Pizza Petes

The smell was wonderful so we went in. We ordered a medium pizza with 2 toppings.
It came a little burnt and definitely the smell was much better than the taste.

Not KOOL, Unilocal shows that they are open and I drive all the way down here because the weather so great and Pizza Pizza is closed up. How hard is it to update your Unilocal page people. I would love to get this place one stars but the fact is the food is really yummy however the new owners going to suck. The menu has changed the hours are not consistent and I’m just not a fan of this place like it used to be. So a little advice for the owner it’s really easy just go on to your business page and change the hours when you want to close early on a 90° day in orange county.

We stopped in for cheese pizza and soft serve ice cream. Both were fantastic, one of the best pizzas I’ve had anywhere. Definitely will be back.

If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat near the Balboa Pier, Pizza Petes has pizza by the slice. They have slices for $ 2.75 and a $ 7.50 2 slice & drink special. The pizza is nothing special. The crust isn’t crispy enough to my liking but it is quite a large slice. The sauce is good and the cheese is greasy. We came in for a quick bite because we were waiting for our harbor cruise. The boat took cash only but Pizza Petes takes cards. Service was friendly and the place was somewhat clean. They have tables as well as a bar area where you can dine.

Grabbed a quick slice here with friends before boarding the Catalina Flyer. Got an apple cider that was luke warm and tasted like apple juice.
I feel bad writing a bad review for this place because everyone was friendly working the counter but they also seemed a little stoned! haha.

Pizza is not as greasy and delicious as it used to be but still my favorite pizza place to go to in balboa. Never a bad experience but wish Elena still worked there. Always got 3 or more slices of that famous pepperoni.

My friends and I went to get pizzas and drinks. Since it was a beautiful night, we opted to sit outside. After eating, one of my friends wanted to get a refill of her drink. They refused to give her one because she ate her food outside of the restaurant. WTF!!!
No wonder they don’t have a lot of customers.

Mmmmmmm pizza. Super quick service. Two slices of pizza and a soda was $ 6. Not too shabby! Pizza wasn’t memorable, but it’s surely a good place for a quick bite to eat, especially if you just want to fill that pizza craving.

After a sun filled day of bike riding on the boardwalk, there is nothing better than a slice of pizza near the water. It’s thin, hot and the pepperoni was delicious. Exactly what was needed to recoup from a long few hours of fun in the sun! Quick, easy, nothing fancy and everything’s perfect.
Oh and the HOT DOG was the bomb (on a fancy hoagie roll)! Delicious, basic, beach food. Loved it!!!

So, jetzt auf deutsch:
Pete’s Pizza haben wir durch Zufall angesteuert. Wir wollten nebenan ein Motorboot mieten und nicht total hungrig in See stechen.
Es sollte aber auch nicht zu viel Zeit in Anspruch nehmen. Daher gingen wir zu Pete’s Pizza, weil es einfach das nächste war. Wir hatten 4x das Special für 6,95 $. Das waren jeweils 2 größere Stücke Pizza mit einem Getränk. Schmeckte alles sehr gut und der Raum war ganz angenehm. Gut, die Pizza war halt Sbarro oder Pizza Hut Style. Als Europäer ist man da ja anderes/​besseres gewohnt. Normalerweise esse ich in USA auch keine Pizza, weil ich sie Zuhause viel besser essen kann.
An der Decke hingen große Deckenventilatoren, die für Kühle sorgten. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es jedoch: es gab keine Toilette. Nur eine Öffentliche in ca.100m Entfernung. Darüberhinaus fand ich es etwas dreist, dass das Trinkgeld bei Kreditkartenzahlung mehr oder weniger vorgegeben war. Und das ganze bei kompletter Selbstbedienung. Verstehe ich nicht so ganz (?)…

Perfect spot to run in for a quick bite before cruising the beach. Pizza was pretty good and hot dog was juicy– high quality. The bun was Gross though. Not a good bun for a hotdog.

Got a pizza with extra cheese and ½ meatball and pitcher of soda for $ 28.35. Very thin pizza and no favor. Don’t waste your money.

Oh no, what happened? Is Pizza Pete’s trying to become the diet of all pizza places?
That’s was what I thought when I popped in last weekend. The crust has changed, and not in a good way. It was super, super thin crusted. Not NY-​style. more like. California fusion style, if you want to call it that? It was so thin and crispy it was like a chip.
And the sauce seems to have changed. There was no flavor. None whatsoever.
Décor is still a blast from the past and boasts of a beautiful beach town, but the pizza? Eh. I’ll pass by next time.
(Also, sorry, but 75 cents for a refill on a soda? Umm. profit hungry, much?)

I’m surprised at the range of reviews on this place. I’ve been coming here for over twenty years. I only get the pizza here, I haven’t had any desire to stray away from their core offering. I consider myself a pizza snob and this is usually the kind of place I stay away from– pizzas sitting under a heat lamp, in a high rent tourist zone, seems geared to kids, etc… But the slices are surprisingly very good. Get a cheese or pepperoni slice and sit outside while people watching. Plus, you can get and out with a slice in your hand within a couple of minutes.
Slices are on the small side, so I’d recommend getting two if your having a meal. Most pizza places in California have overly thick crusts, but this joint has a nice thin crust. I consider this a well kept secret in the OC pizza scene.
