Normally I really enjoy my food here but yesterday I was very disappointed. Yesterday was my birthday and I told my husband I wanted a whole belly clam dinner from Doogies. I had to work all day and was really looking forward to those clams. Unfortunately the bellies were missing. They looked like the clams were cut up prior to breading them so they could be stretched out. For over $ 19 they were definitely not worth it. I will go back to getting the fried shrimp platter, that is always very good.

Went in here on a Saturday afternoon there was a slow moving line and the employees seemed a little stressed out so when I got my chance to order I said«gimme the doogie» and he said«what?» I said«gimme the doogie I have to get going» so he said«I got your doogie right hare» so I told him to throw in some fries too, so with some attitude I got out of there. Dog was decent seems they improved since the last time I was there but the fries were little greasy as before.

Great hotdogs!!! I love hotdogs, especially natural casings. These are the bomb!!! Huge! Fixed many different ways(fixings). Onion rings are mediocre. I won’t bother next time. Can’t beat their cup of NE clam chowder for 3.98. It is excellent. I will return and plan to try the clam strips. They also have burgers, fixed many different ways, fries, fried dough. Yummm! Something(non-healthy) for everyone!

I love hot dogs… I’ve been to Doogies numerous times and every time I go i wanted to be wowed by wow good but I never have been. My hands down fav is the Reuben dog. Everything you love in a Rueben but on a hot dog. Good stuff. But! They don’t beat Capitol lunch. A onion chili mustard small dog at Doogies is almost 2 bucks more than at Cappys !!! Save your money and head in new Britain!!! 1.80 for a loaded dog… Maybe Doogies will cut one in half for ya… and charge you 1.80…

No beef hotdogs… The lobster roll was very plain and not very good, but that’s expected at a hotdog/burger joint. The hamburger was very rubbery and heavy… Similar to what you would get at a fast food joint. I’m not sure I would ever come back. Maybe they are famous for the two footers? Service was alright they seemed nice enough.

Went to doogie’s around lunch time on a tuesday. it was packed! We both got hamburgers and they were both DELISH! The fries were amazing and fountain drinks were refillable. I did have a large baby stroller so it was difficult to navigate in the small restaurant in between the tables, but the other diners were kind and understanding(baby is too young for a regular seat or high chair). Also, the guy at the counter that took our order was very personable, he took the time to talk to the baby even though people were in line. I will totally come here again!

I am not sure why this restaurant is so popular, but popular it is. I was surprised that the smallest hot dog available was 10″ for a plain. I ordered a pair for takeout and requested mustard, onions and relish. I was told that I would have to put the condiments on myself. No big deal except it became very congested as the condiments are located in a small area of the counter adjacent to the soda machine. The hot dogs are Martin Rosol’s with a good snap and flavor, but the roll was way too small for the size of the dog. Total for 2 with no beverage or tip was $ 7.85. Overall I would rate this place as slightly above average in quality, but overpriced. 2.5 Stars would be most appropriate.

Don’t go to Doogie’s if you’re looking for a reasonable priced meal. Their food is expensive and average at best. The french fries were either under-done and mushy or over-done and burnt. The chili tasted like it was Hormel, and the cheese sauce was tepid and gluey. My biggest complaint about Doogie’s is also their customer service. Hungry and over excited one and half year old children can get noisy. It is unnecessary to compare any one’s child to an animal, and then proceed to stare at them. In the end it made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. All of these together mean that my family and I shall not be returning to Doogie’s.

Had the clam strip sandwich and my bf had a hotdog with cheese and bacon. All very good! Order was ready quickly! Lots of people coming in and out and still remained clean. Only downfall is the music but I know it goes with the theme of the restaurant. Will definitely be back!

Best hotdog money can buy. The hubby likes the 24 inch Man VS. Food dog. I got a foot long college dog. We sat and ate our dogs outside with a big tub of curly fries and dual root beers. Life couldn’t have gotten any better. Definitely a yes choice if you want an amazing hot dog. Kind of pricey but surely worth every penny. The atmosphere is very casual, accommodation for everyone, and very friendly. During the warmer months I recommend taking your dining outside, just make sure it’s not too windy. One of those places you have to try before you kick it.

