If you like Argentinian food thus place does it well. It’s not your typical pizza, it is Argentinian which is light airy with a thicker crust. They use fresh ingredients. We never ordered anything else but their pizza so I cannot comment any further. The people were nice and the wait time was short.

Food and service were great! The empanadas were delicious, crispy and warm. The atmosphere is calm, quiet and extremely clean. I cannot wait to return. The steak was cooked perfectly. A great addition to Newington.

Gross pizza! Seriously no flavor. Tastes like the box and it wasn’t cheap! Even the kids won’t eat it!

Stopped here for a quick lunch the other day. I got 3 different empanadas to try, beef, corn and ham/cheese. Also got a ham and cheese miga. The empanadas were excellent, especially the beef. I’ve had some bad empanadas before that were dry and boring. These were soft and filled with goodness. The miga was also really good. Reminded me of being a kid again with no crust. I wish they had more options for migas that didn’t require 1 day notice. Doesn’t seem that hard to make a ham and roasted red pepper miga on the fly. All in all a good place to checkout if you are in Newington near Fenn Rd.

When I attended Central, there was a different dumpy pizza place where Tango Pizza now lies. Tango Pizza still has the outer look of a small, mom and pop shop in a little shopping plaza. However everything about its traditional look is just a look. Tango Pizza is very Argentine. It’s unique in the foods all being more South American than Spanish or Italian. That said, the pizza isn’t phenomenal but it is good. It’s different in the fact that the cheese is a bit unique and it’s not greasy(which is nice). The empanadas are super light, also not greasy. And I did not have dessert, but the options sound great. If you feel like something different, something for under $ 15 – 20, or just want good empanadas and flan, try Tango Pizza. The service is great, food good, and unique options.

My husband, teens and I stopped in one night, the empanadas we’re out of this world!!! The pizza was amazing. The place was so clean that I was shocked that they hadn’t just opened. The restroom was like out better homes and gardens! I couldn’t believe the luck of finding this place! And the staff were like visiting old friends, we will definitely go back again!

A few of my friends are from Argentina and they told me about this place. The food was amazing I had the beef and corn empanadas for appetizers and they perfectly fried and delicious. For my entrée I had the slept steak cooked medium, the meat was to die for super yummy. It came with a house salad with was a perfect compliment to the steak. For dessert we had Flan was was house made, hands down one of the best flans I have had in Hartford. overall this place is pretty awesome. The reason for the 4 stars is for two things. One was the food wait time was long, took almost an hour to get our food. The second is name I wish they named this place tango Argentinean grill instead of tango pizza. My niece had a small cheese pizza and it was good but nothing out the ordinary. I feel like they would be busier if people didn’t associate them with a pizza spot.

Great place, amazing food. The skirt steak is cooked perfectly and all of their home made desserts are delicious. The food did take a little long to come out and that’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Definitely a hidden gem that needs to be discovered!

As basically all of the Argentine pizzerias have disappeared in NYC and I am a 15 hour plane ride from my beloved Palacio de la Pizza in Buenos Aires, needless to say I had to check this place out. This is a great family style pizzeria and definitely worth it to stop by if you are in the area. The pizza, entraña and flan were all very good and the owners/staff are very welcoming and nice. I will definitely be back when I am in the area again. Gracias, Gustavo!

I really hate giving this place such a low rating as their service is good. I have only eaten the pizza here which I found a disappointment. The dough is hard, similar to frozen pizza and the sauce was under seasoned. Although, the atmosphere was pleasant and service was good, the food would keep me from returning.

The service was good, the wine was reasonably priced, the empanadas were delicious, but it’s called Tango Pizza, and I never plan on having another pizza here again. It’s different if you want to try something new, but I prefer thin crust so this veggie pizza was not for me. I believe in supporting my local business, so maybe I’ll go back for wine and a variety of empanadas, since I did enjoy the chicken ones.

