I have been here several times, but always because I was with a group who selected it. Certainly not my favorite place to eat. Atmosphere: It is a traditional smokehouse in décor and service. Very casual. Able to accommodate big parties which is why I have been there so many times. Service: I feel like it is a tossup whether I am going to get good service there or not. The hostess always starts out as polite and I have always been seated in a reasonable time without issue. However, sometimes I get a waitress whose attitude indicates that she would rather be doing anything right now in the world than listening to what you want and bringing it to you. Other times, I will get the sweetest, most congenial waitress who is just looking to ensure I have a good experience and enjoy my food. Food: One of my favorite things about southern BBQ is the appetizers. I love fried pickles and deviled eggs; both can be found here on the menu. I don’t order their fried pickles anymore because the last few times they have been so over-fried that they are dried out and the flour they use is usually heavily salted(the pickle is plenty salty enough… you don’t need to add salt). The deviled eggs are as finicky as the service; sometimes they are delicious and I enjoy myself quite nicely… other times they are weird and off and dry and I can’t eat them. I usually go with pulled pork BBQ and this they keep pretty consistent. I like it well enough but I am a sucker for my husband’s pulled pork(trust me, not a fair comparison) so I never crave the one from Smoke.

This place is as good as it gets and then some!!! I place my order from my Gremlin because I have a rolling hot spot installed in the car. It’s always ready to go the second I get there!!! If you want to pop the button on your pants, assuming you are wearing any, try the SmokeMaster. Beef brisket and pulled pork married together on a bun. There have been times when I would go in and order three or four of these to take home in preparation for a Perry Mason Marathon. I don’t refrigerate the ones I don’t eat right away because I am able to consume them all in 12 hours or less. The only concern I have is making sure Hank, my pet Macaw, doesn’t get into them. He loves pork, maybe even more than me. One time he got into my sandwiches and was able to segregate and consume all the pork, leaving me with the brisket only. He really is an amazing bird and he likes cabbage too. When I go to Smoke BBQ, I usually only order the sandwiches because I like to go home and steam up some cabbage to enjoy with it. I get my cabbage from either Art’s or Food Lion, but occasionally if I can find a Korean market I’ll buy some there. Those people know their cabbage like no one else!!! Anyway, I don’t know if the SmokeMaster or Della Street makes me drool more. These sandwiches are«tops» with cabbage and Budweiser. Knowing that, why would you go anywhere else??? My only complaint is they don’t let you smoke there. More and more places are like that these days and I don’t get it. I mean tune in any episode of Perry Mason and everyone smokes. They smoke in their offices, in cars, in court, everywhere. I’d like to burn a Camel and look at Della laying in bed with a satisfied look on her face!!!

Have you ever been to smoke bbq smokehouse and restauraunt? Well know you will. they may be a bbq restauraunt but the salads were phenominal and i quite enjoyed my brisket. The waiters were kind and had a good sence of humor. And the whole visit was enjoyable. i hope to return for another visit.

Our first impression when entering was that we were heading into an unfinished place: unplugged heater at the front door, decorative pieces on the floor, bare floor. But I soon figured it out. It was a loud but fun setting and was about 75% full for a late Saturday afternoon lunch. We were seated quickly and the server(Momma…she didn’t look like a Momma!!!) arrived quickly. Our lunch started with mozzarella sticks made in their kitchen. They were nicely breaded(far from the usual served elsewhere) and the sauce was a bit sweet but very tasty! While Momma took our order promptly the entrée’s arrived after a wait of 20 minutes. Perhaps the group in the banquet room impacted the kitchen so be cautious should an event be taking place when you visit. Nevertheless, both sandwiches(the Smokemaster and Pulled Pork) were VERY generous but the sides were also sizable and fresh. We shared very fresh cole slaw, pork rinds(yup, BIG pork rinds with some ranch dressing), house made potato chips(well seasoned) and collard greens. Momma checked on us a couple of times, with a smile, which is always appreciated. In spite of the busy pace the restrooms were clean as was the entire place. In better weather I’m sure the outdoor areas are fun as well. For me this is a strong 4-Star that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Give it a try with friends!

