Out of the 10+ bars we visited on our epic dive bar crawl of Newport and Covington this past Sunday, Huddles had the best customer service. The bartender opened the door for us and basically yelled«WELCOMETOHUDDLES!» We both laughed at his enthusiastic approach to welcoming us. We sat down and ordered two domestic beers for $ 2.50 each. He laughed and joked again«Should we give them the cold ones? Ok I guess we can.» They checked in on us periodically and were just down right excited to be there and I love that. The other reviewers complain there was no music. I don’t know where the music was coming from when we visited but it was a killer playlist of classic 70’s-80’s music. They also had a crockpot of chili that the bartender insisted we sample. It was actually really tasty. He said his passion was cooking. So much light in this guys eyes, and he is probably the reason we loved the vibe here much more than the others. Negatives: — This was probably the dirtiest and most unkempt dive we went too. — Limited bar — This is a smoking establishment A stop on your dive list, but may not be the place to set up and drink for the night.

Why am I even reviewing this place. What you see is what you get. Cheap beer. Regulars. Crappy tvs that are not high-def. Lame juke box that doesn’t play unless someone pays to play a song. Otherwise, you have yourself a silent bar. Corny decoration. No ambiance. No games. Your clothes will reek of smoke, even if you only drop in for one beer. So yeah. Your choice. If nothing else matters to you than a domestic beer in your hand, great. Meet you at Huddles. I like places with a little more… something. Anything.

They have cheap pitchers of beer. that’s about all that is good with this place. The crowd is rough in this place. Saw at 1 fight had to be broken up and another looked like it was about to happen. That is the time, we decided to leave. I don’t see a reason to visit this place unless your looking to get drunk and fight. Not my kind of bar.

I’m thinking the same thing as Denver(previous review). The bar is full of friendly locals. I was there for a quick beer before a play at Falcon and hit their happy hour($ 5 pitcher, only three taps). There is no ambiance; bar, jukebox, locals. The jukebox must have been internet based because I heard three Outkast songs and a Sarah McLachlan song that wasn’t a single in less than an hour. It was fine for what it was; which is a place to get druuuuunk.

So after having wonderful drinks and appetizers from Dee Felice, Beth and I went to the theater for the Unilocal 39 steps performance. Since it was starting at 8 we decided to head on down for a quick drink. Huddle’s is what we found. Its a nice little dive full of locals. This is a smoking bar, i keep forgetting that you can smoke indoors in Kentucky. Drinks were cheap but watery, Beth ordered a vodka cranberry with sprite and it tasted like cranberry and sprite. After seeing what looked like water infused with beer coming out of the tap, i decided to go for a bottle. My PBR was cold yes, but tasted like it spent it summer outdoors directly in the sun. Parking was street but ample, the juke box has the newer one so you could use your smartphone to get songs. The staff was very friendly and so were the locals. Of course Ms Pacman and Galaga were nice add ons. If your looking for a quick drink near the Falcon theater, this is a place to try. I think next time we will go to La Mexicana.
