ACME Hairdressing

I’ve been going to Acme for about 3 years an I love it! I go to Katie to keep up my crazy bob and she does a fantastic job every single time. I’m very particular and I come up with new ideas every time and she patiently listens to what I want and always delivers.

I’ve been coming here for so long and I wouldn’t dare go anywhere else. I come to see Katie, she really knows what she’s doing, it’s almost like I get a mini consult with every visit, which is awesome! I have Betty bangs that need frequent trimming and she just has the magic touch. Perfectly straight every time. NOT an easy task. Plus she is super personable! Awkward silence? What’s that?
I recently introduced my sister and now she refuses to see anyone else either. In fact, she just had her hair and makeup done for prom and she looked gorgeous.

This place is horrible. They trick assistants into thinking they have a future here. The owner treats the staff awful! I hope no one goes here!

Cerise is amazing!!!
Went in after a bad home dye job went terribly wrong. Cerise turned my yellow, green, gold and grry hair into a masterpiece. I don’t know what I would’ve done without the patience and experience that I received from Cerise and the salon

This is the only place I trust to get my hair and nails done! The staff is very professional and quick to make sure you are comfortable. I highly recommend seeing Davey for all your cutting, styling, and coloring needs. Nancy always does an amazing job on my nails. She is very gentile and does a flawless job. Not to mention she is a very sweet person. All around great experience every time I go there. The facility is very clean and welcoming. I find it unnecessary to go anywhere else!

Melissa, the owner, has been cutting my hair for nearly 28 years. I drive 112 miles to her place of business and she has always met and exceeded my lofty expectations.

I go here to see Nancy the nail lady, she does a fantastic job on both hands and feet! The colors, lengths, and sizes are uniform and flawless. She’s very easy going and we always have good conversations. She has great prices too! Love seeing her every time!

Kellai is the absolute BEST hairdresser anyone could ever hope for! She’s amazing! She’s extremely detail oriented and does color/​cuts I have ever experienced! She will give you the exact look you want no matter how difficult you are! I have been one of her most difficult costumes by far and she’s went along with it everytime and made my hair look and feel better than I ever imagined! Go to Kellai for all your hair needs!

The good stylists, Debbie and Shannon left the salon due to issues with the salon’s management. I definitely would not visit Acme now that Shannon & Debbie have left.

I am updating my review because Shannon has left Acme, so I do not need to return. I went to Acme for the stylist not the salon.

I love love love Katie! Been searching for someone to get my hair right for years & I’m so glad a friend recommended her. She’s really sweet and easy to talk to. I tell her what i want and she does it and makes it even better than I thought it would! She is just so wonderful! Prices are super reasonable too. Life is so much easier when you have a permanent and amazing hairstylist :)

I always see Katie when I come here. Prior to her, no one could just ever get it right. I told her what I wanted and she did exactly what I tried to articulate. Four years later, and I haven’t seen anyone else since. So glad. I don’t know what I would do without her. She is great with long hair, short hair and bangs. She’s pulled off all types of looks on me.
Prices are reasonable. The place is in an unassuming area of office spaces in Newport Beach, next to John Wayne Airport.

I love Acme! Shannon has been cutting and coloring my hair for more years than I care to make public — I would never go anywhere else.
The salon is beautiful and everyone here is super nice. Prices are more reasonable than other salons in the area.
They are full service, and also do great special occasion hair, we went here before my wedding.

I can’t believe nobody’s Unilocaled Acme yet! I’ve been getting my hair done here for several years and I always leave feeling gorgeous.
Melissa Stripling, who owns the salon, always does my hair. Acme is a cool little salon tucked away in a small industrial complex just a couple minutes from John Wayne Airport. (Previously, the salon was located on Irvine Avenue in Costa Mesa.)
In addition to cuts, color and all that stuff, they also offer skin care services. Not sure what all that encompasses since I’ve only had my hair done here, so I’d suggest calling for details. They also sell the usual range of hair products and even have some really cute clothing, jewelry, hair accessories and other stuff. I recommend leaving time to browse before or after your appointment.
I go to Melissa for regular haircuts, plus color and highlights too, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Melissa and her staff also do hair for weddings. Since I was planning my own wedding this year, I went to Melissa for a consultation or two in the months leading up to the big day. We had a lot of fun playing around with different looks and decided on a style I really loved.
The morning of the wedding, Melissa came to the hotel where I was staying to do my hair, along with the hair of four other members of the wedding party. She even fit in a quick style for my short-​haired maid of honor, who originally wasn’t planning to have hers done. Everyone was happy with how their hair turned out, especially me! My makeup artist was impressed with Melissa’s work too. In fact, the two of them even exchanged cards so they could team up in the future.
Of course, you can choose to have your bridal party styled on-​site at the salon, but they’ll also come to your location for a small travel fee, which I highly recommend. If you get married on a Sunday like I did though, the travel fee applies either way since they’re closed on Sundays.
