Had a Paint Nite event here this afternoon and the place is lovely, besides the construction right in front and lack of parking because of it… I had looked at the menu on Unilocal!and was drooling over the thought of the Bacon Wrapped Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates… After we ordered drinks I asked for the Dates… Waiter came back and said«bad news we don’t have the Dates» oh the horror as I had dreamed of them all night! Ok take two on Antipasti… Ordered the Meatballs and Focaccia, two separate dishes… OMG! They were fantastic! I am Italian so the more bread the merrier, and the meatballs were AMAZEBALLS! Then of course cause we wanted something with Goat Cheese, we ordered the warm roasted Beets with Goat Cheese. I have never had Beets of any kind, but these were also very yummy, but the goat cheese had melted a little to much for our liking… Last thing we ordered was the Tiramisu… Waiter came back«I have bad news again» I said«no dammit» lol and then another waiter came up and said well maybe it’s already made… He came back with Tiramisu… LOVE! Tastes just like I make it! Great place! Will definitely be back for an actual dining experience! Paint Nite was great fun!

Food was great and our waitress I think her name was Tasha, was amazing. We ordered some brunch and lunch items and everything was delicious. My favorite was the diavola pizza. Not as spicy as I expected but great flavor.

Their appetizers were great and so was the pizza. I think our group ordered all of them and we shared. So good. You could really taste the fresh cheese. The polenta bites and meatballs were good too.

We had a selection of appetizers they were all good. The meatballs were great and the sauce they came in was so good we are every last bit. The polenta bites were really good too. Our group had many of the pizzas. The special was really good and so was the sausage one. The Nutella dessert pizza was really good as well. It was enough for our group of 7 to share.

It is very difficult to find a good Italian pizza in the USA… at least, a pizza that tastes exactly like it does in my native Country. Settebello is one of the few places where you can enjoy a great pizza made with fresh ingredients in a great setting. Do try their Cheese and meat platter: it offers a great selection of Italian cold cuts and cheeses for a fair price. Their complimentary bread is also excellent. We came here on a busy Saturday night with a party of 6 people and had a very good experience. The only reason why this review did not get 5 stars is the slow service but it might be to the fact that we came on a busy night. Still, it did not feel right to wait over 20 minutes for the waitress to refill our glasses.

BEST Gluten-Free pizza! This is the first gluten-free crust I’ve tried that actually tastes and feels like REALPIZZA! My family really enjoyed their traditional crust as well. This is definitely going to be our go-to spot when in the area.

Nice ambience and décor but the pizza was super soggy and all the toppings were just running off onto the plate. Wouldn’t recommend, waste your money elsewhere.

My wife, daughter and her three children dined at Settebello tonight, and we all thought everything we had was great. We started off with the crostini crudo, which was the crostini with proscuitto crudo with arugula, shaved parmesan and some balsamic vinegar. It was really great! Then came the crispy polenta bites, yum, then the misto, which was excellent. Pizzas were ordered and each one was very authentic southern Italian pizzas, Neapolitan. Overall, along with the service, we were very happy and loved trying this restaurant out. We have been to Italy many times, and this food is straight from Italy. Grazie!

First visit found pizza to be served Luke warm and soggy from being half cooked. Service slow. Cold flow of air conditioner Made the pizza cold. Will not return. Too many good pizza places around. No view not worth the drive.

Good atmosphere. Nice looking bar. Moscow mule was good. The pizza was good. Not mouth-watering, but good. I would go back if I wanted pizza in an upscale atmosphere. That’s what sets this place apart from other pizza joints.

My wife and I had dinner here last night to celebrate her birthday. I had read about Settebello several times and she is always up for something new so we decided to give it a try. Our server, Josh was nice and helpful. He suggested a cocktail for my wife which he said was popular. It wasn’t her cup of tea but she could see why it was popular. We ordered the Misto to start with and it was excellent. The cheeses were fresh and it had 4 different types of meats. The baked foccacia was the perfect complement to the appetizer. We ordered two pizzas: The Margherita DOC and the Vico. My wife’s favorite was the Vico while I thought that both were good. I am typically not a fan of Napoletana or «wet» pizzas since I enjoy a more full and crispy crust all the way to the center. That said, I am open to different styles and can respect it. The flavor was excellent. My wife commented that when she went to Naples, she dined at L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele which was the pizzeria people know from the movie Eat, Pray, Love. Her opinion was that Settebello was essentially an excellent comparison to that type of pizza she had when she was there. I think that would be the goal for this establishment in terms of comparison because that pizzeria is legendary in Italy.