I can’t figure how this restaurant rates more than one star. New and clean with very pleasant waiter, but that’s it. White wine was warm, food very uninteresting, menus unimaginative. Vietnam restaurant 2 doors away was crowded, Tango was pretty empty on a Friday. We won’t be back

Love love LOVE the empanadas!!! Eat here lots and so far everything I have gotten has been awesome! My favorite dish I’ve had so far is definitely the beef empanadas. I have eaten all the empanadas Tango has to offer as well, the ham and chicken would be my second favorite and the corn being my third favorite. I have tried them both baked and fried. Fried of course is epic and AMAZING. But when I’m trying to eat«healthy» I get them baked. And they’re equally as yummy! The pizza is great as well. Not oily and messy like most others I’ve tried. The cheese is perfect doesn’t fall off the slice as you pick it up to eat. The Tango and Blanca pizzas are absolutely delicious! I’ve also tried the Miga and Panini sandwiches. Perfect. I’ve had panini’s in the past that have been too tough, the Ciabatta bread I mean. The chicken or whichever I choose is grilled to perfection! I’ve gotten the flan just about everytime I have eaten here and 2 thumbs up for that! More if I had more thumbs to give! It’s the perfect consistency. It’s not grainy and doesn’t have a layer of «skin» from the caramel as I like to describe it that most places flan has. It’s smooth and sweet but not too sweet and melts in your mouth. I could keep raving about this place but I’ll end it here!!! Keep it up!!! :)

Pizza and empanadas. Pizza and empanadas. I bookmarked this place some time ago and finally made some time to pop in for lunch on a Saturday with the wife. This place is located in a Stop and Shop strip mall a stone’s throw from CCSU. That reminds me to say, CCSU students, get over to Tango pronto. You’ll love it. When we walked in we were the only customers in the joint. We interacted with a super sweet guy who I’m guessing is the owner. He told us to take a seat and he came over with menus. Being the Unilocaly Unilocalerson that I am I had already spent quite a bit of time perusing the menu in advance of our arrival. I knew exactly what we wanted: The namesake Tango pizza and some empanadas. The Tango has mozzarella, grilled flank steak and chimichurri Sauce. I was expecting it to be covered in meat however each of the 6 pieces(of a small) had 1 slice of grilled flank steak. That was fine though because it was very flavorful. The crust is light and different but not so different that it’s not like regular pizza. My only complaint was that there was too much cheese on it(but that’s merely a quibble). We ordered a set of beef empanadas and a set of chicken ones, baked. They were absolutely delicious and crispy. I think I preferred the beef just because they were slightly more complex than the chicken(with bits of hard boiled egg and green olives inside). The owner was incredibly engaging and generous with information about their menu(in regards to the miga and other sandwiches). I look forward to more empanadas and sandwiches there in the future. We didn’t have any adult beverages but(as noted in other reviews) the prices are CHEAP(which I love). Beers are under $ 4 and they have some bottles of wine for $ 16(a steal). Give this place a shot, they deserve it and so do you!

