One star because 0 isn’t an option… My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and we wanted to order off the happy hour menu so the hostess told us to seat ourselves on the patio. 10, 15 minutes go by and not a single waiter/waitress came outside to even acknowledge our presence… Eventually we started seeing the hostess whom told us to seat ourselves coming outside with menus seating other guests!!! So finally I got up and found whom I thought was the manager and asked for menus & without looking up she told me «someone will be out in a minute.» we sat for another 6 minutes before SHE came out and handed us one menu to share & walked away. The tables sat after us started receiving warm bread and butter, we did not. Finally our waiter showed up, had to be high out of his mind, barely spoke, gave a little too long, creepy stares at us… We asked for bread and ordered a beer. Once it was finally brought out he set it down

The food’s alright, but the burgers are great and that’s what I mainly just come here for. It’s a simple good burger that uses nice quality beef. You know the burgers are good when there’s a guy in a suit who job is to walk around and ask you how’s your burger — a fine one indeed :).

Good continental cuisine. Better to hang out at the bar than in the main dining room. Excellent for lunch. Not the best ambiance for dinner. Will definitely go back for lunch though.

Love love love Daily Grill! This is not a bias opinion. The staff is outstanding! Matt and Ana are always on point. Smiles!!! Service. Recommendations. I adore you both! The managers are beyond helpful!!! Beverly and Brian, thank you for everything you do! You’ve made every single experience for us feel like we’re «home». And there hasn’t been one item on the menu that has disappointed. My favorite guilty pleasure is the mac-n-cheese with added bacon. Oh Em Gee! Gooood! On those light days I get the Grill Special; soup and chopped salad. The Manhattan [I’ve mentioned before] is the best I’ve ever had! I’m not usually a fan of bread, but I’d recommend DG’s bread and then dip dip dip in your soup soup soup. My J. ordered the Tuscan Brick Chicken and loved it. All I got was a major whiff and it smelled amazing! S. had a chicken meatball spaghetti dish that, again, I only smelled but wow! One day I shall eat my way through DG. If ever you find yourself in the Newport Beach area shopping and hunger overwhelms you, Daily Grill will not disappoint! Its like an old school retro diner you’d find the Italian mafia in. Its clean! Its CLASSY! And the sound level is NOT overpowering. They offer indoor AND outdoor dining, a full bar, televisions and heating units. So, there you have it! Classy! Clean! Genuine smiles! Great service! Excellent food! #DOIT!

What a great place! I was shopping when the need for food hit so we followed the signs towards restaurants. A quick scan of the menu out front and I found low calorie menu items. Score! Inside, the décor is cute if not a bit retro. I had the fish tacos and they were awesome! I mean tacos that are super yummy and relatively low in calories? Sold. I’m an instant fan. The fish was yummy and of good quality. Our server was pretty attentive, too, and very nice. I have nothing but compliments for this place. I’m going to have to try this again and see if the rest of their menu stacks up.

Went here today for a birthday lunch with family. I have to say I felt they were a little slow but then again we kept them waiting due to someone’s desire to finish off her drink before placing an order. But besides that and the fact I was starving they were pretty darned patient. Even still I felt it was a little slow. I had the chicken meatballs and angel hair pasta from the healthy portion of the menu. The pasta was pretty good but the meatballs were tasteless. Maybe that’s what I get for ordering healthy. The burgers were apparently fine and the fruit that I snagged off the other plates was fresh and tasty. All in all everyone kind of agreed that it was just okay in terms of food. The kind of weird thing was our first waitress introduced us to a second waitress and said she was being sent home but then she never left and was pretty obvious about it. I thought we must have worn her down but come on! We weren’t that bad! The prices aren’t bad, although I can say that cause I wasn’t paying. Good spot to people watch too.