I’ve been here several times for wine and pizza. Great outdoor indoor atmosphere. Comfortable couches and bar area. My friend said this is the best pizza she’s ever eaten and I agree. Fantastic wines.

Held a paintnite event during noon and came in early. So we decided to sip on our Cosomo and wait for other painters to arrive. The place is located in the plaza and with my navigation I had to make a uturn. The cocktails are shaken up pretty strong. Its a cute little spot for a date night. After your meal you can walk around and do some little shopping.

We had(quite a few) drinks at the bar with Steve, the awesome bartender. As a negroni«beginner» he recommended that I try the Dutch Negroni — it was delicious! Not as bitter as the traditional, lightly sweet, and super refreshing! We also had a Misto plate — really tasty Italian meats and cheeses served with steaming hot focaccia bread. The atmosphere is really great, too — open, airy, trendy. We will definitely be back with a bigger appetite — the pizzas looked amazing :)

I’ve been here for two separate events, and I’ve got no complaints! I’m a big fan of the interior space: trees and a TON of natural light give Settebello quite the unique vibe. The spread layout makes the restaurant even more atmospheric, and I can definitely see myself spending a lot of time here. Both times I’ve come, we occupied the entire area behind the bar; it’s cozy without being too cramped, thanks to the open space around us. Service has been very solid with our large parties, too. I haven’t tried anything from the restaurant’s menu, per se. The first time they provided appetizer platters, including bacon-wrapped dates and various salumi. We shared an assortment of pizzas the second time; one I remember in particular had prosciutto and corn, which was a surprisingly nice texture combination. Nothing I’ve had has been extraordinary, but the normal menu does look enticing. The bar’s got some good cocktails, too. I’ve had the Rustic Sicilian twice(bourbon/lemon/ginger), and a friend enjoyed a virgin rendition of the Marine Layer(vodka/strawberry/basil/lemon/syrup/soda). The Crime & Punish-Mint has been popular too, but that’s what happens when you put a bunch of law students in the same room. Anyway, I could see myself lounging around Settebello for hours. It’s a lovely space with food that seems good enough to return to, and return I shall.

I have never been here before and checked out the brunch. The restaurant is really cool looking with the outdoor being indoor concept. So it looks like a an outdoor café inside. The front half of the restaurant has cushy leather couches and coffee tables. It made for a fun and relaxing spot to dine. The service was great! The lady who greeted us was also our server. She was friendly and really good about checking on us. Now onto the food! The avocado egg crostini was SOGOOD! The French toast with Nutella was a little bit too toasted. If it was just a wee bit softer it would’ve been great! Other than that I liked how the French toast was not too heavy. The pizza carbonara was delicious as a pizza but lacked the bacon! Overall, service was great, interior really cool and the food almost perfect.

Came here couple of weeks ago. Were seated immediately by a happy smiling hostess. Love the décor and the many different seating areas. You can see them cooking in the kitchen if you’re seated in the dining room. Our waitress, Tori was friendly and professional. She suggested the Umbria Pizza since my husband is a vegetarian. It was very good! Along with it, we ordered Beet Salad and Bottle of Aglianico. Everything tasted great! Will be back to try other items on the menu.

