I took my wedding gown here for a consult and never went back. I needed about an inch taken in from the waist and hip of the gown and needed it hemmed. I was told that the dress could not be hemmed because of the intricate lace pattern and that I would have to make myself 6 inches taller with shoes all night to fit the dress. I was then told that taking the gown in that inch would cost almost $ 400. I took my dress someplace else and they did an AMAZING job of hemming and taking it in, and it cost a fraction of what I was quoted at Newark Alterations and designs. So I cannot speak for the actual skill of the seamstress, but I would NOT recommend bringing anything complex here (such as anything lace) and I would expect to pay much more than you would someplace else.

I searched for places to take my wedding dress in because I had lost nearly 30 lbs since the time I purchased the dress and it was way too big on me. I didn’t want to take the dress back to Davids Bridal for fear that it would cost a fortune to alter. I found Mary and I’m so glad I did. She was so sweet and understanding and you can tell she knows draping and fit well.
She took my all-​lace wedding dress down nearly 3 sizes and really wanted to make sure I was happy. I’m not usually a picky person, but when I went into what I thought would be my last fitting, I had lost more weight and the alterations she had done were still too big – I swear I was eating throughout this whole process, but planning for a West Coast wedding from the East Coast was getting stressful! After a few days if agonizing over it, I called Mary back and she was more than happy to re-​do the alteration until I was happy with it.
She is such a doll and the shop is so cute! I’ve already had her take in another dress and plan to go back for other alterations. Thank you!

This is a great little shop tucked away off main street. I just took a bridesmaid dress there that needed major alterations and she did a fantastic job. Very professional and great quality work– you can tell she really knows what she is doing!

I needed a few garments altered and/​or repaired, and this adorable little shop did a great job. Very friendly, kind service and a cute atmosphere — so much nicer than your typical ‘change your clothes in a cramped, icky cubicle’ at a dry cleaners. Prices were reasonable and the work is good quality (they even guarantee their work if you need it redone someday).
