Coffee is great but the staff are generally stuck up. I have been there 4 times due to the coffee being great only once I had a nice greeting. One time it was a tall girl working there and she was more interested talking to another girl than taking my order. I do not buy coffee to socialise with the staff but to get 5 seconds of attention whilst ordering would be nice.

Every time I visit from Arizona, Newport Coffee Co is my first stop. Not only are the l espresso drinks the best I’ve ever had, but the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Wish this great coffee shop was in my neighborhood:(guess I’ll just have to buy a beach house in Newport :)

I guessss I’ll take into consideration that the day Ben and I came to NCC was on an INCREDIBLY windy day… but they didn’t have any gelato available. Boo. Ben ordered the cappuccino and I got the vanilla latte. He tried the Stumptown and didn’t like it(I’ll leave that for his review to cover). I’m not too picky of a coffee drinker nor am I a huge fan of coffee except when I need to drink it to stay awake, so I thought the coffee was okay. It wasn’t as rich as the latte I had at Portola, but it wasn’t overly sweet like those at Starbucks.(Sorry for comparing you to Starbucks) Just a note, I suppose I shouldn’t expect much from a barista, but after being a regular at a local coffee shop near my university and being treated well, I had higher expectations for a small, local coffee shop. We weren’t greeted nor did we even get a smile :(we just got our coffee, did some work, and left without a word other than to pay and call out our drinks. I did overhear that it was one of the girls first day back, so despite a meh first impression, I’m willing to give it another try! Perhaps we just got off the wrong foot: P To end on a better note, there’s a great view from NCC as its right by the beach. We saw a rack of bodyboards sliding by because of the strong winds HAHA. PROS: + good wifi + good view/great for people watching CONS: — few tables/seats — mediocre service — minimal parking(meter)

Great place to hang out by the board walk and chill while having a chi latte. They also have gelato for a hot summer day. Love the atmosphere here!

Such delicious coffee! We got an iced vanilla latte as well as a hot mocha latte. Hot or cold, it didn’t matter. Stumptown coffee is so amazing and full-bodied. No added sugar, creamer, or milk was necessary either. Just a wonderful cup of coffee, perfectly prepared. And the location isn’t bad either!

Love the location and the variety of the menu. I got the iced latte and it was pretty good – I also love the cute sleeve the coffee comes in. Positives of the location: just a few steps from the beach and the pier, making it a great spot to grab your coffee on the go. Negatives of the location: the parking is horrendous at most hours of the day. The meters are expensive and it’s hard to find parking in general, making it difficult to just stop by for a quick cup of coffee. Great if you’re in the neighborhood, but a little inconvenient if you’re coming just for coffee.

A great local coffee shop. Yummy coffee. Not a huge corporate space(A Plus!) And right on the water front. What’s not to love! Salted Snowflake is a must for the holidays!

The iced coffee wasn’t that great. Tasted very bitter. Still, location is awesome and service was very fast. Maybe I went there on a off day(it was a weekend).

I was in Newport Beach for a whale and dolphin watching boat ride that my best friend got for me and my new husband. Searched online for some kind of coffee shop similar to Intelligentsia, as the only Intelligentsias in LA are far away from this area. This looked like a knowledgable coffee shop. I really love coffee and I had waited all morning for a really good cup. I went in and asked what kind of coffee they were brewing. I got odd looks from the baristas. One of them started to tell me they had a Guatemalan coffee, but I stopped her because I realized she was talking about coffee that had been brewed into a large metal container, where it had been sitting for who knows how long. I asked if they had any«pour overs,» and she said no. I didn’t get anything. I saw an image of a pour over on their Unilocal page, and some kind of cold drip, but I saw none of those that day and the baristas didn’t seem to have a problem telling me they didn’t do pour overs. Maybe they just weren’t doing them on that day… Their website claims that each cup is hand crafted by their baristas, but how is pouring a coffee out of a big tin and handing it to me in a paper cup«hand crafted»? And Dear Sean F., who responded to my review with a comment, I cannot reply to your comment. I’ll just tell you here it was in August, on the 17th, in the late morning/afternoon, when I visited LA.

1. Love this place! 2. Good service 3. Good prices 4. Amazing gelato-coffee float. Think the absolute best of coffee ice cream and this is it! 5. Okay caramel latte-not very strong. I would probably order an extra shot or two next time. 6. Americano is pretty good, again, not as strong as Starbucks 7. Love their Guatemalan brew! Good flavor. Right on the pier

Friendly service & great coffee! I’m a fan! First time here & love love loved the atmosphere. So chill, and right by across from the beach. The ladies working were super friendly. The parking in this area is usually a hassle, but I found a spot right away. I ordered a caramel latte on the rocks, but was made a caramel latte blended(Hence the –1 star). I didn’t mention anything to the ladies because I simply did not have time to wait for another drink to be made, so I just kept it. It was still delicious so it didn’t bother me as much. My boyfriend got the mocha latte blended. It was just as tasty! We’re definitely coming back to try this famous cold brew that I kept reading about! –1 Star for messing up my drink — It wasn’t busy at all. Only one other customer in the shop. Free Wifi Small location, but there are options to sit indoors or outdoors in front of the store Very clean!

