Our experience was similar to that of other reviewers: Friday night, empty restaurant, attentive service, and good food. There was a decent selection of Mexican beers and some domestic. Eladia’s does not have a full bar license, so there were no margaritas. When second beers were ordered, they came with fresh frosted glasses. Chips were commercially produced, but good. Salsa was picante, and the server kept us supplied with ample supplies of both while we waited for our entrees. We had talapia char-grilled with plenty of lemon, which came with some rice and a salad with tomato and avocado slices and a chicken in mole, which came with refried beans and rice. Prices were a bit higher than at the standard taco and burrito joint, but when the food came out, those prices were more than justified by both quality and quantity. There were two substantial tilapia filets, with a real taste of char and lemon and four drumsticks swimming in a rich mole. The rice was not distinctive, but the refried beans, which I usually doctor with salsa, had a nice zest all on their own. Either entrée could have been shared by two pretty hungry people. Look for the Shoe Mart sign at the roadside to know where to turn in to this nondescript strip mall.

My husband and I went here one Friday night, hoping to have found a great Mexican place near our home! We were the only people in the restaurant on a Friday night, which seemed odd to us and made us wonder how long this place would be in business. But, because we were the only ones, the wait staff was super attentive to us. We arrived, got 2 cold beers poured in frosted mugs, and immediately started munching on chips and salsa. The chips were great but the salsa had too much of a tomato paste taste to it! I asked for some hot sauce and they brought out a light orange paste that left much to be desired. For our entrée, my husband ordered the fish taco and carne asada taco and I ordered the chorizo and potato enchiladas. I was excited about my entrée because you can’t really go wrong with chorizo but unfortunately it wasn’t what I expected. The dish was 3 fried tortillas topped with a little bit of chorizo and potatoes and then covered in iceberg lettuce and sour cream and queso fresco. The chorizo and potato filling was great but was overpowered by everything else. My husband loved his carne asada taco but didn’t really enjoy the fish taco. All in all, this definitely isn’t the best Mexican food I’ve had and wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for. We would probably come back just for a cold beer and a carne asada taco next time!

I went here for the first time tonight when my other«go-to» Mexican restaurants were packed. I was excited to try something new, and the place was small and quaint so I figured the food would be good, and the staff would be personal. First of all, just be warned this is a Mexican restaurant without margaritas. And they do not have a draft — they have a pretty good beer selection, but it only comes in bottles. So if you want your typical Mexican restaurant bar, this is not the place for you. It may have just been the day, but they only had one waitress on a Friday night. The restaurant was pretty packed, but this one worker acted as hostess, waitress, cashier, and everything in between. So the service was very, very slow and not very good. It took my boyfriend and I about an hour and a half from being seated to paying our bill. It took about 45 minutes to get our meal. When we finally got our food, it was cold. Which is really a shame because the food was actually delicious and well prepared. But cold enchiladas and fajitas are pretty disgusting. Anyway, it wouldn’t have been a terrible experience if they had had the appropriate staff. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be returning. I’ve never had slower service or cold Mexican food like that before.

Hubby and I went for the first time on a Tuesday around 8PM. The restaurant was quiet with only one other table filled. We were greeted and seated right away and served amazing, freshly-made salsa. Hands-down the best salsa I’ve ever had at a restaurant. And I’ve had a lot. ;) After perusing the menu, we both commented that this place seemed very authentic. The menu was not the usual cookie cutter list of dishes. We found ourselves googling the names of dishes and asking our server questions. He was gracious in explaining all the different options and made several great recommendations. Our food arrived piping hot after a brief wait time. It looked beautiful, smelled amazing, and tasted delicious. I had beef and chicken enchiladas. The beef was shredded, as opposed to the typical beef that is ground to bits. The chicken was also shredded and very flavorful. Hubby had two tacos and a gordita. He had a variety of meats… All prepared and cooked perfectly. We will definitely return! Might just be our new favorite date-night spot.

Very good food. We tried a variety of their tacos. Fish, shrimp, steak and pork. All were excellent. Tortillas were hand made. Will be back. This is the best Mexican in Newnan.

Unbelievably good. Too bad the Cuban place here didn’t work out but this place is wonderful. We had a variety of things at our table — enchiladas potocinas, shrimp quesadillas, beef tacos, chicken enchiladas and Castillo de Puerco. All of it was out of this world. Really the only downside is the server seems overtaxed but she was very pleasant and made us feel at home. If you were familiar with the Cuban place, the layout here is a much better use of the space and feels a lot bigger inside.

Pro’s: Easy Location, No Wait for Seat, Attentive Service Con’s: No Free Water, No Soda Refills since they use bottles, No Chips and Salsa at all, Hard to understand Menu for non-Spanish speaker, Awkwardly quiet My wife and tried the new Mexican place in town tonight: Eladia’s Authentic Mexican Cosina. We love our Mexican food and Newnan has no shortage of Mexican restaurants. We love trying new places, too! We ordered two waters(expecting them to be free, as they are at most restaurants). Two bottles of water were brought to our table(On the bill later as $ 1.00 each) and two bowls of soup. The soup had a tomato mixed with chicken noodle broth taste to it with macaroni noodles in it. It was interesting and not what I expected. I was hoping for a basket of chips and salsa like every other Mexican restaurant in the world but instead we had soup. I did not see Chips and Salsa anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. We looked through the menu and weren’t sure what we’d get. Many things on the menu were difficult to interpret. Under«Tacos» I was given the choice of «Azada, Pastor, Lengua, Barbacoa, Tripa or Buche(with Camaron or Pescado being 2.95).» Call me ignorant or uncultured but I don’t know what any of those mean except maybe Barbacoa. I ordered the«Enchiladas» under the«Specialties» section for $ 7.25. My wife ordered the«Enchiladas Potosinas» for $ 7.99. I normally drink a lot of water with my meals but I nursed my bottle of water knowing that I was probably going to be paying for each bottle, and we did. They offered sodas but all were in bottles and there are no free refills, of course. They had a salad/salsa bar in the back of the restaurant but I didn’t have any. The«salad» bar appeared to mostly be topping for the meals but I couldn’t honestly tell you what most of the things were and nothing was labeled. I wasn’t feeling gutsy enough to experiment, either. The restaurant was well decorated but the atmosphere was awkward. There wasn’t a single note of music and while there was a big screen TV on the wall, it was off. You could hear a pin drop in that place and I think everyone was so surprised by their bottles of water and unique soups that they were too confused to talk. About 20 minutes later we received our entrees. My wife’s meal came out first and mine about 2 – 3 minutes later. My wife wasn’t sure what to expect and said her meal was adequate. It was three fried tortillas(nothing like the enchiladas we know) with potatoes, lettuce, sour cream and tomatoes on top of each. She had such a hard time getting the fried tortillas to break with her fork that she ended up just eating the stuff on top of them. My meal was well presented but slightly disappointing. My enchiladas were very tiny. I thought they were taquitos based on the size. The red sauce on top was obviously homemade but it didn’t taste like any red sauce I’ve ever had before. I wasn’t particularly fond of the taste. The meal also came with rice but the rice had nearly no flavor. I can’t say I ever tasted the shredded beef that was in my enchiladas either. The red sauce overpowered everything else. After what seemed like a few bites, my plate was empty and I did not feel full. Oh well, at least I didn’t have to worry about portion control this night. Our bill came to almost $ 20 for two with tax and I didn’t feel like it was worth it. I don’t know. Maybe I’ve been jaded by «Americanized-Mexican» food but Eladia’s didn’t do it for me. I don’t think we’ll be back.