This place is amazing. I’m extremely picky and I loved their food. Best wings I’ve ever had. The Mac and cheese was delicious. Their fries are great. It’s reasonably priced also. The customer service was incredible too. Our waiter Ian was so nice! The manager was going around to each table to make sure everyone was doing okay and I thought that was great. Smoke is one of my new favorites!

I ate here with my sister, we Oder the buffalo wings sweet which was amazing I also had the Cobb salad which was a little disappointing. oyut waiter was very nice and helpful I would definitely eat here again

I don’t know what happened to this place. I returned with some family because of my previously good experience and was very disappointed. We ordered some ribs(dry because of allergies) and a salad. We waited awhile and were eventually brought wet ribs. The waiter took the wet ribs and eventually returned with dry ribs, but the ribs were cold, like just removed from the fridge? The manager then apologized and said they would get it right the next time. Apparently he too was surprised that cold ribs could be delivered to a customer. The third rack of ribs were dry and hot, but were overly fatty and had an unpleasant steamed taste. I’m not sure if the last rack was simply microwaved but it lacked all smoke or bark flavor. Needless to say, I will not be returning after this experience.

Our wait on a Saturday was not that long, that’s always a good start for a meal! We looked through the menu and took a impromptu trip to the restroom to check out other people’s plates. I saw so many delicious items. I considered just taking random pictures of the food so I could share more with you! They do have a great selection of smoked meat choices and a large variety of «southern sides» offered. We choose the pick 3 platter. This is not a dinner for two like other restaurants per say. The platter is 3 meats(we choose ribs, ½ chicken and brisket) and 2 sides along with a cornbread. You can or should saw we split this between 2 people. The sides are not really big enough to share. So we each had one and took a sample of each others. The potato sad was good. Mustard base I would say and lots of bits in addition to the potato chunks. It seemed like mashed potato salad in addition to the chunks. It was smooth and creamy. Husband had mac and cheese and it was fine. I had the bbq chicken. The sauce was really good and although one side of my chicken was a little Pinker then I would like the other side was good besides slightly dry. He enjoyed his brisket and ribs. He also thought the cornbread was good. I also thought that was a little dry. He said it was my half because his half was really moist. Theres always room for dessert! Thats why I really go. We did finish dinner with a banana pudding and peach cobbler. Both were fine. They came in small bowls topped with whipped cream. We had a great server. He let us know the specials and provided us with a beer drink list. He topped off our drinks and circled our table throughout the dinner. Customer service was excellent.

I love love love this place. They have the best BBQ in the area. I have had several things off the menu and have enjoyed them all. Me and my husband split a pick 3 meal and still have left overs. The beef ribs are to die for and brisket and regular ribs are great too. The pulled pork is great as well. The nachos are awesome and enough for a meal or to share with several people. The mashed potatoes are so good and fried pickles are great. The prices are great for the amount you get. I have never had bad service or any issues with my food. Everything comes out fairly fast and hot. This place is the real deal. Don’t take my word for it go check it out and you won’t regret it… If you do your not at the right place or you don’t know what good food is.

Great BBQ for sure, now that I’m stuffed with babyback ribs. It was the special tonight, all you can eat for $ 20.00 The beef ribs was awesome as well. Brisket and pull pork was slamming. Great waitress! Got to try yourself!

Just enjoyed my SMOKE meal a second time tonight. The reheated remains of the St. Louis Style Baby Back Ribs were even better than the first run we made at them last night. «Bite & Pull off the Bone» tender, juicy and tartly sweet. So good each time that I found myself sucking the bones after all the meat was shorn off for the remaining hint of smoky flavor. If that wasn’t enough, the second coming of The Hog Dog(Half pound all beef Frank wrapped in Bacon and overloaded with Pulled Pork and House made Cole Slaw), was chopped up well and mixed into a great Fried Rice tonight. Southern BBQ meets Chinese large steel blade, rice and wok. Just Amazing with a little Hot Sesame Oil mixed in! But, let’s not forget all that came before these main courses. Their .50 Wings in Honey Bourbon glaze were sticky, plump, and a gnawing delight. They would have been perfect if the skin had been crispy. And, the Smoke Boats give new definition to loaded baked potato. Well mashed Taters put back into their skin, with Brisket, Bacon, Cheese, Sour Cream and Chives piled on. Almost the best thing we ate last night, except for everything else. Bro-Lo said his Cobb Salad was among the best he had eaten.(Maybe, but veggies weren’t where it was at for sonny boy and me last night.) Wish I could find this kind of dominant BBQ around here, but it does provide another reason to visit the family in Newport News.