You can’t EVER go wrong with Stumptown coffee. Well, maybe. But Newport Coffee Company has held up the name of Stumptown for me! I went into Newport Coffee Company last Saturday morning in dire need of some coffee. I just spent the last 45 minutes looking for parking and ended up parking literally half a mile away. When I walked into the shop, I was sweaty, kinda cranky, and most definitely… caffeine deprived, thus, had this splitting headache(can I get an «Amen» if you know the feeling… you coffee addicts…) To my surprise, Newport Coffee Company didn’t offer just one, but TWO kinds of Stumptown cold brews. There was the Nitro, where the brew came from tap and out flowed this beautifully, creamy colored(due to the many tiny dancing bubbles) coffee. Then there was the Single-origin cold brew that was brewed using the Kyoto-style tower. OMGNEWPORTCOFFEECOMPANY! WHYYOUMAKEMEHAVETOCHOOSE?!? I ended up getting the Nitro, because I’ve never tried their Nitro, and was pleasantly satisfied by my choice. A few hours later of chilling on the beach, I took a few of my coffee-deprived friends back to Newport Coffee Company. I walked in not planning on getting another coffee but you know when customer service is so ON-POINT that they somehow draw you into purchasing another cup of coffee? Seriously, the girls that were working that day were SOEXTREMELYSWEET and when I told the cashier that I already tried their Nitro a few hours before, she asked if I wanted a sample of their Single-origin cold brew. I have never tried coffee so delicious in my life!!! I saw the gates of Heaven open before my eyes and a choir of angels were singing all around me. I was SOOO happy. The single-origin made my friend and I really giddy because it was just so damn good!!! No, seriously guys. My friend is this big dude and this coffee made him almost prance around the shop.(Dang, it sounds like we were drugged.) but no. I’m talking about the different flavor notes this Single Origin gave off along with the smoothness from the Kyoto drip. Thus, I bought a second cup. And now I’m broke. Jk. It’s reasonably priced. This review is hella long, and I’m sorry about that, but Newport Coffee Company deserves every star that Unilocal can offer. Yea, I spent this entire post raving about the Stumptown coffee that they serve but these 5 stars also accounts for their amazing customer service. The ladies that were working there that day were so engaging and fun. You can tell that they actually cared about their customers and were confident in not only their products but their service as well. Great job and I will be back!

Super friendly service and some killer coffee. I was in the area and had this place bookmarked for a while after following them on Instagram. Not realizing it was right near the pier, I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to check it out because it was pretty crazy for a Friday afternoon. Lucky for me a spot opened up, I paid my meter fee and was on my way. Parking is über crazy because of the popular businesses and restaurants that share the center, and the closer to summer, the harder it will be as it’s literally right on the beach. The coffee shop is on the small side, but I’m guessing everyone(like me) takes their brew to go so that they can soak up the nice ocean views right outside their doors. There’s plenty of places to sit and people watch in the surrounding area, or they have a few tables to hang out at if you don’t feel like leaving. Because it was warm, I wanted something refreshing and cold. I’m not an ice blended person, so I immediately focused on the cold brew options they had available. One in particular caught my eye; the Stumptown nitro brew. I asked if it was a crazy amount of caffeine, but it’s actually the process of using nitrogen to give the coffee an almost creamy texture as if someone had added cream and sugar to the mix. It was super smooth and felt like I was drinking a stout sans any sort of alcohol. To make sure it was something that I really wanted, Maria(I think was her name) let me try a small sample before committing. After one sip, I was sold. The shop offers a variety of pastries, a nice selection of gelato and even acai bowls, so even if you’re traveling with a non-coffee drinker in your pack, they should be able to find something to enjoy as well. The barista behind the counter was more than happy to answer any and all questions and it seemed like all of the locals knew her as she greeted a few by name as they entered. I wish I lived closer so I could take in this delicious drink more often!

I’ve been meaning to try this trendy coffee shop on the Peninsula for the past year. I finally spent a few hours at this shop today doing some work and sipping on my daily caffeine fix. I really love the young, clean look to this coffee shop because it is a contrast to some of the more dilapidated parts of McFadden where all the bars are. The chalkboard menu boasts pretty diverse options featuring Stumpton ranging from lattes to cold brew coffee. They also serve acai and pitaya bowls in addition to their small gelato bar. I ordered a 16 oz white mocha which was tasted really good. It was not too sweet or chocolate-y which was nice since I’m not exactly a chocoholic. My caffeine fix lasted a long time so I’m assuming they are generous with the amount of actual coffee that is actually in there. I also really loved the Newport Coffee Company logo on the coffee sleeve. The Pinterest-obsessed part of me appreciated the clean, crisp logo and all the consistent branding. The only downside of this place is that it’s pretty expensive, even for gourmet coffee. I get that it’s probably from the high pier-front rent that they’re probably paying. The small shop only has limited space but I still think I would return away to try their affogato and cold brew.

even with the beach traffic on a hot sunday we had to cause we saw Stumptown Cold Brew on tap with nitrogen. still the best cold brew ever and we always love the guinness look and feel of their brew. stumptown with nitro is one of the smoothest with low acidity so crème and sugar is not needed to tone it down. they are slowly becoming the Starbucks of Cold Brew.
