History

Established in 1958.

One of my favorite breakfast places around! I have loved this place for years and years but recently they have really stepped their menu game up. Special menus and themes add more food for me to fall in love with. I have tried something new the last 2 times I went in — when before I always had a go-​to (potato pancakes). First I had an omelet with tater tots inside of it — so amazingly delicious that I am hungry now just writing this ! Next time I had the pancake dippers — yummy and an amazing idea that I immediately tried to recreate at home ! Great place to go for breakfast !

Stopped in for coffee and pie. We had Derek as our server and he was awesome. He was attentive and had a great attitude. Perkins pies are consistently delicious. Coffee was fresh and they have is cups to go. Can’t beat great food and outstanding service.

This is a diner. The wait staff is diner-​ish. The décor is diner-​ish and dated. The food is very simple but big portions, tasty and very inexpensive. If you go in expecting upscale, you will be disappointed. If you are hungry and don’t mind loud families and staff, this will be a good place to go.

The food is very good, but the atmosphere is inferior compared to some of its competitors (Cracker Barrel or Crossroads). The best place to sit is off to the left of the counter– it’s secluded and has a cool view of the parking lot. I always order the tremendous twelve, which is huge and very satisfying. They also have good looking pastries, but I rarely ever get them. Overall, a nice place to go to but I would stick to the breakfast items– I find the dinner choices are slim and unsatisfying.

Perkins is a gem. I’ve never had an entrée I didn’t enjoy. As one review put it, it’s ihop on steroids, And unlike IHOP the food always tastes fresh. It’s the closest thing to grandmas cooking you’ll get as far as breakfast goes. I highly recommend trying their muffins, my favorite is the lemon poppyseed. For the price and quality it’s definitely worth a try!

This place is crazy busy every morning because it is so cheap and they have everything you want. I didn’t believe that I would have trouble at 10.30 on a Tuesday morning getting a seat here but I did.
The average age of the customer is 70.
I imagine there is really no point in saying anything should be different about this place as it is obviously 100% doing fine. But that being said wouldn’t it be nice if they replaced the carpet, painted the walls and maybe considered new furniture.
The pancakes were pretty excellent.
I like that I got three eggs. The breakfast sausages were better tasting than most.

The French toast and pancakes were very delicious! The menu has different options but IHOP has more. For example, for the pancakes the options were only blueberry and plain. So if you are craving special pancakes this might be the place to go. There was an interesting smell coming from the front of restaurant, not really sure what it was.

So it’s Tuesday at 9 AM and this place is packed. Ridiculous, can’t even find a spot in the parking lot. Everyone was great and the place was nice and the food was Perkins, meaning always pretty decent. Only reason the place didn’t get a 4 star is because they need to do something about their restrooms, ten scented sticks will not cover up what is happening in that place. Emoticon scared face.

The food is mediocre at best, however, we often choose Perkins because they’re able to accommodate larger groups. It was a VERY busy day, so I understood that it would be a very long wait. No problem! We happily waited for well over an hour, only to be seated at one table for eight and one table for two. They should have just told us that they couldn’t accommodate a group of ten, or told us that we would be seated separately. Very disappointing experience. I wish I could award it zero stars.

No other breakfast place could ever compare to Perkins. Imagine IHOP on steroids, but with a shitload of old people. Fast and friendly service, big menu, big portions, very low price. I’ve been here a few times and I can tell you it’s in my top 10.
My partner and I each grabbed a huge breakfast here this morning for only $ 20 — commodities included pancakes, meats, eggs, and hashbrowns for both. Such variety, and the bakery menu is ever-​changing… the strawberry rhubarb pie they offer during the spring and summer is so good! The food is great, and I love the sausage links — crispy and salty on the outside, moist on the inside. I always look forward to them, and I always love coming here… I leave happy every time!
By the way… this location is NOT the one that someone died of tainted pancakes at. Watch out for that one in Avondale, PA.

Above average food with reasonable prices, but I was horrified at what I saw when I went into the bathroom. An employee, around the age of twenty, was snorting cocaine at the sink. I was staring at him as he turned around towards me but he didn’t even acknowledge that what he was doing in the presence of a customer was disturbing. He turned back around and kept on doing cocaine. I will not be back again.

Giving three stars because the service was quick and staff was friendly, however, the Sausage and Biscuits I ordered really deserved one star. The sausage gravy was served in a cup on the side and was the consistency of oatmeal. It was so thick and served slightly warm. On the flip side, the biscuits were flaky and nice. The eggs were thin and floppy and lacking in salt. The potatoes were the only star on the plate. Definitely walked away disappointed.

Under the new management of jimmy this place leaves a lot to be desired. This used to be one of my favorite family restaurants that I have been to many times over the years. The staff was very loud and was speaking inappropriately which was not pleasant at all for any of the guests including my two year old daughter to hear. The only highlights of the place is that the food was good for the price as usual and Tyler our server who seemed to be the only one doing his job did well. I really hope this place turns around back to how it used to be but as you will see when you visit here the management is reflected in the staff.

This Perkins is in a strip mall off Capitol Trail. Dining area and restroom seemed clean and the service was okay. The menu has extensive breakfast selections, but not so many items for lunch and dinner. So I actually had breakfast for dinner, although the Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Platter was heavy enough to qualify as a dinner. Anyway, the restaurant is about standard for a chain restaurant in most respects but breakfast is exceptional.

There are many things about Newark, Delaware that made me miss good ol’ NYC. And although the University of Delaware is super fun, you can’t find a slice of pizza at 3am, there are no cabs for you to take once it starts raining, and the streets are empty and silent after midnight. But alas, Newark did something right, and that something is Perkins Restaurant. Yes, it is diner-​esque, but much more family-​oriented and upscale. For a late breakfast one weekend while visiting a dear friend, I was able to get an omelet with a side of three pancakes for only 7 bucks. Also, my meal came with the most INCREDIBLE breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Seriously, they were divine and alone are worth three stars. I had to knock of a star for the sub-​par coffee and the waitress was a little unavailable, but Perkins was fabulous otherwise. I would definitely make my way over there again whenever I was back in DE.
P. S. Order the peanut butter pie, because it’s just too good for words.