Our server Jamison was absolutely awesome! He said he was new but he did a fantastic job! We were there relatively late so it was pretty quiet. We were served promptly and the food was very good. The deviled eggs were FABULOUS — a must try! Nice big screen TV’s if you are interested in watching the game and tables with some elbow room so you are not sitting immediately next to other customers. Nice place. If we lived in Newport News or Hampton, I could see this being a regular option for our family.

I won’t ever be going back here. The food was just ok, but the service was TERRIBLE. My husband and I came in for lunch. The place was busy, but not slammed. We were seated right away, but the server who was supposed to wait on us completely ignored us. He kept walking past us and tending a larger table. We looked at the menu for 15 minutes, and the selection looked good! So we kept waiting without a single server acknowledging us. We were about to walk out when another server asked if we’d been helped. She took our drink and appetizer order. Another 10 minutes later, she reappeared with our lukewarm beers and took our food order. We wait another 20 minutes for the pork belly appetizer. It was a little dry and portioned small. When our food came, my husband ordered another drink that never got delivered. But about the food: the beef ribs were huge and good. The half chicken was under seasoned and hiding in their house bbq sauce. The baked beans were delicious. The pork ribs and brisket were tender, but the brisket needs a sauce to go with it. The mac and cheese… oy. I’m not convinced it didn’t come out of a box. And the corn bread was dry and cold. Basically, the beef ribs and the beans made it a decent meal, but I was generally underwhelmed. At the end of the meal, we waited for another 10 minutes to get our check. All we did was wait around a lot and eat mediocre bbq. I wasn’t impressed. But I might get some of their beans to go one night to pair with dinner. Never again!

I have been looking for a good BBQ joint around the Tidewater Area that is up to par of my own. Well, I found one that is close. Driving down Warrick Blvd in New Port News Va you smell an aroma in the air that will make you do a double take. Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Bar is a cozy place emitting that aroma. So the wife and I gave it a shot and it was AWESOME! Nice hearty portions at a reasonable price. The Bar is small but has a large variety of spirits. Food was very good, the only problem was it was not hot but more warm. I guess I can understand because you don’t want to reheat smoked food too much for it will dry out. Really like this place, Ill be back,

I went to this location with some friends. We wanted to go somewhere different and chose Smoke BBQ. When we arrived, we were greeted by the intoxicating smell of smoking food on the outdoor grills. The smells alone excited us for a great smoke bbq experience. When we got in, the place was so clean. The décor was more of a modern rustic look, but still warm and inviting. The staff greeted us as soon as we got in the door. The hostess station also had a bunch of menus that were available for customers to take. We thought it was a nice touch since we had never been here. We ordered three different things and the food was great! The food came out hot and we didn’t have to wait too long. The staff worked together to make sure we had full drinks and any condiments we could imagine. We will be back soon!

Imagine if you will a hunger. A hunger for BBQ. Surrounded by tempting scents and delicious food all around you but not in front of you. That was my Smoke Experience. We were seated at the same time as another couple, orders were taken for both of us and sent to the kitchen. They were then served, ate, paid their bill and left before we ever saw our email. We flagged down a runner who tried to track down our server with no luck. An hour after ordering, we checked food status to find out it would still be another 15 minutes. But those delicious aromas, maybe it’s worth the wait! We decided to stay rather than canceling our order and leaving. Once our orders came out more disappointment ensued. I had the most flavorless dry brisket I’ve ever experienced. The highlight of my plate was the Herb Mashed Potatoes and Gravy(which were truly amazing) but so disappointing at a BBQ joint. Maybe they had a bad day and the service was off but I can’t imagine giving another shot for less than average food.