I came across Settebello after trying Bear Flag for the first time and just at a passing glance in the evening, I was intrigued by the rich mahogany interiors and floor to ceiling windows. I had a feeling I would swoon over the space during the day, especially with the presence of natural light. Swoon was such an understatement. Large skylights fill the dining room with warmth and cozy vibes, while olive trees rooted in soil around the bar and marbled counter tops contrast the ethereal space. It just feels so dreamy! My brother and I started lunch with a bottle of wine while we waited for friends to join us. If you’re unsure of which bottle or glass to get, ask for a sample if available or ask your server for recommendations. We sampled St. Suprey’s Sauvignon Blanc and Zenato’s Pinot Grigio since we thought a white wine was most appropriate for the weather. The Sauvignon Blanc was very fruit forward and sweet, which may overwhelm the palate if paired with a meal, so we decided to go with the lightly tart pinot grigio to balance the meal ahead. As our friends arrived, we spent a few minutes going over the menu and figuring out what we wanted to try. We had the most trouble settling on which antipasti or appetizers to get since we wanted to keep the meal light. My brother and I agreed on an Insalata Grande and a warm beets antipasti to start. The mixed greens tossed with fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, mushrooms, pine nuts, cracked pepper, shaved Parmigiano was finished with a Balsamic vinaigrette. It was a pretty large portion and loved the generous amount of Parmigiano atop. The warm beets were simply roasted and topped with a dill goat cheese crema, crushed almonds and olio. It actually paired well with the salad as well, but really enjoyable on their own too. We also shared a pizza Carbonara with crushed tomatoes, pancetta, egg, cracked pepper, Parmigiano, mozzarella and basil. I thought there would be actual whole eggs baked onto the pizza with the runny yolk business, but it was just mixed and poured on. I could care less for that, haha. I would have preferred a bit more fresh torn basil, but the pancetta was a nice smoky addition to the flash bake in their woodfire oven. Our friends got a platter of Prosciutto with a ball of burrata(an additional charge of $ 6), bacon wrapped dates with fried basil leaves and the special pizza of the week: tortilla spagnola. The special pizza of the week was a tortilla spagnola, which comprised of mozzarella, chorizo, basil, white onion, egg, potato sauteed with garlic, red pepper flakes and rosemary. Friends really enjoyed the potatoes on the pizza, but if you love cheese, don’t be afraid to ask for some parmigiano on the side. Our meal did not end here. We continued the food excursion with dessert. With our server’s honest opinions about our selections, we narrowed it down to two options to share among the four of us. The tiramisu is made with housemade ladyfingers dipped in espresso, layered with a whipped mixture of mascarpone cheese and eggs and dusted with cocoa powder to finish. There was much more cream than the soaked ladyfingers, which were a bit on the soggy side. Pretty good, but we’ve had better. The torta della nonna is a lemon tart pastry with a lemon cream on top of a shortbread base, then topped with pine nuts. I really lemon tarts, but this one was a bit on the sweet side. There was a lot of powdered sugar dusted on top. However, the lemon cream was quite satisfactory. Because the pizzas are Napoletan style, they are doughy with a wet center and typically eaten with a knife and fork. However, the foldable slices are thin and easy to eat if you choose to use your hands. Although I was unfamiliar with Napoletana style, the pizzas were very simple and allowed the freshness of ingredients to show itself. I personally enjoy the thin crust, but I would have enjoyed it more if it were less soggy/wet at the center of the pie. The dishes that left an impression were the everything but the pizza. I may just come back to try the panzanella insalata, more antipasti dishes and a few crostinis(anchovy and artichoke sound amazing). Until next time friends!

I’ve been to 2 other locations of settebello but this location has the best space. It’s spacious, has open doors to the outside and olive trees inside. The bar is big and has an inviting space as well. The food was great as always we had the salad, crispy polenta bites and some pizzas. I love how they carry hot chili oil too like in Italy. The only problem I had that deterred me a little was the cleanliness of the bathroom. Looked like no one had checked up on it for days!

Settebello is a gorgeous new restaurant in Newport Coast that offers a great ambiance but a forgettable Pizza. To say that that Settebello was flying under the radar with their opening in Crystal Cove is an understatement. I had no idea this restaurant existed prior to Dan H. inviting me to grab a bite for Newport Beach Restaurant Week. The interior of the restaurant is incredible; bright, airy and wide open spaces with mature trees growing out of the floor and a(somewhat obstructed) view of the Pacific Ocean. The waitstaff is completely on point as well, from the Mixologists to the floor Manager, everyone was both friendly and professional throughout the meal. Settebello’s menu is centered around Pizza Napoletana which is a soft crust pizza that they flash bake for about a minute in their smoking hot oven. All of the ingredients are hand selected and can come from as far as Naples, Italy. I chose to go with my personal favorite Napoletana offering; the Margherita which features crushed Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Basil, Parmigiano Reggiano and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I can attest to the quality of the ingredients and care that goes into each pie. The pizza was an attractive beauty, no doubt. But how did it taste? Well, in a word… muted. The cheeses did not offer the nuttiness or creaminess I was expecting and the Mozzarella fell off of the slices as little coagulated globs onto my plate which was disappointing. The crushed Tomatoes and Basil were the standout attractions which brings me to the real issue with Settebello: their crust. Neapolitan pies are very soft, well… their crusts are anyways. If you try to fold and eat one like a NYC Pizza, it will literally fall to pieces in your hands. When I tried the knife and fork technique the toppings would simply slide off the crust. I ended up having to manipulate each topping and the crust bite for bite to get the full flavor profile. It was pretty annoying honestly. As the pie cools, the worse the issue becomes. The Rucola Salad on the other hand was commendable, if not delicious. Fresh and peppery Baby Arugula and Lemon Juice & Extra Virgin Olive Oil are tossed and plated on top of lines of Balsamic. This is a perfect Salad for a hot summer day and the presentation was particularly pleasing. It is unlikely that I would visit Settebello again for Pizza alone, but I could see a Happy Hour stop for appetizers and drinks or a light lunch with another order of the Rucola Salad again in the future.
