Newman’s Auto Repair & Mufflers

This place is the classic «looks can be deceiving/don’t judge a book by its cover» type auto repair shop. Sure, both the outside and inside of the business look dirty, dingy, dumpy, greasy, grimy and so on. With all that said… yes it still deserves 5 stars, and here’s the reason: the service. I needed a timing belt replaced, and on my particular model of car, this means a partial engine removal. My wife took the car to the cleaner, more organized repair shop on the other side of town and received a quote of $ 712, primarily due to how labor intensive the job is. She then took the car to Newman’s Auto Repair & Mufflers and received a quote of… drum roll please…$ 318. As reluctant as I was at the too good to be true price, she had them proceed to do the work. It took them 4 days to complete the work, due to the fact that I’m not their only customer, but with the substantial price difference between the 2 shops, I was more than willing to be patient. When I went to pick up my car, I was preparing to hear an increase in the price beyond what was quoted, however, $ 318 quoted, $ 318 paid. Pedro and his crew did a FANTASTIC job. My car runs great, and I could not be happier.
