This place is amazing. I had the salad, miso soup, and dynamite roll and I’m very impressed. They make high quality sushi and for a very reasonable price!

Loved this place! So happy we found it. We have been disappointed in some of the sushi restaurants near Fort Eustis, mainly because of a very noisy atmosphere or overly talkative wait staff/bartenders/customers and this place was relaxing with good food. I can’t wait to go back! The waitress was lovely, my food was great, and it wasn’t expensive.

Very good sushi spot one of the best around. Sushi is very fresh and this is one place where the service is actually friendly. I can tell you all the sushi is great I tasted everything and the prices are fair.

The food was really good! I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and a Seattle roll, they were both delicious! My husband ordered a rainbow roll and hot night roll he loved both of them! We will for sure be back to enjoy some more sushi!

We ordered takeout & our food was ready in 15 minutes. The interior of the restaurant is well decorated & inviting. We had 3 sushi rolls &2 hot entrees for $ 54. Everything was fresh & the food was tasty. The woman who checked us out was very friendly. The downside of ordering from here is that the menu online is limited & doesn’t include pricing. It also doesn’t provide a description of the food. I always try to grab a takeout menu so we can decide what we want.

I’m traveling these days. I rely on my Unilocal app. Always seems to help me find a good place. This was no exception. Good solid reviews so I went. Great sushi. Fresh. Tasty. We had the Katsu don, Volcano roll & Spicy trio. YUM! Service was fast, attentive, polite. If I come back through I’ll be sure to come here again!!!

Me and my daughter had dinner here about a week ago. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and it was super good. We both had the teriyaki chicken and it was pretty good. We were the only ones eating at this place throughout our whole meal. I was trying to figure out why they had no customers eating here, this place was pretty good and excellent service.

I had carry out from this place couples of time. The rolls are pretty good and flavorful. Lunch specials rolls trios is a good start for those wanting to try out this place. Overall I will come back if I’m in the area again.

This is a very good sushi restaurant, the ambiance is very nice. The total atmosphere is very relaxing. We enjoyed an entrée that featured everything from miso soup to shrimp tempura rolls. In other words the food was excellent. The only issue was the service after the meal was slow, it took 15 minutes to get our check. May have been a 1 time event so give them a try if not for the service, definitely for the food! Overall this place is a gem!

This is my go to sushi place, I literally come here way too often. I honestly like this place a lot more than Kero. It’s cheaper and to me the sushi is better. The sushi rice at Kero is a little bit better, but everything else, Osaka wins. I love the udon noodle soup they have here. The Tepenyaki Udon is so so good. The soup is flavorful, and they have surprisingly a lot of shrimp and chicken in it. Bonus points to Osaka for actually having Shiitake mushrooms in it as well. Trust me, you won’t find any better udon noodle soup in the area than Osaka. As for sushi, the shrimp tempura roll is perfection. The shrimp tempura is cooked so well. And they include 2 whole shrimp tempura’s in one roll. I’m a fan of their eel roll as well. I brought my parents here once, and they’re pretty pick when it comes to eating out(especially at Asian places), but they loved this place. Service is friendly and quick. I probably eat here at least twice a month, take out or dine in. There is never a lot of people in there, so you can be sure it’ll be a quiet and peaceful dinner.

Of all the sushi places I’ve been to, this one is the worst. Miso soup was terrible. It’s basically just water without tofu or seaweed. No complimentary salad like every other Japanese restaurant. They charge you $ 2.5 for an extra bowl of rice. I can’t taste the vinegar in the sushi rice. Not authentic at all. Will have to go to Norfolk to get decent sushi.

It’s a cute little place in an apt complex area and the lady server was very attentive. This is where the good part ends. I was really craving Japanese food and sushi and based on Unilocal reviews decided to give this place a go. And given that I picked the place for my family, I really tried to find redeeming features to justify my selection. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food dish after dish. For appetizers my family had seaweed salad(was good), edamame(was overcooked and too soft), beef negimaki(was mushy), fried calamari(it seemed like the oil was not heated enough so the coating was not crispy and almost gooey), and miso soup(seemed very diluted, without seaweed and miso flavor). We had ordered the sushi deluxe with salmon and spicy tuna rolls added, oyaki don(chicken katsu with egg and onion over rice) and chicken teriyaki for the main meal. The sushi rice was very mushy and had almost no flavor, it almost seemed borderline sweet and I could not taste the rice vinegar. We were taking the fish off of the rice and putting wasabi to try to give the rice more flavor. The fish on most sushi pieces were cut very thick, so in general it was not a very enjoyable sushi dining experience. The spicy tuna roll was not very spicy, but the salmon roll was done well. As for the chicken katsu, I think it was suffering from the same issue as the calamari as the outside was not very crispy, though the chicken was nice and tender on the inside. The rice sauce was well flavored and went well with the onions, however, the scrambled egg was very mushy. The chicken teriyaki was more of cooked chicken with teriyaki sauce over it rather than typical sizzling chicken teriyaki that is served in Japanese restaurants. So all in all, we left full, but not satisfied with the meal.

