John T Chiu, MD

Dr John Chiu is an excellent Doctor. I don’t say that lightly. I have worked with many Doctors in both my career in the health field and as a Patient. I was very sick with allergies I did not know I had and some I thought I had but other tests (Dr Chiu said they were useless at least 50% of the time as I suspected) had come up negative. He found asthma I also did not know I had. I thought it was an infection in my lungs or something. He is extremely thorough and I don’t think I have had such a thorough exam with any other Dr. — That is just sad as I have seen over 15 Internists and specialists in the past year to see what the causes of my health issues were. I even traveled to Seattle to an Infectious Disease Dr and he did the wrong allergy test and did not pick up on any of the allergies or asthma. Dr Chiu found things other Drs should have but did not. Thank you Dr Chiu! If you are looking for an allergist who understands the immune system and overall health this is the Dr.
My daughter got sick recently with similar issues and I took her to Dr Chiu. She was in the ER 2 months ago for breathing, dizziness, heart rate racing, vision, head pain, and neurological type issues. Dr Chiu did the allergy testing and she is allergic to molds and other things like I am. (We live by the beach and the place is moldy to say the least). Dr Chiu put my nervous child at ease as she has never been sick before really and her anxiety was high. We are moving btw.
He is quite personable and sharp as a tack. His staff is organized, kind and easy to work with.
I also notice none of his GREAT reviews are posted on Unilocal. I wonder why? I wonder if mine will be posted? I review on Unilocal quite often but I don’t buy their advertising for my business so many of my great reviews are hidden as well. I am a real person Unilocal. I have a profile and a business page and I have friends, and I review. No reason not to post this for Dr Chiu. He is my Dr. I Saw him on Dec 2^nd and the 9^th 2014. And going back next week.

Twenty years ago Dr. Chiu successfully treated me for horrendous respiratory allergies. In fact, he was so successful I did not need meds and had not seen him in ten years when the allergies flared up accompanied by a very aggravating and persistent cough. My internist thought it was a sinus infection and recommended Sudafed and Mucinex. No relief. So I called Dr. Chiu’s office and they worked around my schedule to see me and assess things immediately (even though he had not seen me in 10 years!). After a careful work-​up, he figured out the underlying problem, along with an effective treatment plan. He focuses on the patient. You can be totally confident that he will work with you until a solution is found.

Dr. Chiu is marvelous! Not only is he compassionate and intelligent, he actually listens to his patients and responds appropriately. He is straightforward and optimistic in his approach. Our daughter has suffered with severe asthma, immune system disruptions and allergy symptoms related to mold exposure. After seeing a doctor in Los Angeles whose office staff scared our daughter, it was difficult to get her to trust another doctor’s office. Dr. Chiu’s gentle spirit and appropriate levity slowly calmed my daughter and he has earned her trust. I am grateful to Dr. Chiu and his wonderful staff for their professionalism and willingness to take the time to really work with us to find a solution to such dreadful illness. We would be lost without them. Thank you Dr. Chiu and staff for all you do for our daughter.
