All Star Liquors

I’ve lived around the corner for years and this has always been a last resort type of place, similar to Mr. K’s. They are open till 11 on Fridays and Saturdays and 8 on Sundays, which makes it convenient.
Tonight I needed to pick up some rum for Mojito’s for tomorrow. 10 Cane is my go to; unfortunately they don’t sell it (it’s a tiny store so their selection is weak across the board). I figured I’d give the new Captain Morgan White a try. At $ 25 I figured it was a premium product similar to 10 Cane.
Just out of curiosity I looked it up online just now and it has a $ 16 MSRP. At $ 25, they are marking it up over 50%! 1L bottles of Bacardi were $ 22 and Bully Boy White Rum was $ 35.
I picked up some Layer Cake wine recently and remember it was on sale for 2-​for-​35.

After posting my original review, the owner, Jeff, contacted me. He sounds like a really nice guy and actually is going to adjust the prices of some of the items to make them more competitive (including a great deal on Layer Cake). And yes, they will carry 10 Cane for $ 25. Thanks for the email, Jeff. I’ve bumped you a couple stars.

All Star is a local liquor store that’s walking distance from my house. 2 stars for that.
Their beer section is decent, but it’s nothing to write home about. You can get your Sam, Rolling Rock, some local brews either refrigerated or in a case. I’ll grant them another star.
There’s plenty of wine too, but I don’t drink wine very often. Their prices are reasonable, but I’ve seen better. Taking a stroll down to this store beats driving out to Marty’s or the Trader Joe’s in Brookline any day though!
