I live in Newport Beach, have been to every Italian restaurant around… Sapori is by far the best. Beautiful ambiance, or if you prefer something more casual, the pizza bar is right next door. Food is amazing– not average Italian. The owner is always there welcoming people. Very fresh, accommodating, great service, fabulous wine menu.

I love Sapori. You cannot go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. They have a great wine selection and the servers are very nice. Personally i order pasta every time i go but the pizza and the specials are always very satisfying (i always sneak a bite from whoever i go with). My favorite pastas are the al salmone and the fettuccine because i like thick creamy sauces. But like i said you cannot go wrong. Oh! I almost forgot they give bread with olive oil and vinegar before you get your meal. Tip: careful not to eat it all and save room for the actual meal lol

This place is horrible. The service is great but the food is disgusting. We ordered the seared scallop appetizer. who messes up a seared scallop appetizer… And we ordered the eggplant appetizer which was so incredibly bland. we couldn’t finish but a bite of both of those things. and the entrees weren’t notable either. I ordered Alfredo pasta with a scallop substitute. This time the scallops tasted better but the Alfredo sauce was worse than cici’s pizza’s Alfredo! And then we ordered the sausage spaghetti which was not surprisingly good either.

One star because it is geographically convenient for me. Last week was my second time. Once for dinner and this time for lunch. It was a repeat performance of very poor food. The chicken parm was so over cooked, so dry and mostly over cooked breading. The chicken piccata had a bland flavor and microwaved type hot spots.
The food was also carried at the bottom of dirty plates. We requested to speak to a manager but we were told there wasn’t any manager working. No Mgr during lunch! The server Hannah said the food would be prepared fresh for us and boxed up for us to be able to go. When I got home there was no chicken piccata. Only chopped up angel hair pasta that was carried under dirty plates. My friend who ordered the chicken parm called and said. I just opened my Sapori food and there is our left over bread and no chicken parm.
I attempted to call the restaurant several times. Each time I reached an auto vm saying to make a reservation leave a message. No other options and no human to answer the phone.
The worst restaurant experience ever. Poor poor quality food, contaminated in front of us and. Well you read the rest. I called my credit card company to get charge reversed. Next call health department.

Was at Sepori Italian Resturant yesterday for lunch. I had the lasagna which was as good as homemade. One of the best lasagna I have had in a restaurant, as good as Antonello’s Restaurant. However, the portion was small for the price. Could be the reason that the restaurant is not busy at lunch time. My suggestion to the owner, Salvadore, is to reduce the price to $ 8 or $ 9 for lunch or double the portion for lunch. Great atmosphere and excellent service. The staff was very professional and friendly. I love this resturant and highly recommend it.
I am going to try the pizza at Sapori Pizzeria which is next door. However, it doesn’t open until 4:30pm. I suggest to Salvadore the owner, to open the pizzeria for lunch, which would make a lot of sense to me and so many other customers.

Our very favorite restaurant. Never been disappointed. Great service and great food. The veal Gorgonzola is outstanding!
It’s not currently on the menu but they will make it for you. They just go out of their way to please!

Arriving early for our reservation at Bayside Restaurant, I discovered Sapori while strolling down the shopping center. The attractive outdoor seating area, intimately enclosed within hedges, attracted me – even on a cold, winter night… therefore, it was determined to be our next dining destination.
I’d partly expected to be asked for our seating preference upon checking in with the hostess; instead, we were guided to our indoor table. While still early (and empty), we weren’t seated in what I’d consider to be among the most attractively-​positioned tables in the restaurant (the hostess wasn’t terribly friendly or receptive to us being seated elsewhere). Fortunately, our server and the bus staff was friendly and professional. When asked for input between a salad vs. the minestrone soup, I was confidently directed towards the soup ($ 7.50) — which was hot (in temperature), tasty, with a generous serving of small, tender vegetable bites. The Salmone alla Griglia ($ 28.95) was a decent, but smaller-​than-​expected serving, artistically garnished with a vandyked lemon half, and a small fan of thin asparagus spears. We finished off with their Crème Brulee — a nice portion, decent texture, served in a round ramekin, but more lemon-​y than preferred.
Service was very pleasant; however, not very attentive — it’s as if they cut you off after 1.5 glasses of water, and after the the 2nd cup of coffee. Corkage fee: $ 25.

Incredible crust! On both pizza and panini (jatter only available at lunch). And by the way, Sapori opened a pizzeria next door which is open for lunch as well as dinner. Best napoletana pizza I’ve ever had.
Update: they don’t serve pizza at lunch for now. Sal, please bring it back!

