I went last week to get a massage with a friend. Before scheduling I mentioned that I would like deep tissue and stressed that I like a really strong hand as I don’t get relief otherwise which is why I seek out massage. The spa is beautiful and smelled wonderful and I was really really looking forward to this experience. However, to start the spa was 65 degrees and very cold. After changing and being called back into the room, the assessment of what I would like worked on was not very thorough which was fine because I was very detailed on my intake form, the massage was a joke, it was swedish at best and so incongruent. I specifically told her multiple times throughout the massage where I was hurting and what muscles I wanted to be worked on more. It was like I was talking to a wall. I got no relief whatsoever and walked out freezing and unhappy. The spa manager asked how it was and I was honest, not so much in telling her it was one of the worst massages I had ever received but she was kind enough to offer me 50% off. I left unhappy and was really hoping to love this place.

Worst massage I have ever had. You change in the locker room, just to stand in the hallway to wait for your appointment. Very uncomfortable. We had asked for female massage therapists, however we received male. He was too rough and I had to ask him several times to be gentle. I left with bruises. The only reason I have given this spa any«stars» is because the Water Journey is unique. However, it was very busy and felt more chaotic than serene.

This place is amazing. Great service from the moment you walk through the door. Cool refreshing drinks are always at the ready. The locker room was clean and well organized, with appropriate hygienic signage. The spa itself is phenomenal, ranging from a cold plunge that will make you feel on fire, to a wonderful infrared sauna that warms you gently from the inside. The steam room, hot sauna, and heated pools are great as well. Between relaxing plunges, you can head to the enclosed back area: grassy and beautiful, with reclining chairs when you need some fresh crisp air. And of course the spa also offers services like facials and massages. Both my wife and I have both received massaged here in the past and they are exquisite. A word of warning, though: you may want a nap after your massage!

I was surprised by my bridal party to get a massage at Bodhi Spa. When you walk in, it’s very soothing with the touch of calming music and smell. The place looks well put together. I chose the signature Bodhi Massage as it was my first time ever getting a massage. The only thing I was a little concerned about was that my masseuse was a guy, but he was good. I would love to try something different next time. My girls love the deep tissue massage!

If you are looking for an incredibly restorative and healing facial or Reiki treatment I highly recommend Zoe Lobdell, she is very attuned to individual sensitivities and she gives amazing face and neck massages. Her treatments are both soothing and uplifting, and her energy work is sheer magic. I have had dream-like experiences where waves of energy move throughout my body, and I feel relaxed and joyful for days after a treatment with Zoe. Ryder Cooley

Good place. I’m not a massage person but my wife and I had a couples massage for our anniversary and it was good. Glad to have visited and nice experience for our anniversary.

My girlfriends and I went to Bodhi last Sunday and although I had been there before for the water journey, I had never had a treatment there. The water journey was pleasant, though got crowded by the time we were winding down at 1pm on a Sunday. The O2 facial I received was below average. Granted, I have had a lot of facials before, and thus, my expectations were high. It was a $ 150 facial, and I expected that the aesthetician would massage my head, neck, and arms for the time while the masks set on my face. Well, she actually left the room for almost 10 minutes while I had the mask on my face! Then she gave me a very short and overly oily arm massage and called it quits. Afterwards, my face did not glow or even look remotely refreshed. It was hardly worth the $ 150, and I will not go back to Bodhi or recommend it to friends.

This was our first time at Bodhi Spa and we couldn’t have had a more relaxing experience! I had been feeling pretty overwhelmed with stress for the past few weeks and made a comment to my significant other that I really wish I could go and get a massage and just relax. Shortly thereafter he sent me some links to a few local spas and Bodhi caught my attention. I took a look at their website and really thought the Water Journey was unique and certainly something I had never experienced. I read their reviews on Tripadvisor and everyone had great things to say so I called and booked us a 60 minute couples hot stone massage and the Water Journey. We were greeted as soon as we entered and offered some cucumber water while we filled out a short registration form and then given a tour of the spa. It is not an overly large place but you can certainly tell that time and attention was spent determining how to create an inviting and relaxing environment. Our massages were amazing(my massage therapist was Kenji), we had never had a hot stone massage before and now that I have experienced it, I am pretty sure I will be back for another. After our massages we spent about an hour and half enjoying the Water Journey which includes an Epsom salt pool, a dead sea salt pool, a cold plunge pool, an infrared sauna, a traditional sauna, and an aroma therapy steam room. There were a few people also enjoying the Water Journey but everyone was quite and respectful of others. I love that you can spend as much time as you would like enjoying this area. Being that we visited in March(and it was raining outside) we did not get to experience the Zen Garden but I am looking forward to seeing that when we visit again… which will be soon! So, thank you Bodhi Spa for giving us a much needed day of relaxation!

