This is definitely the best restaurant in Santa Clarita! My husband and I have been a few times and it is always fantastic! I wish I took pictures of everything because it was all beautiful AND delicious. They have the prettiest, most scrumptious cheese and charcuterie plate ever! There is a great list of craft beers(and awesome wine, too). I try to get something different every time I go but some of my favorites have been: scallop poke, beet salad, mushroom toast and the diver scallops with hominy and chorizo – YUM!

Up here for work. Limited exceptions. Then boom, totally blown out of the water! Take my side order of carrots — yes carrots — they only cost a few bucks yet all kinds of flavors, cooking techniques and sauces going on. Best carrots ever. Same with oysters on half shell which turned out to have caviar, couple sauces(but none overpowering) and served in bed of rocks with dry ice(worth it just for look). Really cool place that’d fit in in the best parts of SF or NY — but nicer service and better prices.

My wife works at College of the Canyons and this is definitely one of our go-to places when we’re in the area. We almost always go for happy hour — their food and beer selection is second-to-none. We haven’t gotten a single drink or food item we didn’t like. While they are slightly over-priced for the area — the service and the atmosphere make up for it… my *only* complaint is that if you want to try a beer flight — not only are you severely limited(you can only get about 1⁄3 of the beers they offer) — but if you want to pick your own, they charge you more.(Versus bartender’s choice). I’d even be OK with that if you could make a request(no IPAs, no stouts, etc)… but you can’t.

This place is run by an absolutely rude and inappropriate manager, Roy. He was so outrageously absurd and crass that I will NEVER return here and I will tell everyone to not come. He ruins the place.

What a great find! I’ve eaten here several times now and can not seem to pick a favorite menu item. Everything is so amazing and done with the freshest and most creative ingredients. The plating and presentation are better than some of the fine dining experiences I’ve had. The pairing with the hand crafted beers makes it that much better. It has a great feel to the place and the staff are super friendly and knowledgable. My son-in-law is a professional chef at a very swanky LA restaurant and he insist we go to the Newhall Refinery every time he’s out my way. Job well done!!!

Had some out of town brew artisans visiting so I brought them here. Great food, beer and wine. Small pub food choices, the steak with blue cheese and marmalade was AMAZING! Go during the week for lunch and truly take it all in.

Went here for my hubby’s birthday. They were super accommodating to our party of over 20 people, the service was great, and the food was fantastic. I picked out this place from Unilocal and super glad that I did. We will definitely be going back soon.

Just a quick update since I’ve been here a couple times since my last posting the last time was on Saturday, January 30 at around 5PM. We’re glad we got there at this time because within an hour the place was full. We had five in our party and we all ordered some different items, mine this time was the hanger steak which was cooked at a medium rare and soft and silky on my tongue. To compliment the succulent flavor was a side of a leek purée that was also complimented by white asparagus. I choose a mocha stout from a place in San Diego for my beer which had rich darkness about it with a hint of spicy aftertaste. Suzanne was the person who took care of us that night and we were fortunate to have her wait on us the last time so we knew she would take care of us this time and she did. Many good things have been said about Newhall Refinery and all of them true so go there as soon as possible or if you are like me return there when you can.

We discovered this place here on Unilocal, and we divided to check it out, was an great choice. The place is clean, has friendly staff, chef is talented, and food is extraordinary. Drinks are just as good. You won’t be disappointed just try this place you won’t regret it, be careful portions are small enough for you to order like 3 plates lol.

HOWCANTHISPLACEBEREAL??? It’s amazing. Ah-may-zing. Everything we had here was choice. And we ordered a looooot of food. Probably too much food. But NORAGRETS!!! We started this wonderful culinary journey with the combo platter. This comes with assorted cheese, sausage, prosciutto, fruit, FUCKINGHONEYCOMB, fruit jam, teeny weenie pickles, olives, and lots of stuff that I kind of forgot about. But wow, so, so, sooooo good. Then we got the refinery fries WHICHARESENTSTRAIGHTFROMGODHIMSELFANDHOLYFUCKTHEYARESODELICIOUS. Fries, some kind of fancy cheese sauce, and brisket THEFLAVORSWEREELECTRIC. Next we got the mushroom toast which had a sous vide egg yolk on top that you stab open and the yolk oozes out all over the mushrooms oooooooooooohhhhhh myyyyyyyyy goooooooooood can’t even. Can’t. Even. Boyfriend got the cheeseburger which I had a bite of and it was juicy and had wonderful flavors but he ordered it medium, and I like to eat burgers medium rare. We got the hanger steak and WOOOOOOOOOOITWASFIRE!!! SOGOOD!!! Had some kind of green purée and garlic horseradish sauce and asparagus and house made potato chips ITWASDISCO. Our waiter was super chill, his name is Carl, and he gave me a blueberry bread pudding for my birthday and deserves MADPRAISE. That pudding was delicious, but I gotta say… the butterscotch beignets were to fucking die for. I can’t even believe these are allowed to exist for human consumption because they are MAGIC. We talked to the manager, and he is super nice and also we talked to one of the chefs(longish hair, beard, friendly as heck). Everyone is so nice here!!! EVERYTHINGISGRAND.

