Friendly local yarn store. They have some great kits they’ve put together, and an interesting range of yarns for a small store. Staff are super-helpful, and able to assist with all kinds of knitting problems!

Loved my visit with Betsy today. Her yarn shop is adorable and she was a delight to talk to and offered some great information about the local yarns she offers. I enjoyed my afternoon visit on her shop which is very clean, well organized and a pleasure to shop in. Loved the locally made yarns she had and the lighting in the shop was great on the dark rainy day I visited. If you ever get to visit Newburyport I highly recommend you stop in. Wish I lived here because I would be a regular in her shop. What a joy. It was a highlight of my week here in New England.

The friendly and knowledgable owner was in the store, freshly returned from buying more yarn. The store is not that big, but they have a carefully curated selection of yarn. I always like to ask for something local on my travels, and she was able to quickly show me a local yarn. They have put together a great many kits with yarn and the pattern to make shawls and hats and the like. I made a small purchase here, after most likely misleading the owner on my skill level and interest by telling her I don’t do socks.(I don’t, I make toys and sweaters and all sorts of stuff both from my own patterns and those of others – I’m sure she thought that I don’t want to increase or do anything but garter stitch – my bad!) If you are in the area, stop by!

This is a great shop! I go every Wednesday night for a knit circle, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming! They have a great selection of yarns, and knitting and crochet supplies. It’s one of my favorite places in Newburyport!

Wonderful Yarn store for the knitter and weaver alike. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Went out of their way to find me just what I wanted when they didn’t carry a particular yarn. Love, love, love the store and I’ve never had a problem getting a close parking spot either. A real gem worth the trip!

standard but nice selection of yarn, knitting supplies and books. I love picking up what I need when I’m in town but for me the real value is the affordable classes they offer in not only knitting and crochet, but spinning and weaving. It’s hard to find a place that teaches spinning, whether on a spindle or wheel, but ALWAV offers classes and workshops in both. They also stock a nice selection of spinning fiber. Class prices are reasonable – most are two-hour sessions that meet anywhere from one to four times and cost around $ 40-$ 50(not including supplies). Well worth the money, and the instructors really know their stuff. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Convienent downtown location.

cute store in a quaint town. range of yarn from standard wool to kettle dyed malabrigo and some cool fibers like soy. average prices. also a small section of hand-dyeds and a decent sale section. lots of accessories, needles, and really cute shawl pins, plus a good reading area and a big weaving room. basically, a good LYS but nothing to travel for– they didn’t have anything i hadn’t seen before. good basics and a nice space though… maybe this place would be more impressive to a weaver…
