I had Amy as my instructor, she was awesome and really helped me worked on my weak areas. She was very patient and encouraging. I really liked going to this studio, clean and well maintained, if only I haven’t relocated to the city I would’ve definitely still be going.

Before I moved, I did a pro-con list for why I should move(yeah, I’m THAT nerd). About half of my list on the cons section, in all caps, was«I’LLHAVETOLEAVEMMC!!» It took me a while find this studio. I found many PILATES studios to be too centralized on yoga. To me, yoga and Pilates are completely different. I did private sessions for several years with Roberta. She made everything fun and she was able to target specific issues of mine. It was like working out with a BFF. I decided to join some classes. I was a bit intimidated because it seemed like everyone knew each other and I didn’t want to feel like the party pooper. But when I joined the classes, everyone was extremely friendly and they had no judgement. Everyone is there to have fun and work out. I’ve also worked with Ineke and Gail. Both are extremely friendly and informative. Everyone here, instructors and clients, are helpful, fun, dedicated and down to earth(also entertaining)!

I started the instructor training program at Mindful Movement Collective in January 2012 and I had a great experience with all of the courses and instructors. Everything was explained and demonstrated really well and all of the instructors are knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve also taken private sessions from a few of the different instructors at the studio and I’ve never been disappointed with their attention to detail, friendliness, and well rounded workouts. The new location is definitely great move too.

After taking Pilates classes all over the country, I am sooo grateful to have superb Mindful Movement as my home base. The state-of-the-art facilities are well maintained with new equipment being added all the time. The space is bright and airy with good visibility throughout the workout area. It’s impossible to give enough praise to the instructors I’ve used as they are top of the top. With specific body challenges, I love the personal attention I get, whether i’m in a group class or private lesson.

I was lucky enough to get instruction from Jenny a couple of years ago. She did a great job of understanding my specific needs and crafting a program tuned to me personally. More recently I wanted to resume Pilates, but decided to go to a place right next to my work location, for convenience. That just emphasized how exceptional Jenny is. This more«convenient» alternative was no alternative at all. Jenny’s the real deal.

I started my first Pilates session with Ineke almost a year and a half ago. I had a knee replacement and needed an alternative to a traditional anaerobic workout. After my first session I was able to move and walk better. Since then I have had numerous setbacks with my knee but continued with my rehab and therapy with Ineke and I can finally say I am going back to work! Ineke is a wonderful instructor who is knowledgeable, patient, and has a way of explaining the exercises and principles of Pilates that I could never have imagined. Mindful Movement Collective Pilates is top notch and their new location is so inviting and professional. I would recommend them to everyone! Mark M.

Annamae recommended Mindful Movement Collective based on great reviews when I mentioned I have a great concern with my lower back — my Chiropractor informed that I need to strengthen my core. We both started last quarter 2013. We are having a great time learning the proper mechanics of Pilates. John Moody gauges the proper stretches for both of us. Ineke & John are very considerate of newbies — awesome.

I started out taking Pilates with Gail at a Fremont gym, first large group mat, then on the reformer. I moved to Mindful Movement as soon as it opened at its first location in Newark, behind the lumber yard. I have enjoyed going there all these years — not sure how long now! I still take classes mainly with Gail, though I like the other instructors. I have made wonderful friends in my classes and we encourage each other to keep trying. Gail manages to have something new at every class — I have no idea how she does it. Thanks to Pilates, even though I am now 60, quite overweight, and have old back injuries, I don’t have problems with my back or my neck — I used to. Pilates is a combination of strengthening exercises and flexibility exercises. I laughed when one of my co-workers said it must be wonderful to do all that stretching. It looks easy, but if it is easy, you are not doing it correctly! Almost everyone groans at some point — but we keep coming back for more. I really enjoy the Wednesday night jump board class, which is a great cardio workout. The atmosphere at Mindful Movement is always pleasant and fun. There is no gossiping about other clients, or other instructors. The equipment is kept clean and in repair — Ineke, the owner, buys the best to start out with. Ineke and Gail go for advanced training in Toronto every year and they are certified to train instructors. They are the best. I love going here and consider it to be a necessity to stay strong and flexible as I get older.