My first truly exciting restaurant find in the Santa Clarita Valley, other than the Korean tofu soup place I had for lunch the other tday. On my way home, I stumbled upon old town Newhall. It looks like a Western town. It is still an up and coming area, and I can’t wait to see what else opens in the area. There’s a barbecue place that just opened and it looks promising with its high Unilocal rating. I walked in because I saw on my trusty Untappd app that they had Mikkeller on tap!!! Heck, yes! The only place that I’ve found Mikkeller on tap was at Michelin-rated Torst in Brooklyn, NYC. I plopped myself on the bar and was promptly greeted by the friendly bartender. A woman started chatting me up and ask me to sit right next to her. I thought it was weird, but I was game for good conversation from a friendly local solo diner at the bar. I ordered a flight of beer — any three on tap for $ 12. A Mikkeller double IPA and their oatmeal stout. I also tried a local red ale from local Santa Clarita Brewery, Pocock Brewing Company. This will definitely not be my last visit. I’m probably going to be a regular here. The food menu looks terrific. The burger looked delicious and the woman I was talking to said it was really tasty. The meat in the burger is from Niman Ranch. Something I will definitely order next time! If I didn’t have Indian food, I would have definitely had dinner at Newhall Refinery. Highly recommended for rare craft beer! I can’t wait to try the food. The scene is definitely buzzing and I imagine it would be difficult to score a seat here during peak hours and weekends. The place got packed by the time I left.

People associate Valencia with a lot of things such as: white lifted trucks, flexfit hats worn backwards, dvs skate shoes on 40 year old men, etc. Generally, good food is not one of them. Newhall Refinery completely changed the game. This place has become one of my top 10 favorite restaurants in California. Literally everything on the menu is amazing and the drinks are phenomenal. This is one of those places that you can literally order anything and it’s going to be amazing. Why such an amazing gem of a restaurant is wasted on such a weird town like Valencia, I’ll never know, but I will gladly drive up and give them my business because they fine folks here are doing something right.

I heard so many great things about this place. So yesterday we gave it a try. To tell you the truth, the food was okay. I had a lobster roll. The portion is small for $ 13. So if you’re really hungry go with something else. Everybody raves about the blueberry bread pudding. I was kinda expecting something wow. But it was just good but not that great and again, too small. Also I’m wondering how come I didn’t get the crème anglaise? I saw all the blueberry pudding pics here, they all have the crème. How come I didn’t get one? They forgot or is that an extra??? Surprisingly the mac n cheese of their kids menu is pretty big for $ 5 and they’re good too. Service: ok We left unsatisfied. Maybe I should give a try one more time. I’ll try their dinner next visit. Who knows, maybe next time will be better.

We’ve been meaning to come here for a couple months. Now we have! Wonderful small place. There is a limited food menu but I thought that was good because sometimes I get overwhelmed by a 4 page menu front and back. Plenty of beer to choose from for the guys out there, my fiancé loved that. The outside of the building is very simple. I would have thought nothing of it passing by. The inside was rustic and reminded us of a oil refinery. I had the cubano and my fiancé the hangar steak sandwich. Both were very good. We had the blueberry bread pudding for dessert. Yummy. I couldn’t even finish my sandwich, I took the rest home. Definitely we will come back

Food is amazing. Chefs do their jobs very well. Sous chef came out and explained to us what was in the dish by detail. Service is amazing. Our server was friendly and even sang for us! This place is always packed so plan on coming early to reserve if you have a big group. Refiner’s Fries and Craft Burgers are both great. Try the Bone Marrow and ask for lemon. I’ll come back any day I can.