What a great addition to downtown Newport. Located on Lower Thames, the bodhi spa is an oasis in the midst of an already heavenly place. When walking in, it is inviting with soft wood tones, earthy scents, and a small waiting area. You then are sent to the changing rooms with soft robes, towels, and flipflops. The changing area is small, and got a little hectic with the big group that was there the same day. However, the showers, bathrooms and changing area is very clean and relaxing. The water journey is very unique. There are three different baths(2 warm, 1 cold), with 2 saunas(1 infared) and 1 steamroom. The water journey takes you through all stations to fully allow your body to relax/rid toxins. All stations were very clean, relaxing, and calming. It was a great process, and the pass lets you stay as long as you light. The painting on the walls and overall décor is soothing and transports you out of RI and into paradise. There is a small seating area out back with grass, firepits, and lounge chairs to enjoy the sun or outdoors. The massages were very good. My only complaint is that the massage rooms are close to the front entrance. While there is music on in the background during the massage, I was still able to hear the front desk staff and the other clients. This made it be not as relaxing, and I spent most of the time trying to block out the sound. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and if you are in the area and need a massage, or a water journey, I would recommend spending time here.

Visited the Bodhi Spa after a long day of walking throughout Newport while on Vacation. Wow! Was this ever a great find. I began my visit with the hydrotherapy which was the perfect way to relax and recover from the days events. Following the hydrotherapy I had the Bodhi signature massage with Allison. I can only describe the massage result as «paralyzed in comfort», just phenomenal. The facilities were clean and felt like no little detailed was spared from the chilled lemon water to super comfortable robes. Definitely a highlight of my time in Newport.

Couldn’t agree more with those who said it’s a diamong in the rough in Newport — 100% correct. Booked a pair of one hour massages here with my wife on a recent trip to Newport, and we left very satisfied customers — and very relaxed! The enviornment is great, the staff was very welcoming and personal, and the masseuses were great. They have a «relaxation room,» which is kind of interesting that most spas don’t have. It’s got saunas, hot and cold pools, and benches for you to relax and wait for your massage. I’ve had a bunch of massages in my life, and while not the absolute BEST, bodhi’s masseuse did a really good job at working out what I needed(knot-wise). The only knock I have is that when the massage started, for about 20 minutes, there wasn’t any music in the background, which was kind of weird? But once it kicked in, it was more relaxing for sure. Good prices too!

I’ve come to the Bodhi Spa on multiple occasions and each time I’ve enjoyed it even more than the last! My first visit was in the fall, the day after the Newport 10 miler. The Spa was offering a special for runners, so I came in for a Water Journey and ½ hour sports massage. This being my first massage, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I had a pleasant experience and my legs felt like new the next day – after a 10-miler, recovery time for me is usually a few days! It was great to feel so relaxed and rejuvenated. I’ve returned for a handful of water journeys since, staying for anywhere from an hour to many. My favorite experience so far, though, has been the«Flow and Float» saturday morning experience. A one hour vinyasa class followed by a water journey. I left hours later feeling relaxed and ready to tackle the rest of my weekend. There are few peaceful places in Newport, and the Bodhi Spa is at the top of my list!

This spa is a diamond in rough. We stopped in on a trek back from DT and the staff was warm and welcoming, offering us an impromptu tour. The space is ahh-mazing, and so much larger than the storefront would suggest. They offer a ‘water journey’ here, a circuit of hot baths, steamroom, saunas, showers, etc. in a bathhouse setting… you can customize your experience and wander from tub to tub, soaking in the goodness. They even have an infrared sauna. The space is serene. There is also outdoor and indoor seating for relaxation. My mom and I took the water journey together prior to massage appointments. I had a therapeutic Swedish massage with Allison, and it was awesome. I get regular sports massages elsewhere, and this was a treat indeed. The bed was ergonomic and heated, one of the most comfortable massage tables I’ve ever experienced. My mom had the same massage with Bill, she was also impressed. Very positive experience! This place is great for mother/daughter pampering, bridal parties, and couples retreats. They also offer facials and other body treatments. This isn’t your average spa, it’s one-of-a-kind. Can’t wait to visit again!

This was such a great experience! My boyfriend has been complaining about being exhausted so I got a couples massage as his birthday gift. The online system was a little confusing to schedule but I called and it was easy breezy. The massage itself was truly relaxing. Best way to spend an hour. I really wanted to do the water journey after but we had a birthday party to go to so unfortunately we couldn’t. I do plan to go back to do it soon! I’ve heard only great things.

An amazing experience! The spa is clean, peaceful and soothing. The water baths are just wonderful… I had had a sinus headache and tense muscles for several days when I decided to take a Water Journey on Sunday late afternoon… I went through two cycles and by the end, I had forgotten that I had even had a headache. I called my husband afterwards and his first words were ‘You sound so relaxed!!’… and I was! I will be doing this again many times in the near future, as well as booking a massage soon.

This place is great! A real breath of fresh air in Newport… On arrival, we met the sisters who own the Bodhi Spa. They were incredibly warm and welcoming and walked us through the bath cycles. This place isn’t just a regular spa. It has multiple different hot and cold baths, including some with Epsom salts and Dead Sea salts. I visited a real Turkish bath in Budapest so I was really excited to come check this place out and the sisters did a great job putting Bodhi Spa together. We followed the recommended cycle then sat out and enjoyed the weather outside in the back courtyard for a while. $ 55 gets you unlimited trips through the cycle but we were hungry and left after only one(took just under an hour). Overall, it was an awesome experience and we will definitely be returning!
