I got a suit here for $ 170 AND I was able to pick it up the next day after alterations.
Here’s the secret. When you go to a department store, there’s two kinds of suits. One has a price tag of over $ 1000, the other is priced around $ 500. The $ 1000+ suits are almost never on sale, and when they are, it’s only 10−15% off. The $ 500 suits can be found on sale for $ 200 with pretty decent frequency. Why is that?
It’s because the expensive suits are made of quality materials and superior construction, meaning they truly are worth $ 1000+. The other suits are designed by the same people, but they use inferior cloth and are made in a factory. Sometimes the suits are good for everyday use/​work. Other times they just look nice but feel really cheap. Either way, the department stores get those suits for CHEAP and mark it up to $ 500. They get those suits so cheap that they can still mark it down to $ 200 and make good money.
So at a smaller shop like this, the prices will always beat the regular department store prices, and their sale prices beat the department store price. However, you need to do some shopping here. Unlike the department stores, not everything is good looking. There are a few items that range from «used car salesman» to Don Cherry. Also, you would have a better time buying shirts at a Marshall’s or TJ Max. But the price was good, the turnaround time on the alterations was lightning fast and I didn’t get upsold.