My friend and I quite regularly frequent the sushi restaurant next door and have always been curious about Tango Pizza. We recently found a CBS deal for the place and figured we’d take the opportunity to try it out this past Saturday. The restaurant was very clean and welcoming. When we walked in, the waiter suggested that we sit on the left side of the restaurant to avoid a draft when the door opened, which was nice because it was pretty cold out. I’m only bothering to mention that because it was beginning of exceptional service. We had just purchased the CBS deal and I hadn’t printed it out. As it turns out, it says right on it that it needs to be printed, but the owner went above and beyond for us in calling in to see if there was a way around it for this one circumstance(we were the first to use a voucher). Although we were told we need to print any out that we want to use in the future, he ended up being able to work with us. He probably spent about 20 minutes on the phone and as soon as he had determined that he would be able to accommodate us, he came over to let us know it would be fine and he would explain what we needed to do once we were finished dining. I appreciated that he came to tell us so that we didn’t need to worry, but that he waited until the end of our meal to tell us the instructions. You don’t often see that kind of consideration these days. On to the menu. The alcohol is exceptionally well-priced. They have a respectable beer selection(small, but enough variety to make your average beer drinker happy, including a gluten-free option) and all of their wines are Argentinian– mostly reds, but there was one white on the menu and we ordered a bottle for only $ 16. Delicious — not too dry, not too sweet. The food options are quite varied — empanadas, pizza, Argentinian appetizers, sandwiches, paninis, pasta, desserts, etc. Enough to please anyone! We ordered empanadas and pizza. I absolutely plan on going back to try the other options. The empanadas were delicious. They can be prepared fried or baked. We requested the chicken empanadas and the corn empanadas, both baked and both exceptionally tasty. We ordered a large Vegetariana pizza. I had never had Argentinian pizza before Saturday, and I will say it was a bit different than what I’m used to. I’m pretty picky with my pizza but I’d be willing to try it again, now knowing what to expect. I will say it was expertly cooked — the crust was perfectly crispy and it was very flavorful(and we subbed garlic in place of the kalamata olives, which of course always makes a pizza even better!). And the single slices were unbelievably inexpensive. As I said, I’d love to try some of the more traditional Argentinian specialties next time, like one of the Miga sandwiches and definitely more empanadas). For dessert, I tried the Queso y Dulce, which is a layer of cuartirolo cheese under a layer of sweet potato paste. I had been expecting something like cheesecake, but this was actually quite different, more of a solid gelatinous texture. I had never tried anything like it before, and the sweetness of the top layer nicely complemented the cheese on the bottom, but it wasn’t overly sweet. I would plan on trying another dessert next time, as there were a lot of other options that sounded really good — flan, lime pie, dulce de leche crepes, alfajores, and ice cream. The ice cream seemed a little pricey in comparison to the rest of the menu, but I usually go to a restaurant that specializes in ice cream if I want ice cream anyway. You can tell that all of the staff take great pride in the restaurant and that service is very important. Our waiter was genuinely friendly and very knowledgeable on menu recommendations(or willing to ask the owner or chef if we had any questions he could not answer). Tango Pizza has a bright, clean, and surprisingly elegant atmosphere — casual, but thoughtfully arranged and decorated. I would definitely go back to try more.

Pretty good. I took the advice of others and ordered a Chicken Empanada and a Tango Pizza. The pizza was pretty good but didn’t knock me out of my socks however the empanada was incredible. I got home and immediately regretted getting 1 order. I think I would definitely go back for empanadas.

Got a tip about this place from a foodie who works nearby and said you have to check this place out, so I did. This is an Argentinian Pizza restaurant serving full meals, sandwiches, pizza and the typical fair you might find on a visit to that country. I was there to try the empanada’s and boy what a pleasant surprise. The dough is sourced from Argentina, I was told it was the leading brand from the country’s largest supplier, I am here to tell you it was nothing short of amazing, there is nothing like it in our country among our Latin American food purveyors. I asked for an order of beef empanada’s fried, the other option is baked. I defy anyone to tell me that they could discern that this product had been fried other than by it’s flavor as it’s appearance was had no give away. There was not the slightest hint of oil absorption, the crust was golden brown and the flakiest most tasty dough I’ve eaten in my personal experience! The filling was typical Argentinian, course ground beef, a pepper, onion, garlic, olive tomato sauce with bits of shredded hard boiled egg. Only Argentinian wines are sold her and the price per bottle is extremely reasonable ranging from $ 16 to $ 32. I plan to visit this place again for a Miga, a tripleta type sandwich.

Relaxing place, clean, with nice atmosphere. Attentive service, & the food came out quickly. The Brazilian pizza was very unique and tasty. They have daily specials that look — today they had some kind of rolled, stuffed flank steak. I can’t wait to go back to try their empanadas!
