3 years ago I had some really major back problems and this place was recommended by a co worker. I had a great experience with them and after doing some sessions with them my back felt a lot better.
Fast forward 3 years and my pain came back. Going to a regular doctor only nets me pain medication which I’m not a big fan of, so I decided to go back to back to basics. So far the treatment they put me on has really helped me deal with the pain while on my road to recovery.
One thing I really like about this place is how they treat you. All patients are treated on a personal level and this place is not like most places where doctors are just rushing people through their appointment like they are cattle.

Let me say upfront, I am a Back To Basics fan! If you are looking for a complete wellness practice, this is the place to find it. The staff is first class, starting with Nicole who answers the phone, books your appointment and makes you comfortable. Dr. Ryan and Dr. Tom are a perfect Team, bringing complimentary chiropractic styles to the practice.
They have earned my trust by doing something that has been lost in the medical field, listening. They take the time to listen with great patience then act to treat your symptoms. This a «family» practice that truly cares about their patients.
They recently moved to this location and it is a terrific office. Friendly, pleasant décor with plenty of treatment and massage rooms with the addition of a yoga room. And amble parking is available too.
Lastly, to give you perspective I recently moved from Huntington Beach to San Diego July 1^st.
I still drive to Newport Beach to see my Team.

I love the new location! I was relieved to know the same team is at the new location… I recently woke with a stiff neck and was able to get right in for a massage with Star, and an adjustment with Dr. Ryan. It was actually faster to get to the new office since it is right off 73 freeway. Thanks Back to Basics!

These guys are the greatest. I had a back injury that was lingering for a really long time, and I had seen two different chiropractors down in San Diego to try to get help, but nothing worked. I went to see Dr. Ryan and he was much more interested in getting to the heart of the problem than any other chiropractor I had seen. He really listened to what I was saying, took my problem seriously, and was committed to finding a solution. The staff was great and the office is a pleasant and professional environment. Dr. Ryan’s treatment along with therapeutic massages made a huge difference, and I was able to go back to my normal workouts, which I had been unable to do for over a year. I will drive up from San Diego for my chiropractic care from now on, and I highly recommend Back to Basics to anyone looking for a new chiropractor. I just wish I could go more often. I also saw their acupuncturist and herbalist Dr. Jay Chung. He treats all kinds of issues ranging from physical ailments to psychological and spiritual, and he is incredible. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I love Back to Basics both Dr. Ryan and Dr. Tom are fantastic. They are very through in their evaluations and recommend only the treatment necessary to get you better. So many chiropractors want to treat their patients every day for weeks on end and I have never had that experience at B2B. Star and Phil are very good massage therapist, you can’t go wrong seeing either one of them and Nicole is always delightful to speak with, she will get you an appointment right away.

Back to Basics has been my trusted chiropractor for as long as I have lived in Orange County! They are extremely knowledgable, professional, and friendly. I had significant neck and shoulders pain when I started treatment and now I am pain free. I look forward to going in for routine adjustments and always walk out feeling fantastic. I would recommend Back to Basics to anyone who is looking for a trusted chiropractor. They work wonders and I am extremely thankful!

Mere words can’t express the gratitude I feel for Back To Basics’ massage therapist Phil Rojas! He is BEYOND gifted at massage. He can masterfully take my complicatedly messed up back (pre and post 2 neurosurguries at Cedars) and somehow work through the various elements of pain, and make me human again. I can never thank him enough! This man deserves a raise, not only because he deserves as much money as possible, but I never want anyone to steal him away and force him to move away to another clinic. You’re my hero, Phil!!! I don’t know how I’d even be able to walk without you!

Excellent new office, love the location. Dr. Tom is the Best, makes me feel at ease and has great knowledge. I was injured in a car accident that totaled my car and I was in bad shape but with Dr. Toms help I am making a speedy recovery.

Dr. Ryan Samulian is very friendly and professional.
He has helped my shoulder a great deal through exercises and adjustments! I would recommend him to anyone who needs chiropractic services.

The friendly, talented team at Back to Basics recently moved to Birch Street from Westcliff Drive. I stand by my review of their old location (text copied below), but have an additional two years of positive experience with Dr. Ryan, Dr. Tom, Star, Nicole, and company. They really are outstanding people who take the time to provide the best possible treatment. I’ve referred several people there over the years who have all had fantastic experiences. The new location has more space for treatment and plenty of parking.

I really only take the time to write reviews for the few services that make real a difference for me. Back to Basics easily makes — if not tops — that list. Dr. Ryan has been taking care of me for a few years now and I continue to be very happy with his excellent work, his positive attitude, and the wealth of information he brings to each treatment. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. The massage therapists are first rate. Star has come to the rescue for my wife and I several times! My wife raves about Dr. Tom. He’s helped her through two pregnancies and the stresses of caring for kids while running a business. In short, Back to Basics is a fantastic team of people who really care about their patients and do an amazing job of working out life’s ailments.
