Pet N Play Luxury Pet Resort

For FIVE years my dog Leo would stay at the Pet & Play Resort — he loved it and I loved the fact that I had a good place to bring him to. BUT something’s changed! Our last vist was a nightmare — he was kept in the hospital because «they didn’t have room for him.» Of course I was never notified until I came to pick him up. And yet I was charged the exorbitant boarding fee as if he had been in one of the regular rooms. He wasn’t shampooed and I doubt he was even fed. So much for loyalty and customer service. You can bet I’ll never be back, and if you are reading this review, this is also a place I would advise you to never visit as well.

We took our 25lb collie mix here for her first weekend stay so that we could attend a wedding close by. The staff was extremely helpful and professional, the facilities were very impressive and the prices were great. All dogs are separated by size and temperament. She did not want to leave when we came to pick her up– we will absolutely be back if we are in the area again!

My dog loves staying here. When we arrive to drop her off she starts whining and wagging her tail. She comes home completely exhausted from all the play and fun. I like that Pet N Play offers the option for her to get a kong in her kennel to keep her busy. Before my dog’s first stay a few years ago, I asked to tour the kennel building when we arrived to drop her off. The staff happily obliged and showed me the whole facility. After one of my dog’s visits she was pretty dirty, this was before they installed the special turf, and the staff offered to give her a quick bath or brush her out before we left. The staff is always enthusiastic and friendly.

«Bentley» loves Middlehope Veterinary Hospital and Pet-​N-​Play Resort. He has such an awesome time and just loves Dr. Solomon’s. Dr. Solomon’s is the best vet around. We cannot say enough great, wonderful things about both places. The entire staff is beyond fantastic, extremely friendly, caring, and most of all they go out of their way to help your four legged loves as well as you and your family. We are so lucky to have MVH and PPR in the Hudson Valley…

My husband and I have a VERY energetic lab and needed to board him last minute for a few days. Pet N Play came recommended by someone in our training class so we decided to give them a shot. One big plus is they allow Sunday drop offs/​pickups which quite a few kennels in the area do not! We did the puppy package which includes a little extra attention and a LOT of play time. We didn’t see too much of the facilities but everything was very clean. Our dog came home tired (thank you!!!) and happy. We also used their grooming services while he was there and I have never had our dog smell so good or his coat so shiny! Will definitley be using them again when we need to go away.

I was really thrilled to find a place so closely located to where I live when planning a vacation for my family and I. I love my dog dearly, and am always so sad to go away and leave him behind but I thought that this place was almost heaven sent when I found it online. I did all my research and ended up calling to try and get my dog in. At the time I did not know the exact dates we would be leaving but the secretary/​scheduler Jessica said that would not be a problem and we could just give her an estimated time frame and change the dates if needed. She took a $ 35.00 security deposit to hold a room for us as well. A couple days later my family and I decided we would be unable to go on the vacation as the month was just entirely too busy for us and it would make more sense to choose a later date. I had completely forgotten about the reservation as the everyday hustle and bustle of life got the best of me and it completely slipped my mind. a couple of weeks went by.
The day we were supposed to board my dog, I got a call at about 8:00 pm from Jessica. I answered the phone in a polite yet confused tone and she replied with «excuse me?» In a very rude, almost condescending voice. She proceeded to let me know I did not drop my dog off as planned and she demanded to know why, mind you this was late in the evening way after the time my dog was supposed to be dropped off so why she chose to remind me of this mistake so late in the day I do not know. Anyway, I explained to her that it slipped my mind and I would love to still use their facility as I will be going away at a later date. I explained that she told my boyfriend and I we could change the dates if needed. She told me that they were very busy and she was not going to hold a room for my dog. I can’t say much about the place itself because I never got the opportunity to actually bring my dog, but Jessica was extremely nasty and unpleasant to deal with in general. Needless to say, I will not be using their facility when I go away. I will stick to close family members and friends from now on!

I think people should know that their dogs will possibly be crated all day in the basement while they are staying there. My dog is not crate trained and I did not want him put in a crate and when I asked for an alternative, I was told there was none because I arrived past 9am and he could not be introduced to the other dogs. I asked to see where he was going to be kept and I was told «no». Unfortunately, I did not have plan B so I had to leave him there for 5 hours. He was let out once for 20 min for «one on one time». I also asked that he be taken for a vaccination at 10:30 which never happened and they apologized for that. For 37 $, I expect more. I have asked for him to not be crated in other day care centers and it was not a problem. I really don’t see how being locked in a small box in the basement with a 20min break is «luxury». The place is kept well and clean, but appeared to be extremely overcrowded. The staff is pleasant and friendly, yet unaccommodating and unsympathetic. The neighboring vet on the other hand was wonderful.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! I have used them for several years for boarding my dogs and for dog training classes. My dogs are always extremely well cared for when boardin, and are happy and clean when I pick them up. They go willingly in to board, which they have never done anywhere else. They especially love the play groups and the one on one attention. I love that I can go away on vacation and know that my dogs are getting the best care possible.
The training classes are also excellent! You get hands on instruction and practice in teaching your dog basic-​advanced obedience. I cannot believe how far my dogs have come after taking the classes. Even more important than teaching the dogs is teaching the human to be an assertive, confident leader. These are skills that last a lifetime if you practice. I recommend Pet & Play without reservation!

Our dog stayed for a week over the summer. The staff was pleasant and helpful when we were scheduling with them. Unfortunately, when we picked up our dog, she wouldn’t eat properly, was lethargic, and had diarrhea for 6 days following her stay. Very disappointed, especially after paying the premium it costs for their services.

Dunkin had a great time staying last week. As always we were happy knowing he was in good hands while we were away. Every time we drop him off he is so excited that he doesn’t even want to say goodbye. Dogs can’t talk, but actions prove he is happy staying there.

My dog loves it here. He always comes home so playful and then knocks out tired. They are so nice and I feel I can trust them with my dog. The first time I was calling to check on him, and then after that know he is fine. I had shots done across the way at Middle Hope which is great. They were able to do it in between play time.
