Everything was amazing! We ordered clam chowder and tomato bacon soup, both delicious and homemade. The cornbread served with the soup was so soft and sweet. We also got the country fried steak and halibut fish and chips for dinner. For beverage, even their cherry Pepsi was somehow great! Overall, it was a great experience with amazing food and good service.

Great place for cakes and pies. Cute atmosphere. Prices were normal for the coast. Our server was really busy, so the service was slow, but the good tasted great. I had the grilled tuna salad sandwich with clam chowder. Both were surprisingly tasty. Hubby had a hand-breaded chicken sandwich with a homemade sweet n sour sauce. It was really big and juicy! And a really large variety of pies. 4 stars, just because the service was really lacking. Still, we would go back again.

Food was average for breakfast cant say anything special. Strawberry pie was pretty good but there pies are much better priced if you buy it by the pie. They wanted 5 dollars a slice of pie for 8 of us but the the pie was 14 out the door. But make sure not to ask to eat the pie at the table because they don’t let you you have to buy it and leave the restaurant in order to eat the pie. Disappointed considering we came pretty far to eat here.

Unfortunately, I never got to taste any of the food at the Chalet, because after 25 minutes sitting unattended to while people who came later were served first and the waitresses ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, we left.

The best pie ever. It’s a family tradition to stop here every time we go through Newport. The fresh peach and strawberry pies are not to be missed.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I got the Jalapeño Burger and my buddy got the Club Sandwich, with fries. The sandwich was HUGE! She really liked it and commented on how good the bacon was, not overcooked and rubbery like the bacon is in most resturants. The burger was good, tho the bun fell apart and was soggy half way thru. Not a big deal… but then after a few bites, I noticed the hamburger meat smelled kinda funny. Figured maybe it was just me. But about 4 hrs later, my stomach started to hurt and still does.(Not from the peppers. im a tank) Hoping this doesn’t turn out to be bad. Otherwise, service was quick and friendly. Pretty great. The restaurant was clean, and nicely decorated.

Made a phone call to pick up. All I wanted was one chicken fried steak and two sides of hashbrowns. The woman who picked up the phone made it sound like I was incoveniencing them and told me she needed to get someone who was free and not backed up. I waited and listened for 4 minutes not on hold until someone picked up and complained how busy they were. They said I had to order eggs no substituted and when they tried to give me the math as to why, they did the math wrong and was impatient. The waitress said I should come in and look at a menu, I said no thanks all I want is hashbrowns and chicken fried steak… She commented that it’s busy and I wound up just saying never mind. No order, why was that hard, why am I an inconvenience for wanting two things to go?

The breakfast menu is super! The eggs were cooked just right, the bacon is superb and the coffee cake is the star of the show. All of the waitstaff are cheerful, friendly and efficient. We always enjoy breakfast here!

First, order the coffee cake with your breakfast, it’s absolutely amazing. Bacon perfect, steak perfect. What sets this place a part is the service. They came by every 2 – 3 minutes and filled my coffee. We will buy a pie and update later. Im looking forward to good pie.

Been here quite a few times. Feeling is the same. Food is okay, not great. It has a greasy vibe to the food I dislike a lot. So, it’s not horrible. Service is good. It’s just not great.

There are a few times in my life when I’ve experienced apple pie at its finest. I know you guys are saying get a life. While at the coast I was thinking make my own or venture out and see if others can make good pie also. I drove 15 miles to pickup a fresh pie from the Chalet. While standing in the lobby the food being served looked amazing and I thought I need to come back here for dinner. That night I heated the pie up and served it with vanilla ice cream. It melts in your mouth and was the best I’ve had in years. We will be back soon. Thank you!

Recommended to me by a friend. I won’t hold that against my friend tho! Food was sub par with high prices to match. Avocado omelet was tasteless. Coffees not refilled. Biscuit was so dry I had to ask for a refill of water. I won’t be back.

Smelled amazing when we walked in. Very homey. A very busy place, but I could see why. The food was very good. Our waitress was Krysta, a friendly girl. I hade the country breakfast, the biscuit was served ahead of time which was nice because I was hungry. Eggs, country fried steak and hash browns were really good, not greasy. At first the hash looked overcooked but it was perfectly tasting. The kids loved their food too!

Late dinner just before closing. Everything tastes fresh and home made. Dressings, sauces and jelly all so tasty and real. We had breakfast for dinner, the bacon is SOGOOD! Took a cinnamon roll to go. Pies are very good! Service has been wierd the last several times we have been there. Servers buzzing around yet no one greeted us. We seated ourselves and it took several minutes for someone to visit our table. Server personalities are quiet and shy. One gentleman server-manager seemed to be concerned about everyone but is the only one with a sense of urgency. Only exception to all the great food we have had is the clam chowder which was gelatinous and goo-like. Strange flavor, none of the 4 of us could finish it. The soft service, lack of a warm welcome and terrible clam chowder hold back a 5th star.

American food at it’s finest. Had the captain’s plate. A smörgåsbord of fried delectbles. The calamari and calm strip and the shrimp were fremade frozen, but the oysters and fish were breaded and fried in house. The only complaint I could come up with was the cocktail sauce needed more horseradish. Had the chocolate mousse pie for desert and it was absolutely delicious. I hate pie crust. Can’t stand it. I ate every crumb. It was thin, and super flaky. The bakers know what they are doing. Alot of restaurants in newport, but if you want down home… go here.

The biscuits here are phenomenal, whenever we come over here from the valley we stop in for breakfast, everything we have ever ordered is great and their bakery items are top notch!

Came here for breakfast yesterday. People are raving about the biscuits… mine tasted old and reheated in a microwave. I guess you have to get them the day they are made. The gravy was DISGUSTING! Tasted like it came from a can. Took a few bites and couldn’t make it past the metallic/sour taste. Just gross. The pancakes were good. Not as fluffy as some people have said they are, but they were decent enough. Good bacon. Coffee was above-average. I might come back for the pancakes and bacon, but will stay away from the biscuits and gravy. Service was good. Only one waitress and she had her hands full. But she did great.

We were looking for a non fancy breakfast spot and got sent here by the people from Dutch Bro’s down the street. It was very good traditional breakfast food. I had the original breakfast special or something along those lines. Basically pancakes, eggs and choice of meat(sausage patty in my case). It did not disappoint. The pancakes were super fluffy and really good. My wife had hash browns, eggs and bacon with side of coffee cake. No complaints on her side. The only thing I would mention is the small orange juice is VERY small. Service staff was very friendly. We will definitely be back when we are in town again.

Breakfast review here. 9am quickly seated and great service by Aurea. Coffee was good and cup was kept filled along with water glasses! Ordered the chicken fried breakfast meat was tasty, hash browns crispy and eggs cooked PERFECTLY! Chalets country gravy is great and the fluffy homemade biscuit was delicious(especially with the homemade preserves) My only negative here is the Banana fudge pie… I didn’t care for it… sounded like heaven but was the wrong kind of chocolate for me. I will return.
