LOVE this place. Nothing fussy, just good service, delicious food, and amazing Vietnamese coffee. A new favorite for sure.

Good little spot for a quick bite to eat. Can make tofu whatever including phở, spring rolls, sandwiches and entrée dishes. Tofu could use a little more flavor but still good. Service was awesome, water was filtered unlike some Asian spots, bathroom and facility were clean.

Came here for lunch, ordered chicken phở, lemongrass chicken Bánh mì sandwich, and a combination sandwich. It’s a small quaint place and the reason why we came is because it was recommended by the Orange Coast Magazine so we wanted to check it out. The food was ok, portion was generous, price was decent but it honestly lacked flavor. I was expecting the lemongrass chicken to taste well, like lemongrass, or have some sort of kick but it was a bit too plain. The bread roll for both sandwiches tasted like it was bought at Albertsons or Stater Bros. The food just tasted plain and Americanized. I think I might be too spoiled when it comes to Vietnamese food since I live kind of close from Garden Grove, Westminster, and Fullerton where there are a ton of Vietnamese Cafes and Restaurants with a lot o flavor. If you are in the area though I would definitely try their pastries and their coffee.

Very pleasant atmosphere. Clean, simple, but yummy food and very reasonably priced. A nice place to go for lunch after whale watching! Recommend the pork spring rolls and lemongrass chicken.

Stopped in on a whim while we were out walking. I hadn’t had my coffee yet so I tried a latte. It was perfect. On top of that, they were very accommodating of my mother-in-law’s requests. She liked them so much she sent us back later for several of their menu items. Parking lot is nearby.

The Good, The staff is friendly and the place in clean and cheery inside. The pastries that I’ve tried were ok. The Bad, the sandwiches, the smoothies and the Phở are all terrible. The chicken Phở was obviously made by someone who has absolutely no idea how to make it. Phở is supposed to be flavorful and simmer for several hours to bring out delicate aromas flavors of the spices. The broth they serve at Chez Vu tastes like someone put some pepper in luke warm water and brought it out to me 2 minutes later. I paid ten dollars for a regular Phở and I ended up eating one bite and tossing it in the garbage. My smoothie was flavorless and full of giant chunks of ice. This is not the first time I’ve had terrible food at Chez Vu. The«Vietnamese» chicken sandwich is quite possibly the worst Vietnamese sandwich I’ve eaten on the west coast, ever. The chicken was slimy and tasted like it had been frozen, burned on a grill, frozen, and then microwaved before it ever hit my sandwich. The vegetables were terrible and the mayo was greasy and spoiled. Again, I took one bite and tossed it in the garbage. I won’t be back to Chez Vu for a third round. If you’re looking for oriental food on the Peninsula, go hit Mint Leaf a few doors down instead. You will thank me later.