Ok first off let me start by saying I have only had a beer and the spinach dip. But I am a fan because of the happy hour! For where you are in fashion island, being able to sit at a nice bar a take break the price cant be beat! Monday-Friday happy hour is 4 to 7 i think. All day Saturday and Sunday! That is great! I saw the chicken pot pie for $ 5.00 bucks! That price for that size pie is calling my name… Im going back just for that and i’ll let you know about it when I do!

Two words: HORRIBLESERVICE. My girlfriend and I went here two weeks ago for lunch. First off, we had to sit for 20 minutes until our order was taken. I had to stand up and try to find our waitress totake our order, which was extremely sad. By the way, not busy at ALL! So We ordered two appetizers(during happy hour) and a full plate. Our plate came out first, then after 10 minutes one appetizer came out. We were already pissed, this made us even more angry. Then after waiting a few minutes I stood up again to try to find the waitress in order to find out where our second appetizer was. Apparently she had no idea that we ordered two… Anyways this place had good food but just completely horrible service. I would avoid this place if I were you.

Driving back from a dog show in LA, my friend and I decided to stop at Fashion Island and have a bite to eat. Honestly we chose a restaurant on the outskirts of the mall because we didn’t want to stay there for very long. The Daily Grill looked inviting and they are dog friendly. So we asked to be seated. The host was amazing, dressed to kill with an inviting attitude to match. I said, OK, this place is going to be awesome. WRONG I think they could only afford a great host and then forgot to train our server. She was horrible. She was very distracted and too familiar in her language. We placed our order for drinks and an appetizer she suggested, then she took our menus. LOLOL I looked at my friend and said, I hope you remember what you want to order. When she came back with our Ahi appetizer, she asked us what we wanted for our main entrée. I kept waiting to see if she noticed our lack of menus. NOPE. Luckily we knew what we wanted and just went ahead and ordered. Since it was a Sunday we took advantage of their brunch menu and ordered two different types of Eggs Benedict. Our Ahi appetizer was very good. The Ahi was perfectly cut and seared. It was served with freshly pickled cucumber slices, fried spinach, pickled ginger and wasabi. This is pricey, but worth ordering again. Our Benedict’s had a prequel of a pecan cinnamon bun. OMG this is delicious, but it is so large if you eat it you will not be able to eat your breakfast. We asked that she package it immediately to go home and move on to our entrée. The plates came and immediately I knew we were in trouble. They are served on normal dinner sized plates and half of my plate was empty. My English muffin was small, the Canadian bacon could pass for carpaccio it was THAT thin and the eggs were not even medium sized. I needed a magnifying glass to find the hollandaise sauce. My saving grace was that I made sure to tell the server that I wanted my eggs poached soft and they were. My friend was not that lucky, hers were as hard as you can get them with poaching. I ALWAYS choose Benedict when it’s on the menu, I can tell you I will not be making that mistake at this place again. This was one of the worst and most expensive Benedict’s I have ever ordered. I forgot there were potatoes on the plate too, they were over cooked and tasteless. Honestly, I won’t be rushing back to the Daily Grill, there are so many other options in the area. Granted they are chains but at least I know what I’m getting and for less money.

Their ahi tuna salad is so damn good. But it’s $ 17.95. Is it that good? No. No it is not. $ 17.95 for a salad is ridiculous. And it’s not SUPER huge or anything. They have decent happy hour deals that go until 7 that include apps for $ 3.95 and $ 4.95. There’s always a place to sit. Their tomato soup was boring and watery. I’d come back but preferably if you are buying.

I really hate to write bad reviews, ’cause it’s depressing and means wasted money and time. My family and I have been coming here since it opened. We would get the occasional off service or food, but overall it was good, close to home and has a menu with something to please pretty much everyone. I loved a few favorites– the Cobb Club Sandwich, the Chicken Pie and a great marinated skirt steak. All of them were just wonderful. Last week, I needed to meet a friend for lunch 3 times, and since she works across the street from FI, we hit the Daily Grill first. Food was just pitiful. I ordered my once glorious Cobb Club(basically a Cobb salad on bread) and it honestly seemed like scraps from someone’s frig. Besides the dried out chicken, there were 2 slivers-total– of avocado. My friend had the Chicken Pie, and it was so overpowered by some seasoning(s) that it was inedible. Did we complain? No, because if you don’t even want to go back if the food was free, there’s really no point. There are too many spots around Fashion Island now with consistently good food to take another chance here.

