When we came to Newport on vacation my husband HAD to get a kite. We hit Google of course, and it led us to the Kite Company. These guys are THE BEST. We spent well over an hour talking with William and Keith, bought a foil and got full instructions on how to set it up and put it away. William was SO GREAT with our boys, making sure they understood how to do everything, and then he offered to meet us to go flying later that day. We met at Nye Beach, and spent over 2 hours flying kites with William (during which time he spent most of it helping our 15 year old and only a short while flying his own kites!) We went back the next day and purchased a second kite, and the rest of the week we hit the beaches and flew as much as possible before heading home. At home, we have places to fly them too and our son is now working on «homework» as Keith called it, learning how to do stunts by watching YouTube videos. Great experience, awesome customer service. Like I said, THE BEST.

These guys (The Kite Company) were so AWESOME this last weekend. We walked in with our 10 year old son and told them we needed an inexpensive, easy kite, that we would easily fly and store. KEITH stepped right up and showed us exactly what we needed. It was super easy to assemble and it flew instantly every time. GREAT KITE FLYING at the Oregon Coast courtesy of THE KITE COMPANY!

We really appreciated the expertise and friendliness of the sales associates. She was able to assist our two sons in finding kites appropriate for their size and age. The prices were a little steep, but I have no knowledge of what kites (other than those purchased at Costco) typically cost.
I would definitely shop here again because we took the kites out to fly them in 15 mph winds at the beach and they held up nicely and were easy enough for my 4 and 10 year old to operate.

Fantastic store full of quality kites. The owner is great — talked to my 8 year old son about the best kites and steered him toward a good kite. Also provided good info on wind ranges and when we might see these during the day. Great place when you need a kite.

Super customer service, knowledge and PASSION for the art of kite flying. The store has an enormous variety of kites. Keith must have spent at least 30 minutes giving us individual attention helping repair/​setup and giving instructions about my kite that I crashed last year. We picked up another kite to try out. I will come back every trip down to the coast. Keith and his family have been here for over 25 years. If you know nothing about kites come here and buy one or two you’ll get hooked. Keith’s passion about kites is infectious. Thanks Keith for all your help! The best to you and your family!

No need to go anywhere else for kites and spinners for your yard. What a fabulous, mind-​blowing store! Get all the help you need to get set up for flying a kite on Newport’s great beaches. If you can’t find the kite you want here, I doubt it’s made.

Great prices are good plenty of inventory great service I picked up a new kite and some spars to fix some more the advice I got was spot on they will get more of my business, the time spent on answering my questions and just chatting was great I totally felt welcomed I drove 100 miles to go to this store well worth the ride

Best value in Newport. Between $ 20 – 50 for a great starter kite, plus a full tutorial with the only person I’ve ever met who knows that much about flying kites! My entire family got hours of enjoyment thanks to his enthusiastic advice. I felt good supporting a local family run business, too. Definitely worth checking out.

Great people! Totally took the time to show us how to set up, tips and tricks. Put some extra love into my kite checking the bridle and strings fixed some minor adjustments that was needed. Theses trick kites are awesome!!!

i went to the kite company trying to find something to find something for my house. loved their stuff. i want to buy more more stuff for my garden and outside. anyone have experience buying stuff from them on-​line? Not sure when i will make it back to newport in the near future.

Don’t buy your kite at Wal-​mart or any other chain. This is the place to go. Friendly, happy to talk to my eight year old and had his own kid in there learning the ropes. (Unintentional pun I promise) There are few pleasures more simple and healthy than flying a kite and the Oregon Coast has an ample supply of motive power to keep you aloft. Take a minute on your coast journey and support the little guy.

Service ws fantastic and the selection is great. The people there really know their kites. I found a really cool little bat kite. There are all kinds of novelty items as well as kites and accessories for the serious kite people too.

I love this store! We’ve bought a couple of wonderful kites here as well as a whole bunch of antenna spinners for my car. Friendly, helpful service is consistent. This is THE place to go for any kind of kite you might want to fly!

Wonderful selection of every type of kite you can think of. My friend bought a simple basic red triangular kite for around $ 8. I bought a «Pocket Parafoil» for $ 17.95 (super-​cool, compact, easy to pack and travel with, highly recommend). Both our kites and the majority of kites sold there include the kite string and a holder for free/​included in package. Located just around the corner from Newport beach access with parallel street parking, this shop made for an easy and quick detour that provided us with a couple of hours worth of entertainment on the beach on a beautiful sunny day. Employees were VERY knowledgeable, helpful and even a little playful! Fun for adults and kids and toddlers taking their first steps toward a career in aerodynamics or wanting to try to calculate the airspeed velocity of an unladen African (or European) swallow.
