Great place for family dinner. The food is good, lot’s of options for families with picky eaters and good variety of wine/beer.

Wife and I had 2 days away from the kids and came to Newbury for some skiing. Stayed across the street from Salt Hill Pub. Stopped in here around 8 on a Tuesday night. Place was pretty empty and we sat at the bar. Abby, the GM, greeted us and was very bubbly. Really nice and personable. We ordered honey siracha wings, that were fantastic. Really big wings, and lots of flavor. We had prime rib, and a hot turkey dinner for our meals. Both were solid. Greg, the bartender, checked in on us, but let us enjoy our meals and converse. After we finished, we chatted with him for a little while. Got some dessert to go, which was great also. This was a perfect night out, thank you Abby and Greg! Salt Hill has a cool vibe-little homey, local feel to it, with great people. Good beer selection, about 15 on tap. Bar area mostly enclosed by glass, so there is separation from the dining room. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the Sunapee area. It is less than 1 mile from Mt Sunapee. Next time we are in the area, we’ll be sure to stop by again.

Great Burgers and drinks, large bar and usually very crowded and music on some week nights.

This was my first visit to this SH. Usually go to Newport one. Food was good as it usually is. Waitress not so much, very forgetful. Asked for mayo and after waiting a very long time had to stop her and ask again. Wanted another beer, she took my glass and never returned until she brought the bill. My #1 complaint is the lighting, it is so dark that you can’t even see the menu. I would go back, but wait until summer when it’s still light enough to see.

The food was average, a little pricey. It took a while for our food to come out. We were seated on the patio with a extremely loud group of kids. it was also rainy and the patio roof leaked a bit. Probably wont be coming back here

The advent of the Salt Hill Pub’s Sunapee location was a positive development in the immediate vicinity of Mount Sunapee’s ski resort and lakeside activities. With no apre-ski venues to speak of in the immediate vicinity, the outstanding experience in the ski resort which normally gets eight to ten«top ten» ratings for Eastern ski areas used to suffer. The Salt Hill Pub provides for a welcome respite after a good ski day or an afternoon spent in summer pursuits at the lake. An additional benefit is that it is located next to Skinners Ski Shop, the long-standing ski outfitter in the area, so you can get your skis tuned and waxed at the end of the day while having a late afternoon or early evening libation and some food. Salt Hill provides a large social area and a HUUUUGE bar with plenty of seating for socializing and getting to know both travelers and locals. And it does get a good share of customers. I can see the rationale for some of the reviews citing slow service with a very crowded place, but the several times we’ve been there the service was quick, friendly and efficient and as well, food quality was excellent. The other item worth commenting is the cleanliness and orderliness of the place including the washroom facilities. They have the usual American Pub Food, but in addition their menu has some outstanding dinner items such as the Salt Hill Beef & Guinness Stew, a hearty, plentiful and filling dish that makes you want more at the expense of your waistline. Their Shepherd’s Pie is equally satisfying. And their Fish and Chips are large and crispy. I hope they continue on expanding.

Here you go 4 stars. Would have given you five, but someone forgot my silver wear. Other than that the food was excellent and fast. It was fifteen minutes when my food arrived. I definitely will be coming back here again. And I will recommend it to my friends also! I had one of the best burgers so far. The chipotle bacon burger with some fries and root bear. Probably the best me I’ve had since I’ve been to New York. But to all of you reading this why don’t give it a try? It’s pretty good.

Good Pub food, great great service, big burger grilled bun, great wings. And I bought a BEER periodic table of elements t shirt too! Good, fresh prepared food worth the wait. More time to view the beautiful foliage outside the huge windows.

Hope this place fares better than the many other spots at this location that have failed. It has lots of potential. we sat outside on the porch on a warm evening… I ordered a mojito which was one of the featured cocktails that night. Took a long time for the drink to arrive… and it wasn’t made correctly. Wife and I split a delicious huge plate of nachos. Wife had the watermelon salad which she enjoyed very much. I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was done perfectly and tasted good. server was extremely pleasant. owner/mgr came over towards the end and checked in.(didn’t mention the mojito). good location… priced right. friendly atmosphere… we wish them good luck!

Went here with our family tonight. It took 45 minutes for the food to come out. It was raining and my daughter had a droplet of rain fall on her from the leaky sky light window. Overall our food was good, but the waitress was very slow and didn’t take care of us very well. My wife asked for mayonnaise for her burger and it didn’t arrive for about 15 minutes. Next time we will head to Newport and eat where we know we will have a good time.