Place has gone down hill fast. Waitstaff and management is awful. Been going here for almost 20 years. Never again. Avoid !

Came here with bf to browse around Fashion Island. We were surprised to learn that Bloomingdale only opens until 8pm and everything else outside of it until 9pm on weeknights. We only walk around and had dinner at Daily Grill. The ahi tuna was pretty decent and has some Asian flare to it. We liked that it has black and white sesame seeds all over it. Pretty good. Manhattan chowder was a little salty but not too bad. My dinner was chicken marsala while my bf has the ribeye special. Both were pretty decent but I especially like their fresh juice lemonade! I had two glasses! Perfect balanced of sour and sweetness! Service was very good and very tentative hence one more stars!

Find outdoor spot that serves wine and appetizers so I can catch up with a friend who is in the area. Hey, there’s Daily Grill. That looks good! And there is the outside spot with a cozy looking couch. Great, this should be fun… NOT. After going inside to let the host know we want to snag the cool spot outside with the couch, we take a seat. The table hadn’t been cleaned yet, but that was okay. We thought the table must have just become available and we were happy we nabbed it. This spot right on the corner of the patio was perfect to get a sliver of sun and people watch. We hit the jack pot. After almost 10 minutes of chit chatting and staring at the dirty table and my empty hand without a wine glass in it, I go inside to order from the bar. Finally a server comes over, takes our order for some apps. We didn’t wait long for the food, but she left us with no napkins and«hello» I could use another glass of wine… long day. We had hummus and pita with some sorry tasting cucumbers that we didn’t eat and a tuna roll thingie… not good enough to even remember the name. After asking for the check and waiting forever for the server to come back… a man in a suit comes over to ask about my experience. I was honest and provided specifics in about three sentences. Turns out he was the manager. He wanted to take care of the check. I thought it was only fair that I pay since I did drink a glass of wine and ate the hummus. He insisted and asked me to come back. I think I will come back if I’m in the area. Now I’m curious to see if this was an isolated bad experience or if I’ll be writing again on how much the service sucks.

I came here for lunch with my girlfriend and we decided to order off their lunch specials menu. They have a variety of different salads and sandwich. Since it was our ditch day from work we also decide to have some cocktails. We shared the club sandwich and the grilled skirt steak salad. Both were lacking. The bread on the club was too toasted that it made it a little tough to bite into. And when I was able to successfully bite into it, a lot of the sandwich fell out. It was a pretty messy club. Although I liked the salad, fresh romaine, frazzled onions, and roma tomatoes, the skirt steak in the salad was overly charred. It seemed like the grilled that it was cooked on needed to be cleaned. Sometimes I don’t mind charred but this was border line burnt. I gobbled up all the food regardless. I just paid $ 18 for a salad, no way was I going to not finish it. The Daily Grill left me wanting more… However, although their food was a little unsatisfactory, they do have a lot of fun cocktails that made up for. We tried out 4 different ones. The Pear Martini was by far my favorite. Strong, sweet and perfect. I also loved their Black and Blue Mojito. It was perfectly minty and berry-y. For the price you pay, I don’t think it’s worth it. Next time I’ll come for the cocktails and skip the meal.