Hawaiian roll was a hit but service not so much and somewhat limited menu. Overall the food was pretty good if looking for one or two unique items on the specials board and then fairly basic limited selections otherwise. Unfortunately the server was not very attentive, but had a nice relaxing environment while waiting on her. She actually stopped in the middle of taking our order to go seat a couple who walked in and take their drink order before returning to finish our meal order. I would probably give this a 2.5 stars if an option but due to the Hawaiian roll rounded it up to the three for now.

Nice, quiet place to have lunch. Great selection/variety. Fast and friendly service. The temperature of the dining area was a little on the cold side, so the atmosphere could have been greatly improved just by turning up the thermostat a bit.

Had a nice experience. We arrived for a late dinner around 7p.m. and the restaurant was very quiet, a big group had just left as we were arriving and there was only one other table which left us to enjoy the classical music that was playing for a nice romantic evening. A couple of other tables arrived shortly after us but mostly it was quiet. Our server was incredibly nice and attentive. We ordered some unfiltered sake(smooth and delicious) and some green tea(it was mediocre) and the sushi Love Boat. We were VERY pleased with our meal and with the size. My boyfriend thinks we should have had even more food for the price… he’s a pig though lol. The boat came with a salad and a soup for each of us also. Very small, quiet place. Great for a quiet evening. Our total bill was about $ 78.

Okay I love my Japanese-esque foods, like really love. Especially anything sushi and tofu related and the two stars is mostly due to the horrible service rather than the actual food itself. I used to go here a lot during my freshman year in college when the apartment complex and shopping centers first opened up. This place was a lot smaller and the folks working here were also a lot nicer. I came back recently and found that they have expanded which made me happy because they must being doing well. Anyway, the new décor doesn’t seem fancier than the orginal spartic décor when it first opened. It now looks a bit cheap honestly. I’ve walked in multiple times and had to wait a good while before I was even acknowledged and most times its not even busy-I’m usually the first or second guest to arrive. Bad already! I usually have the unfortunate luck of having the same older Asian lady as a waitress who is so freakin rude and mean. Both times that I have gone she is short and never returns for drink refills and definitely not to see how the food tastes. She gets irratiable if you place«large» orders and makes rude remarks, so I can totally relate to Elizabeth V.‘s post. The food however is okay. Some of thier stuff like the veggies, particualrly mushrooms and bamboo shoots taste super canned. I do however like how they make their tofu teriyaki, however the last couple times I’ve went they’ve been out. I’ve ordered thier sushi tray for about 30 – 40 bucks once and it was decent not much fish variety. Overall, the food is okay nothing fabulous. I do not see myself coming back here for a good while as there are better Japanese inspired areas throughout NN that offer better food and definitely better service. That same rude lady literally came back after my meal was done and just stood there waiting to see how much of a tip I would write in. I asked here if she needed something and she just spat out, «No tip? Where’s my tip?» I was like lady can I write and sign my name? Give me some space. Geez. Ugh. Desperate and greedy.

First visit. Nothing bad to report. Ordered the 15 piece sashimi plate and was very satisfied. Service was prompt and attentive. Décor is conservative and during my visit there were very minimal patrons. Quiet place to eat that Friday evening I must admit. The saki was hot and potent :-) A definite recommend. I’ll be going back to try other items, but I’m a sashimi kind-a-guy, so I’ll be partial to that …

I love this place! I’ve tried two other sushi places in the area, and they just do not meet the level of awesomeness that Osaka is. The wait staff is awesome, very attentive. My husband and I have gone here so many times that they already prepare our drink order as we take our seats. I love the ambience at Osaka as well. The overhanging banners above the booths really set it apart from other generic sushi places. I also like the music they play here better than at other sushi restaurants. Their fish is the freshest I’ve had in this area, and their rolls are wonderful. I knocked off one star because it would be nice to see a bit more variety in their specialty rolls, and their drink menu is pretty limited. If I remember correctly, they don’t have lemonade or Kirin Light. This isn’t enough of a problem to keep me from returning, though.