Nice atmosphere, great food, tons of beer choices! Santa Clarita needs more restaurants like this! I had the Fried Chicken sandwich on a pumpernickel bun with a slice of watermelon, watercress and a honey mustard aioli! Delish!!! My mom had the rock shrimp tacos, beautiful presentation and fantastic taste to match!

I came after previously eating lunch and wasn’t too hungry. I just had the fruitesse beer and the blueberry sourdough bread pudding. Both were delicious. I was surprised with the bread pudding and a little skeptical of the use of sourdough, but luckily the natural taste of sourdough didn’t come through. The restaurant is too dimly lit for my liking and could stand to be a little cleaner. The dishes are definitely too pricey to make me a regular(and with that price they could stand to afford the electricity), but I’ll probably be back on occasion. SCV doesn’t have«nightlife,» so options for places to drink is minimal and Newhall Refinery has an extensive beer list I’m looking forward to trying.

We pulled up to DT Newhall this blustery Winter’s night and strolled to The Newhall Refinery. The décor, mode and crowd were hipster enough to make me weary… However. The booze selection and pricing were on par. Anytime Whiskey takes up an entire shelf it’s a win. We had a menagerie of taste. From the cheese board, to the mushroom toast, Poke !!! And MacNCheese with Jameson? There was a mushroom cloud above my head, that’s how mind blown I was. I couldn’t complain about anything. Not even a slightly inebriated older gentleman and his crappy racist joke could taunt me into taking a stab at him or one of the five well earned stars here. Behind you, I’ve been behind a similar bar, washrack, and food counter. Kudos to you Newhall!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the SCV. If you are wanting some delicious food and a break from all of the chain restaurants up here, look no further. I’m not a huge beer drinker, so I usually grab a craft cocktail off their menu that changes seasonally. We always start with a pretzel to share. Hot delicious pretzel-ness served with mornay(white cheese sauce) and a honey mustard sauce.(Cheese sauce is better and always goes too quickly, you can get both sauces cheese sauce for a small up-charge.) From here, there are so many options! The tomato burrata salad is so fresh and delicious. The beet salad is great, too. The Diver Scallop and the Halibut are both delicious choices for entrees. Definitely save room for dessert, even though it will be hard! My favorite dessert is the Banana Pudding. Out of this world! The blueberry bread pudding is delicious, too. This is a good place to bring vegetarians, as they have options beyond a veggie burger or a salad. It is a little pricey here, but the quality will not disappoint!

Newhall Refinery has a very good beer selection, decent wines, and a variety of unique cocktails. Enough to please any variety of people. And their bartenders are impressive for their ability to serve so well under such pressure: this place dead PACKED. And from what I’m told, that’s the norm. We got there at five, left at nine, and it was buzzing the whole time. Four hours, you say, seems a long time for three people to hang. Yes, you’re right. It’s because they have a terribly disorganized and seemingly apathetic front staff. We arrived, put down our name, got a buzzer, and were told thirty minutes for three. Forty minutes later, I checked in again. I knew immediately that we’d been forgotten because the host looked sheepish after flipping back a few pages on the list he saved face saying we were the next three top. Then, over the next twenty minutes, my two companions also checked in. All the while, one of the front eight-top tables was only half populated. Twice, by two different four-person groups. When we asked why we couldn’t sit there, they said they liked to keep it open for big groups. No specific reservations. Just the potential. Ridiculous. Based on this, I would have rated them one star. Like most, I can’t stand crappy service. But the food looked good, and I was feeling stubborn. And when we finally got seated, things turned right around. Our server was totally on the ball. Our food was out super fast. Plus, it was super tasty. We shared the cheese tray, which was quite impressive. I mean, a lot of places have boring cheese trays with little flavor variety. I might like one or two. Not only did I like them ALL, but the Boschetto(an Italian sheep with black truffles) is now one of my top three fave cheeses. This speaks to their quality purchasing. Granted, they forgot to serve the bread with it, but they quickly remedied when we pointed it out. The hummus plate was also yummy, with nice crisp pita chips that seemed housemade, and we liked the unusual flavored of the roasted carrots. In general, everyone serves when the food is ready, as it should be. But our assigned server also checked up on us fairly regularly, considering how busy they were. The food saved the experience. Based on it alone, this place is a four. I would certainly consider going back when in town. But only if I had time to spare.
