During high school, I attended many services at UUFN as well as their youth group meetings. I enjoy that Unitarian Universalism doesn’t tell you what to believe. Rather, it encourages you to find the spiritual path that best suits you. If you’re not familiar with UUism, they accept people from all religions or spiritual beliefs, and many members are athiests. The belief is simply to be good and accept all people. Social justice and acceptance is a very important aspect in this congregation and the majority of the members are very progressive/​liberal.
I personally never continued going because I am simply not a church/​service going type. Many of the services were a bit too dry and vague, at least for me. I also agree with Maris in that I wished there was more diversity in race/​ethnicity. However, I do much prefer this congregation as opposed to the one in Mill Creek/​Pike Creek, which I also attended briefly but left after a member made a comment in poor taste and it was excused.
I would say UUFN is excellent if you are looking for a fellowship that is progressive and open minded! It is also perfect for inter-​faith couples.

As a child, I would attend a local Unity Church with my family. My parents wanted me to follow a spiritual path that believed in equality and acceptance for all people. I will not attend any place of worship that does not accept everyone or bashes other religions. That is the reason; I decided to attend the Unitarian Universalist church. They are a very open-​minded church that welcomes everyone.
Honestly, I have not attended any Sunday services in over a decade. I know I am not the church goer type. My religion is compassion and kindness; however, I would like to attend a place with people that share my similar thoughts and values about the world and life. Today I arrived here and a gentleman in the front greeted me and handed me a pamphlet. A very nice couple also greeted me and invited me to sit with them and their family. I appreciated the very kind gesture. The church members are very nice people.
During the service they invited people to share their current life situations and light a candle. I think it was very nice to see people so open. They had a guest speaker, I enjoyed listening to him. In addition, they sang many songs. Please forgive me for saying, but I was bored by the songs. Yes, the songs had a beautiful message however; the music was boring and outdated. Young people want to hear a beat to keep them awake.
They have children and teenagers members but most of the members are experienced people. I love older people because of their knowledge and wisdom. I feel in order to keep these members through adulthood they need to be more current. It is a great place for a young adult to be part of because they are involved in social justice and humanitarian efforts. I think what they are doing is wonderful; however, I would like to see more young adults and diversity of races.