Wonderful food and great bartender. I would have given it 5 stars but the décor is tacky and looks like leftover decorations from a chain restaurant.

Excellent addition to the Salt hill group of restaurants. Menu is usual pub fare, decent beer selection, and friendly staff. Atmosphere on ski weekends is lively and fun, as it is on summer evenings. I’ve never had a long wait either season even on busy nights. Staff is helpful and gracious, even changing channel to watch obscure sporting events, like UConn conference semifinals last year. Highly recommended!

We enjoy all 4 Salt Hill locations… We have been to the Newbury location several times, each visit we have tried new items on the menu and found them consistently great. Salt Hill is great food, local beers and a warm atmosphere… We can’t wait for them to open a fifth location — please New London!

We went to the salt hill pub in newbury because we had previously eaten at the new london location and loved it. The newbury location is terrible. There were fruit flies in my husband’s drink and when the manager walked around to see how everyone was doing he completely ignored our comment about the drink. The beer was warm, the potato chips tasted like raw fish and the burger was over cooked. Our server was great however the food was terrible therefore we won’t be returning to the newbury location, next time we will drive to new London

Need some management present, stood 10 mins & no one came out to seat us, only 2 tables active so wasn’t because busy. Took 50 mins for food to arrive. Asked for salad that went with pasta dish, waitress came back & said chef says comes with meal. After 50 mins went to kitchen, no staff on floor, no bartender, they were all in kitchen. Pasta came, without salad, took another 10 mins for salad. Salad in a hot dish, dressing on side & warm, pasta gummy. 2 fish & chips were good, but coleslaw & tartar sauce warm. Weren’t lacking in staff, 2 waiters & a bartender, but no service & no one asked if we needed another drink. We love the owners & their other restaurants & had heard about the issues here. Hope it gets straightened out. Was our first time here, friend has tried twice before and same problems

This is one of my favorite Salt Hill restaurants out of the three of them — The Shanty is better than the Newport one for sure, and it’s also better than the last 3 or 4 restaurants that have been in that building. I’m a fan of the chicken fingers, the«green Grateful Dead» and the outdoor seating. Another good drink is the snakebite, or poor man’s black velvet — Guiness and cider. It’s a really high traffic area though, so you should expect a wait most of the time, but they try to accommodate. :-) This is a welcome addition into the rotation of lunch/dinner places in the area! It’s also fun that another generation gets to hear a bit about the old Shanty’s traditions and make some more memories.

Came here this winter after they opened on a ski vacation in December 2014. As old resident’s to the area and a fan of their other restaurants, this is by far the best sit down restaurant in Newbury. Glad to see this place thriving as other owners in this location have failed miserably. The service was at times very slow, but they were extremely friendly and apologetic. What can you really ask for in an Irish Pub though? Food was REALLY tasty unlike other Pubs in the area, and they had just enough items on the menu. I would recommend the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. They fry them up, accompany them with lots of cheese, and Bacon, and it’s an appetizer that actually feeds the entire table and doesn’t leave you with that awkward last piece. They don’t mess around with Portions here. The wings are also very good, cheap, and meaty. Exactly what you want after skiing. My wife had the fish and chips, she loved it. I’ve tried just about all the burgers here, they are all great, cooked to your liking, and they don’t skimp you on the fries, which are also very good. Beer selection is mediocre, would have liked a more crafty selection, but they had just opened. My wife loved the house wine, mainly because the pour like Irish people — right to the rim ;). Can’t complain about that. Atmosphere in the restaurant was very simple, we were hoping they would set it up like RiRa’s or something a little more decorative to the theme of the restaurant. Lot’s of TVs in the bar, huge bar, stand up tables, and plenty of booths in the dining area. Over all we would definitely come back and you certainly will not find a better pub/bar in town. Friendly, tasty, and affordable. Well done!

This is a review for the recently opened location near the Mount Sunapee ski area. Our family had dinner there on a weeknight. We came in expecting typical pub fare, but were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the dishes. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, as were the fries. Service was excellent, and the waitress was attentive to the needs of children, making sure the food wasn’t too hot and extra napkins were provided(plus there’s an extensive and healthy children’s menu.) On that particular night, the place wasn’t too crowded or loud. A good spot for a hearty meal and drink after a day of skiing.
