I’ve been to lots of candy shops on the coast and today I stopped by this one to get some sea foam and taffy. They had a really good selection and I ended getting dark chocolate sea salt sea foam it was perfect! The last place I got it from turned me off to it as it was stale and chewy. This place’s was amazing! Light and crunchy, and the sea salt is a really nice addition. I will be stopping in again. Only downfall is it is cash only, but they have an atm conveniently located in the back of the shop!

Wish I had a picture to post. We gobbled up the caramel walnut fudge before we had a chance!!! Almost all the candy is made there, helpful staff and delicious to boot-couldn’t ask for more

My husband and I were excited to find a local candy store that appeared to have sweets being made in-house. Their selection was great, lots of chocolates, fudge, and taffy. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get anything because we didn’t have cash, and were rudely ridiculed by the cashier who pointed to a «cash only» sign and said«how can you miss the thirteen signs that say it?» Fair enough. But he was unbelievably rude and demeaning. We were put off and not interested in using their ATM. Why support a business that ridicules customers? Especially during your slowest season, you’d rather push away business than politely say, «oh, we have an ATM available over there if you need it!» And sorry we missed the signs, guess we were distracted by the candy we were there to purchase. I’m sure their products are good, service was terrible.

we were visiting from out of town… I have severe ankle problems, and a service dog for balance assist, etc. I limped in in severe pain at the end of 3 hrs of shopping, planning to drop $ 50 and surprise my fam w/a ton of goodies for the beach house! I was immediately blocked by an employee about my dog, I showed her his service dog tag. she then asked me if I could«carry» my 70lb service dog! ! most idiotic employee ever! yes I can barely walk, I’m a small woman… and disabled! it was very OBVIOUS I was having major trouble balancing/walking. needless to say I immediately left and will NEVER return… and will report this store for not accomadating my service animal as is required by law. He has a License stating SERVICEDOG from my city. aginst the law, rude, and RIDICULOUS. shove your fudge

This is a sweet lover’s paradise! From the street it doesn’t look like anything special, but the locals know where to get their fudge, taffy, and other homemade sweets. We walked in thinking we’d buy a little bit I their highly recommended almond toffee and ended up fighting over the pound we bought. It’s all delicious. You won’t go wrong with anything they make on hand.

I wont go here again, the employee an older man with glasses short brownish gray hair was extraordinarily rude. First I have came here a lot in the past and the products are not bad, the taffy is good and so are their other candies. Having said that however, I first asked this man what was in something that had pralines and he didn’t know, he turned around looked at a younger man who said he didn’t know either, and then looked back at me as if that should satisfy me as an acceptable answer. Second I asked what was in the Sea Foam as i’ve never heard of it before and he told me very rudely that whatever the piece of paper next to it says is in it. After that I walked out of the store, this is unacceptable and a good way to lose business because I will be telling friends, family, and people who ask to steer clear as well and go to the other candy shop down the bay front Aunt Belinda’s Candies Inc who also has taffy, chocolates, and far friendlier and knowledgeable staff. UPDATE6SEPTEMBER2015: Since posting my review I have TWICE been harassed by an individual who claims to be this man who gave me rude service(s) daughter. I do not appreciate being harassed like this, Not only will this not get me to take my review down, however it further deters me from revisiting the shop to see if things have changed, or recommending it to others; until this harassment stops I have no intention of revisiting this candy shop or taking the review of my honest experience down.

Loads of selection, good prices, and the lady who got us our items and rang us up was delightful and recommended Local Oceans to us, landing us In our new favorite coastal seafood restaurant(minus one or two places in Florence). The peppermint bark, haystacks, and crispy white chocolate I had were just delicious!

Great chocolates and homemade candies. Awesome selection, and very friendly service. Also the cheapest ATM on Bay Blvd. I don’t recommend the taffy. It’s too hard and blandly flavored.

I’m not a huge taffy fan so I can’t review that. I can, however, review the fudge. My girlfriend loves peanut butter fudge and she has to come here every time we come to the coast. She comes home with what looks like a pound of peanut butter fudge. Personally, I loved their Tiger Butter. It’s some combination that includes peanut butter, white chocolate, chocolate and caramel(I think). It’s awesome. The caramel corn is also tasty. My only complaint is that the one with peanuts is really lacking in the peanuts. I think I found 10 peanuts in my entire box. Oh well — the popcorn itself was yummy.

The husband and I love to go to Moe’s, so while waiting for our table to be ready we stumbled upon this gem a while back. There are sweet shops, and then there are amazingly delicious sweet shops, and this is one of them! I have tried several items here and every single one has been delicious. Initially, we came here to buy some taffy for the kids(which I don’t care for but they love) but we ended up buying some of the PB bars. Sweet JESUS! It’s like a peanut butter candy bar on steroids. So delicious and it comes in both dark and milk chocolate. They have various types of turtle candies as well, Toffees(very good), marzipan, fudges, caramel corn, salted caramels, etc. The bad news is that it is a bit spendy with most items in the case at $ 17.99 a lb. It’s very easy to spend $ 30 + dollars in one whack. Also, they only take cash so come prepared(they do have an ATM though in the back of the store, but it’s usually crowded in there with a line). The employees(shop owners?) are very friendly as well, total bonus. We’ll be back, we make special trips here now!

Attracted by bright colors, i was pulled into this shoppe. i’m not a taffy fan, but i do like the fact that they used egg whites instead of oil to make their sweets. i picked up a 2 lb bag and the friendly smiley cashier girl told me that they had just made a batch fresh off the machine in rocky road flavor. thats when i examined my surroundings and found that they had a bunch of flavors in wall units all around, flavors like a jelly belly candy store. and they were all made by these guys. i dont like how taffy sticks to my teeth, but these aren’t airheads, they are soft and melt slowly in the mouth, and the flavors… so many different kinds! try the –strawberry lemonade –huckleberry, they make artificial candy out there, but this tastes true to the real thing –schoozyberry, what is that? iono! but this is my favorite flavor instantly here! –tutti fruitti, hey there’s a rainbow right through the piece!

Cute little shop in Old Town. Taffy is made the old fashioned way with egg whites. Super tasty, and soft. Their granola cluster is out of sight and the carmel corn will haunt my dreams. Don’t let this one pass you by while visiting Newport.

A small candy and popcorn store with fantastic caramel corn. A little pricey for what you get, but it was great and still tasted fresh a few days later! I even brought the rest back with me to CA. They let you try free samples of the taffy too(just pick up any flavor and try), but it wasn’t anything special. If you’re in the area and maybe waiting for a table at Mo’s, this is a good place to stop in to ruin your appetite. If my family didn’t stop me, I would have eaten the entire box before we made it back to Portland.

Love the Carmel Corn and taffy sampling, which they make fresh daily and will even let you try fresh batches they are making then and there. Best Candy shoppe in Newport. Down side is they don’t accept plastic.