Great neighborhood spot. Nice margarita pizza! Arugula salad was really fresh and nicely dressed and we loved shrimp appetizer! Great little patio setting and not too noisy. Really enjoyed the evening!

I brought one of my closest friends here for her birthday Thursday September 24 for a little wining and dining. There were three of us in total. We were greeted by the host when we arrived and seated quickly. It took our server about 15 minutes to approach our table and once he did it seemed like he was in a rush. No eye contact. Very understandable, it was busy for him. There was a lot of waiting involved with our server. We saw more of the bussers than we did him. There was a good amount of time between ordering our waters, drinks, appetizers, and our entrée. I kept scanning the room for our server and I would see him with his other tables taking his time to talk to them and checking up on them. That was frustrating.
Maybe he thought because we were younger and wouldn’t leave a decent top that he did not have to put enough effort into us. We still have him the 18% tip that he did not deserve, because we did not want the people he had to tip out to suffer.

Ristorante italiano molto buono!
The food was excellent and very close to the real Italian food we eat in Italy (my husband is from Italy and was not disappointed at all). The service was good too. We spoke to the waiter who had been working in this restaurant for many years, and who is also Italian.
The price is quite high, but it is definitely worth it knowing we get to travel a little through their food.

Many levels of wrong.
— Made a reservation at 530pm and the person making the reservation said we have to be out by 7 because they are very busy. Odd, but OK?!? I just wanted a quick bite anyway so we took the reservation.
— very slow service. Waiter came by 2 maybe 3 times the whole night. Took excessively long to get our food, and when we got our food it was wrong.
— food was just OK. Overpriced.

I am so happy the pizzeria opened up finally! I just returned from Italy and the pizza here is by far better than anything we had in Italy, even in the Naples area. We spoke with the owner when he came over to our table to see how everything was, and you can sense his passion for the product as well as the top notch ingredients he uses. They are even importing their own olive oil from Sicily now! Needless to say we picked up a bottle.
I would highly recommend the Casertana pizza with smoked mozzarella, sausage and broccoli rabe. Also, there is a younger bartender who is pretty handsome and makes an incredible aperol spritz. But don’t tell my husband that!
We love coming here and love the service!

My sister had come here in the past and raved about how good the food was, so we decided to take our party of seven for our cousin’s 22nd birthday. At first glance the restaurant looked very nice with the patio area. Service was good. no complaints at all, except I got a big crack in my wine glass and all they did was just poured the wine into another glass. Then gave it back to me. If this was restaurant I would’ve poured a little more wine for the guest. Good thing I didn’t cut my lip on the glass.
The main reason I’m only giving 2 stars is because of the food. For appetizer we ordered the calamari, which was good but was not worth the price because there was not many pieces on the plate. Out of the 6 main courses that we ordered four of them were disappointing. The Alfredo sauce in one of the dishes was disappointingly thin. Would’ve preferred getting a hearty soup. The chicken piccata was always the favorite, but this time it tasted so salty. Almost as if the chef dumped the whole content of the salt shaker in the chicken. The excuse was that the dish had capers. I’m a cook and there are ways to minimize that with the sauce or other items on the plate. Another one of our plates had salmon and it tasted so fresh that you can almost taste the sea. Basically, the food was either too bland or too salty.
Our bill ended up being more than $ 200, but I didn’t feel that it was money well spent.

Finally a place where the pizza taste like Italian authentic food, best pizza in Cali by far, my mom visited from Florence Italy and said it was even better than many gourmet pizzeria in Italy ‚
We are Italian because we were born in Italy, so we know good food, pizzeria sapori is a must try in Newport.

For the record, this is a really late review.
I don’t know what I was thinking when I chose this place for dinner. The pictures must’ve fooled me into thinking this place was something that it wasn’t…or maybe I didn’t look at the pictures? I don’t even remember. All I know is that I thought this would be a nice Italian restaurant.
And while the décor is nice, the food was a huge disappointment.
I think had chilean seabass and it was the worst fish I’ve ever had. There’s fresh and then there’s TOO fresh. It’s as if they literally just caught the fish and threw it on my plate. I could only taste the sea. Terrible… I had to force myself to choke it down because it was really expensive.
The waiter was great, no complaints there.
Also, I only saw senior citizens here, which is fine, but I was all dressed up thinking I’m going somewhere nice and romantic. I was embarrassed by being so dressy when it was just rich older people having a casual Friday dinner.