Bottom line… OVERPRICED. This is a great example of a place that doesn’t really know how to do anything really well, but still likes to charge as if they did. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a great buy or value. Food quality is fine, but nothing special… ATALL. For example, the chili was seriously the exact same as out of a can of Hormel. Another example, the cheese for cheese fries is served to you in a plastic Solo container, not dumped over your fries. The cheese was lukewarm at best. Cheese fries were like 4.39 or something!!! It’s not like they served you a massive order either. Limited selection on soda flavors… I think they had 6 from which to choose. 10 inch hot dogs run at least 4 bucks and go way up in price from there. If this place hadn’t been on Man vs. Food, we wouldn’t have visited. We actually wish after having visited, that we hadn’t. Save your money and go somewhere else.

This place has tasty dogs. I had a chili with onions and asked if I could have jalapeños added. They said no problem. When the order came up the woman said that was the first time she’s seen that combo in 15 years she’s worked there. Nice! It was delicious! Feel free to make a new dog combo named after me! Hmmmm Franks Frank? Good place check it out!

I think Doogie’s is a 3.5÷5 but I had to give it the 4 just because of reputation and because its often just what i’m looking for — a delicious hot dog or Philly Steak and Cheese. Man vs Food was here and they have a Dog on the menu devoted to him. Its not the most intimate of places to eat but if you are just looking to grab a quick bite then its perfect. I think you can get an equally good dog at other places but you typically don’t get the variety and also the service sizes you would at Doogies.

Doogie’s was recently voted 2014’s Best Hot Dog in Connecticut. The hot dog I got was OK, but I wouldn’t as far to say it’s the best I’ve had in the state. There are options for a 10-inch, 16-inch, and 24-inch dog. You can get toppings such as chili, cheese, onions, and peppers. Or you can load up your own dog with ketchup, mustard, raw onions, or two types of relishes from the condiment bar. What really turned me off about this place was the overall attitude of the employees. Here were a few things said, word for word: My Dad: I’ll take a 24-inch Doogie. Cashier: So you want the 2-foot Doogie? My Dad: The 24-inch. Cashier(with a sarcastic tone): Yeah, that’s 2 feet. *Customer’s baby starts crying* Doogie’s Employee: OK, enough. It’s time to go! There was also a poster on the wall outlining Doogie’s Rules of Conduct, and they all pretty much said to just eat your food and get out without making any comments. It’s really not OK to treat customers the way Doogie’s does, especially somewhere with the«Best Hot Dog in Connecticut.»

Doogies is a hole in the wall, easy to miss place on the Berlin Turnpike. It is small, cozy and independently owned. The interior is adorned with old records on the walls and music that should be played at a 1950’s style diner is in a loop on the radio. While doogies has many things on the menu, they’re known for their hot dogs. They have many toppings, but my favorite is the Dixie Dog, which is topped with coleslaw and BBQ pulled pork. While you can order a small dog, if you come here, you really have to try the two foot long hotdog. To my knowledge, it’s the longest hotdog you can buy. It’s so long that instead of a normal role, it’s served on a loaf of Italian bread. While doogies might not be gourmet, it certainly is unique and if you’re in the area and want a monster hot dog, it’s where I recommend going.

Well hello there… would you like a 10 inch, 18 inch, or a 24 inch? Hot Dogs, that is. When driving from NYC to Boston area, a good pit stop off the Merritt Parkway is Doogies. Famously on Man vs Food — I was really excited to try Doogies. I ordered the following: — Doogies hot dog — with caramelized onions — Dixie(?) hot dog — with BBQ pork and homemade cole slaw Both were pretty good. It was good childhood memories(hot dogs + coney island in Brooklyn, NY)! 2 inch hot dogs + curly fries + soda = $ 14.00 Good pit stop to try their hot dogs. Although both bf and I wished that there were different types of hot dogs(i.e. different types of sausages). Doogies is known for their hot dogs with different and unique toppings. They also have spicy relish! Great for kids. ENJOY! P. S. Go see the cool bumper stickers in the bathroom.
