especially for Metro West Boston. Excellent cut, color, styling. He knows his stuff.

My gym (the adjacent Ten X Club) ran a special this month for members to get a free color with any cut/​blowdry with Jaime. I searched Unilocal and found all of these amazing reviews for him! I booked my appointment immediately.
Jaime was the best stylist I’ve had in YEARS. No joke. I went in with grown out highlights, in between growing out my hair and bangs, and basically looking like a scraggly hot mess. I walked out looking chic and polished.
Jaime was knowledgeable, clear, open, and very professional. I had no idea what I really wanted aside from a trim and a single color process. I trusted his judgment and gave him carte blanche on the whole thing (I’m really not that picky). He explained my color options and recommended a certain mix for me. The coloring was quick and the processing took about 30 minutes. My half-​grown-​out highlights were gone! The cut and blowdry was fast too! Jaime explained every little detail about what he was doing and why. Great communication.
Afterward I was so happy with the whole thing! It truly looks sophisticated, sleek, and very stylist. I have a new bounce in my step which is always how you should feel after an amazing hair experience.

Jamie’s the only person i will trust to do anything to my hair!
I found him about 3 years ago on city search because my hair was a complete mess. i’m talking asian teen going blonde and it went horribly wrong kind of mess. haha. i was looking for someone who knew what they were doing and was NOT located in chinatown. i was under the assumption that asian people knew how to cut/​dye asian hair and boy, was i wrong. at the time, Jamie was at J. Stevens salon out in Newton, a bit of a hike, but i figured it was worth a shot. When i phoned to make the appt (it was Jamie who picked up), i inquired about pricing because i didn’t have all that much to shell out. he quoted me a fair price and it is still the same price i pay now when i see him, 3 years later.
it’s been a while so i don’t quite remember exactly how that initial appt went. but my hair went from being dry, damaged and horribly colored to healthy, shiny and strong and I LOVE IT. he’ll always ask what color/​cut you want and walks through it with you to make sure you’re both on the same page. and if you want something new, but not sure what, he’s got lots of ideas. i feel awesome when i leave. i’d recommend him to everyone, though some are not willing or able to pay his prices. but *i* am! Jamie is easy-​going, open-​minded, easy to talk to and an amazing colorist. visits are always relaxing and enjoyable.
that reminds me… i’m due for a visit soon. *makes note to self* :)

Jamie is one of the stylists at J. Stevens salon in Newtonville and he’s great! I found out about him by reading reviews about local stylists on
. He got excellent reviews so I figured he was worth trying. Well, I was very glad that I did because my experience with him was very positive. he spent a long time looking at my hair and asking me questions before doing any cutting. The end result was a stylish bob that grew out very well. Since that first time, I’ve been back to see Jamie for a few haircuts and a partial foil and have always been pleased with the results.
Jamie’s expertise in coloring is particularly notable… I am very very fair-​skinned and, before finding Jamie, I had highlights done at Dellaria (in Newton Ctre.) that were too ashy for my skin tone. The stylist at Dellaria just went for the blondest she could go on my hair without really considering my coloring. When I went to Jamie, he took about 15 minutes to talk about color with me and about what kind of highlights would compliment my skin tone. He decided on two different colors that were golden and were a much better match with my skin. The end result was very complimentary to my skin tone and I no longer looked washed out. My highlights also grew out very well and did not turn brassy after only a month the way they used to.
Finally, Jamie has a wonderful personality. I would say that he is a «gentle soul.» He is very kind and patient and there is no pretense about him despite the fact that he is so good at what he does. He seems to really care about his clients and I always feel comfortable sitting in his chair. As long as I live around here, I’ll continue to go him!
