Found this place about 8 years ago while on our way home from our cabin in Michigan and it has become a «must stop» for breakfast. It has evolved over the years to include a wine bar as well as cocktails. Breakfast burrito is just one of many great breakfast items. The quality and quantity of food is first rate. Pastry and lunch too. Friendly comfortable atmosphere. If you want cheap go to MacDonalds. High ceilings– old wood floors, and brick walls. Park next to the antique store across the street and visit the outdoor clothing store too.

I was in Newaygo for work and thankfully found this place while driving by. I had never been to this area and felt like I was in the middle of nowhere, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this place! The décor inside is rustic with a vintage flair, brick walls, high ceilings, and beautiful art. The food was excellent and they have a great variety of hot and cold drinks, as well as a full bar. I was happy to find they had vegetarian options and soy milk for my coffee. Score!

They got my order wrong and there definitely wasn’t any stew. They sell mostly sandwich foods. The Cole slaw was in a solo cup.

Good food. Somewhat unclear upon first coming in how the ordering went but soon realized you order at the counter. Great selection of options on the menu and there was so much I wanted to try. Burger I ended up ordering was great. Wish I could come back for another meal but I am traveling on a schedule. Maybe next time we pass through.

Food is amazing. And amazingly overpriced. But the atmosphere is great, and if you want a good lunch in Newaygo county, this is the place. Just wish it didn’t have the price tag of dinner.

Great stop for lunch or a coffee and snack break if you’re headed to or coming back from the great north. My wife had Italian Tuscan soup — delicious! Just the right amount of spice, not overwhelming the chicken and vegetables. I had an Italian cheese sandwich with tomato. Super. Crispy, right balance of cheese to bread and the fresh tomato added the healthy touch I wanted. The coffee was full and rich, just how I like it. Service also super — friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is also great, love the old wooden floor.

Love stopping in when I’m in town. Great coffee & atmosphere. Prices are a little steep for the geographic area, but the food does not disappoint.

I recently stopped by River Stop again, and felt oh-so-nostalgic. There was a beverage that I hadn’t had from there in ages, the Summer Breeze. Strawberries, orange juice, peach syrup, all blended into a heavenly concoction that was perfect for the random warm spring day! They also serve alcohol here now too! Srsly. If you haven’t been here before, do stop by — it’s a local business worth supporting and worth it to stop for lunch!

We go here every couple of weeks and it’s always great. Lots of vegetarian options. My new fave is the fiesta wrap with black beans, corn salsa, and cream cheese. They also have local beers from Perrin and Brewery Vivant. Arrive early for dinner on Thursdays as that is open mic night and is always packed. I love coming here to warm up during the annual Christmas Walk. This place has been around since I was in high school and it just gets better every year.

One of the great cafes I ever had the chance to stop by. When I was a merchandiser I was taken as far as Cedar Rapids, to Hesperia. On that route, I would often stop in to this café on the main stretch in Newaygo. I highly suggest any of the sandwiches, I was particularly fond of the Thanksgiving Dinner sandwich. I must-try for people in the area.

This place seems to get better and better every time I visit. Originally from Newaygo, I remember when this place opened for business in the late 90s. It has always been a warm and inviting place. The drinks are made flawlessly and honestly have never had anything I didn’t like. Being from a larger city now, I tend to visit Starbucks a lot, but it does not compare with River Stop Café. The service is amazing and personable, the drinks are delicious, and the food is great. The pastry case next to the counter gets me every time. They’re just sooo delicious. If you’re in the Newaygo area this is the place to get your coffee fix.

I hate that this place is 200 miles away. I’m not a coffee drinker but their other drinks are so good and all of their food is quite delicious. Some of the best sandwiches this side of Zingerman’s Deli. From my coffee drinking family I’ve heard the coffee is outstanding. The ambiance and décor is just beautiful. Was an old bank originally.

The food is very very good. We have a family of five with three picky eaters, and everybody was pleased. There are some complaints. The portions are very very small for the price which is relatively high for sandwiches. The service was also dreadfully slow and we were forgotten about and had to stop at the front counter to ask what the deal was. Aside from that, the ambience was very cozy, and as I mentioned, the food was outstanding.

I have commented on this place before but every experience here is a good one. I had a cup of Organic Brazillian followed by the house Columbian. They are both full of body and flavor. I was welcomed by Tyler and later brought a delicious«burnt cookie» that was passed to me for free as a «biscotti». Still Highly Recommended!

More and more small towns seem like they’re getting modern high quality cafes like this one these days. That’s a good thing. In a cool old building in downtown Newaygo, River Stop has free wifi(score!) and a great menu… even offering a separate vegetarian menu board with many tasty looking selections. I hope this place sticks around a long time, not just for me, but for folks in small towns like this everywhere!

This coffee shop should be a model of what coffee shops should be. ITISTHATCOOL! A group of friends have an annual bicycle ride from Detroit to Silver Lake. This will be the 4th year we will be doing the ride and let me tell you one of the highlights of the trip is River Stop. Newaygo is our last campsite and to start the day off with amazing coffee and a tasty breakfast is a great way to finish the last 50 miles or so. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. They let 5 dirty, smelly guys in their coffee shop and we are lucky to have found this place.
