What? Closed? I can’t believe this. They had the most fantastic pizza outside of Brooklyn. I guess I’m going to have to move back to Brooklyn.

Anyone know why they closed? I thought they were doing good!

Ive seen so many good reviews for this place, some even comparing it to NYC style pizza, that I had to give it a try. We got a large cheese pie, any pizzeria worth its salt can be judged by its cheese pie, right? . Ummm NYC pizza, NOT even close. The pie was mediocre at best, salty, very salty and it was covered in those corn meal thingies which totally turned us off. We wound up ditching the pie and headed out for wings. I would definitely not recommend this pizzeria. YUCK

While visiting friends up in Newburgh, the need for something quick but quality came to pass and the decision was made to contact Vitanellas Pizzeria since they were one of their main go to places for good pizza. My buddy and I were out and about so it was a quick call to pick this up on the way back. The order was a mushroom pie and I could not wait to try how they made it up here. As I arrived to pick up the order I took visual note of the space itself which was sizable and had several tables on one side and a large cooking and kitchen area on the other side. Several different options for the customer who popped in for a slice and given the upstate location I am thinking that more orders are picked up or delivered to their clientele. The staff that I encountered was friendly and chuckled when I mentioned my being from Brooklyn and needing to see how pizza was done«up here». The overall price ran about $ 16 and it was a very tasty pie. I inhaled about three healthy sized slices. I was surely going to need a lot of exercise after this indulgence. If you are up in the Hudson Valley area of Newburgh and need some good pizza this is a fine choice.

The pizza is just ok. I liked it a lot better when they just opened. Now the pizza is never crispy, even if I ask for it that way. And it’s very oily, like as if they drizzle oil in the box before putting the pizza in… It’s odd, the oil is on the bottom of the crust with crunchy stuff, like cornmeal? And the slice is limp if you try to pick it up. The sauce is nothing special. I can think of several better local options for pizza. Then once I ordered a chicken parmesan dinner. It was like a frozen chicken patty, not a hand-breaded piece of chicken. So I’ll stay away from that. However, they do know their way around a calzone… crispy, puffed up, cheesy goodness. This place has many fans, and the quality of the food seems to hinge on what you order, so it’s worth a try. Just not my favorite.

I’ve lived here 10 years and never knew this place existed until I saw the reviews on here. We ordered an 18 inch cheese pie, mozzarella sticks and two roast beef and fresh mozzarella subs. The pizza was just ok for me — hubby liked it better. The bottom crust tasted burnt and was salty and after eating it I was thirsty. The sauce was also a bit acidic. The mozzarella sticks were on top of a leaf of lettuce which caused the sticks to taste like lettuce. The subs were the best thing we ate — great ratio of fresh, rare roast beef to fresh cheese and the bread was fresh and not stale like at other places. And the order came within 20 –25 minutes just like they said. All in all I will order from here again and maybe try something else such as a calzone or a stromboli and hope that the bottom crust isn’t too burnt/salty.

Amazing pizza, has that local NYC style cooking taste to it, just as good as the mainstream pizza places. Price for the pizza was great, would recommend.

Still really good food. I did not get pizza tonight. I had the chicken roll. Everything was really good. I have no complaints except I couldn’t order chicken tenders and French fries as a meal. The fries were a appetizer. It was al a cart. this isn’t a deal breaker. I have never experienced this before in a pizza place. Maybe a 5 star steakhouse but not for pizza. Still other than that they have delivery now!

Omg… best pizza around. Chicken Parmesan was delish. Make sure you check out the Cannolis, so fresh and as good as when we were in Italy. The tiramisu is really good too! More like a fancy restaurants food than a pizzeria. Trust me. I love good food. There goes my waistline.

I stop here from time to time to grab a slice and the pizza here is godlike, best NYC style pizza I’ve ever tasted. Service is great, price is great, this is my main spot whenever I’m craving pizza. Would recommend, 5 stars+++

Ive lived in the Town of Newburgh for 8 years and haven’t had a great pizzeria experience until now! My family ordered the Eggplant Parmesan, white pizza with broccoli, mozzarella caprese, garlic knots and drinks. The marinara is to die for. The white pizza is perfectly seasoned! Awesome! We will be back!

Since we moved to Newburgh four years ago, it’s been a struggle trying to find consistently good pizza in town. Yes, there are a couple of places that make decent pizza, but nothing that I’d say knock our socks off on a regular basis. Just a few weeks ago, Vitanellas opened up down the street from us in an empty storefront(apparently was a deli years ago), and we’ve eaten there a good 5 times in that span. They have a huge daily selection of gourmet slices out that are just delicious(if you like gourmet toppings, this is the place to come in Newburgh!)-spinach, roasted peppers, and olives, chicken parmigiana, white with broccoli, white with spinach & bacon, grandma, stuffed, a killer Sicilian, mushroom & pepperoni, eggplant & ricotta… the list goes on and on and they change it up everyday. Garlic knots are also quite good, and the sandwiches top notch. Want a tasty Italian combo hero? Try it. The chicken pesto hero is also delicious, with roasted peppers & mozzarella. Prices are very reasonable, and there’s ample room to sit in their spacious dining room. Staff is very friendly, and while at times they seem to be a little overwhelmed by how busy they have gotten, especially on the weekends, they constantly thank customers for their patience, and the food is worth the few extra minute wait. I’m always a sucker for a good, family owned local business, and am thankful that Vitanellas have opened up in our neighborhood. They take cash or credit cards, though I’m not sure if they are doing deliveries yet. Located on the corner of Rt. 52 and Lakeside, with plenty of parking and easy in & out. Recommended!