Chains are never my first pick but when I’m not paying the bill — I’m not complaining. The décor was warm and inviting with many large accommodating booths. We were served in their private room which was ample for our group of around 50. I ordered the«Broiled Shrimp Pomodoro with Angel Hair Pasta — Grilled Gulf Shrimp, Topped with Chopped Fresh Tomato, Garlic, Basil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil». It was okay, fairly pedestrian overall, certainly not even close to being cravable for me. The 21⁄25 count size shrimp were cooked nicely and were still firm and crisp. But I found it curious that the Daily Grill, tries to entice you with«broiled» shrimp, yet the description says«grilled.» Don’t they know the terms aren’t interchangeable or are they just directionally challenged?! Overall the place is comfortable and relaxing, with a good sized bar. Not a destination restaurant, but a comfortable spot if you need to take a breather from shopping.

I reviewed the one by LAX. I thought I had a better experience here, although it still wasn’t deserving of a fourth star. The bartenders were nice and talkative, as were many of the clientele. The wine and beer selections were reasonably large. However, this place was a bit too upscale to be located in a mall. I just never could get used to nicer establishments inside of malls. The food here was pretty good. I had a quesadilla. I wasn’t too large, but it tasted fine.

Came in last nite for a small bite. Lentil soup was SO good. I mean, like the best! AND… we got that super sweet server again. Woman, in her 30’s, short brown/red hair. SO sweet and attentive.

«Not real fancy, just real good». Does anyone else remember that slogan? I think it was from Denny’s in the early nineties. Well maybe«real» good is a bit of an overstatement but that’s how I would describe the Daily Grill. The food here is pretty solid and when I say«solid» I mean basic and good without getting way fancy. The in-laws had chicken pot pie and egg’s Benny and the hubby had a burger. Everyone agreed the food was pretty decent. In my opinion, the chicken pot pie was kind of vanilla but to each his own. I ordered and then devoured the Manhattan Clam Chowder, not because I love the«red kind of chowder» but because I wanted soup and the idea of Minestrone(the only other choice) makes me somewhat ill. I was pleasantly surprised how good the chowder was and may need to rethink my «red» prejudices. Anyway, Daily Grill Fashion Island has a nice little patio(but not tons of sun), the service was decent and everyone loved the complimentary breakfast muffins(cinnamon — goodness). We had some great people watching from where we were seated. Just when you think you’ve seen it all… My criteria for restaurant choices while the in-laws were in town were based upon the fact that these aren’t fancy people. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t exactly backwoods either. Just good Canadian people who are more accustomed to White-Spot(sorry, you have to be Canadian to know what this place is) kind of dining rather than the Charlie Palmer crowd. I wanted them to be able to order food they could pronounce or at least recognize and enjoy at a price that they wouldn’t balk at. With that in mind the Daily Grill was a perfect choice.

Hard to choose where to eat at while browsing the shops at Fashion Island. Ended up choosing this place and got a nice table on the patio. Our server was really cool, she was attentive, funny and just super nice. Hubby and I ordered a small bowl of gazpacho($ 4.95 or $ 3.95 with an entrée) to start, he got the Thursday special of grilled cheese with tomato soup($ 11.95) and I got the lime chicken salad($ 14.95). We also got 2 iced teas($ 2.95 each). The sourdough bread, though crusty was cold and the whole thing just crumbled miserably all over the place. Gazpacho was not bad, but needed a touch of garlic to give it some depth. Still, not bad for a chain. Hubby’s tomato soup was good. It didn’t have a strong creamy taste which appealed to both hubby and me. The grilled cheese consisted of 4 small half triangles with cheddar and some other white cheese. I like how it wasn’t just cheddar. However, it was weird that they cut the crusts off of the sandwich. We commented how little kids would like it. It tasted pretty alright and was perfectly toasted. The tomato soup could’ve been much hotter in temperature when they served it as it was just a tad more than lukewarm. I find that pretty yucky when it comes to soups not served piping hot. My lime chicken salad was pretty awesome. Nice flavors and textures. You can really taste the olive oil in it and what was best was that they didn’t over-dress the salad. I hate it when there is too much dressing on the salad. They also didn’t put onions into it, but instead, left a sprig of green onion intact as a garnish, but also, if you like, you could incorporate that into your salad itself — which I did. Service was good, food was mediocre, nothing to shout about.
