Wow, the food is out of this world. I got the new York gyro and it was amazing. This place is a diamond in the rough. OK that was my lunch review and I just had dinner there, yes in the same day. This time I went with number 27 the lamb chops OMG. This place is amazing, they are extremely friendly and the food is perfect. The only thing that I don’t like about this place is, I live in Ohio so the food I thought was good back home is not even close to this. It was so good I almost wish I didn’t eat here because nothing back home is even close. Do yourself a favor and try it you’ll be hooked like me.

This place was exactly what I wanted it to be and then some! The shop was active with just two guys behind the counter pumping out meals. We ordered, sat and were served quickly considering the constant ring of their phone. I had the Lamb Gyro platter which was incredibly tender meat with a fresh pita and delicious sauce. Hot sauce on the table for self indulged spice level worked out well. The hummus was ridiculous. It must have been made to order. Garlicky and fresh we were fighting over the last bread swipe in the bowl. So good. My friend had the Falafel Shashlik. Nailed it. Delightful. I cannot wait to go back and get the Shaslik with meat. Great spot to grab delicious Kabob in a slightly weird location. Good news is that it is 90 seconds off of 95 so road-tip grub is sorted from now on.

Wow what a great lamb gyro. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the three different sauces that you can use on the side. I had a falafel too and it was honestly just above average. More crunchy and tough than I prefer.

Really good Greek takeout food. We had the chicken kofta and lamb gyros. Amazing portions. Chicken kofta was served with nice flavored rice and 2 sauces. Chicken was slightly less than the quantity of rice in my opinion but hubby felt it was perfect. Their tzaziki sauce is to die for. So creamy and yum. Now coming to lamb gyros, I think they were much much better than a lot of gyros I’ve had in NYC. The lamb was perfectly cooked, juicy and there was so much of it in my pita. It was like Christmas all over again. Prices are pretty reasonable. We got a nice meal for 2 for just a little more than $ 20. Will definitely keep visiting this place.

This is the kind of place I am always looking for when I travel, it is great we have one in Newark. I only discovered the place last year, have been 5 or 6 times — each time was excellent. The falafel is very good and is what got me to go at first… The kebabs are what bring me back now, they are incredible(so are the rice and the sauces that come with them). Prices are great, staff are friendly, food is so good. If you like Afghan kebabs, shawarma, falafel, or any of that sort of thing you should stop in and try it.

Oh boy what a treat this was! I don’t know what it is but when it comes to words like«kabob, schwarma, falafel and gyro» my heart and brain become one… it’s like I was programmed to love this food from birth. It Could be because my great ancestors came from the Middle East? Or because it’s just delicious !! Ok so let me get this fact out of the way… The décor and atmosphere are lacking. But I kind of like it that way. Sometimes a great restaurant doesn’t need décor to draw in customers. Sometimes it only needs great food and that’s what this place has. I ordered #16 and loved every bite of my chicken, beef and kofta kabobs. The rice was equally exceptional. My wife’s gyro was heavenly plus they make their own gyro meat here !!! Chicken, lamb and beef !!! Now here’s where my five stars comes in… when I went to use the bathroom I had to walk through the kitchen. The place is spotless. It’s just very clean and I really respected that aspect of gyro kabob house. Which is why I’m coming back next week from Baltimore– hungry and craving!

This place is great… best gyro I have yet to have. I cannot review the other items on the menu I ALWAYS go with #28 Lamb Gyro with rice and it never disappoints. Also customer service is excellent.

Everyone wants to know a secret restaurant that doesn’t look all that pretty on the outside but holds a treasure within. This is that place. I never had a bad meal here. One week, I ate here 4 times. It is that good, and the prices are great for what you get. Call ahead for pick up, or hang out and absorb the atmosphere. This is definitely a place that needs to be tried. My new favorite is the New York style gyro(#3). It is a cut up gyro on a bed of rice with a salad on the side. It is excellent!

WOW! All around great experience, lamb gyro and breaded mushrooms with their white sauce, out of this world! Extremely friendly also. I took a chance based on previous reviews and bought an extra container of the sauce, glad I did. Agree with the hole in the wall and only 4 spots right on the main hwy but worth every bit of it

The food was amazing as were the sauces. It is a bit of a hole in the wall but clean. Really great afghan style food. Even the fries were cooked well. There is a bathroom they let let you use but it is through the kitchen which feels like you are being intrusive. The staff couldn’t be nicer. Also only about 2 – 3 minutes off of 95 at christiana. A gem!

I had a beef gyro for lunch and packed some falafel, lamb kebabs and beef kofta go to. Meat was still juicy and tender even after re-heating. Falafel had nice texture and flavor. This place deserves more recognition. Great ethnic food in Newark.

Was not expecting much from this place when I drove up. I shouldn’t have judged a book by its cover because this is by far the best kebob I’ve eaten in most of PA and DE. Since trying this place, I have been going once a week despite living over 30 mins away. The meat melts in your mouth and rice is so tasty. Love it!

I frequent this place more than any other in Newark. Staff is always friendly and polite. They keep their grill remarkably clean, as well as the small dining room itself. While their menu is diverse, I always end up getting the beef or lamb gyro. «White Sauce» is to die for, and thankfully they’re now selling portions big enough to take home. Don’t overlook this great go-to for a quick, clean, and filling meal for about $ 10. Grab a piece of baklava on the way out!

Parking is as inconvenient as it can be. Gyro was edible. Lamb Chop was okay. Overall, edible but not great. Better nearby places to try…

I know this place gets a ton of great reviews, and I have to admit I’m not as familiar with Afghani food as I am with other comparable Mediterranean/Middle Eastern foods… That said, I thought this place was good. It didn’t blow my mind, I wouldn’t rush to go back, but it did provide a decent meal. I thought the portion sizes were a little on the small side. The hummus was definitely not what I am used to in terms of what you’d get at a Greek/Turkish/Lebanese place but was decent but very garlicy. My favorite food here was the garbanzo beans — the sauce was very flavorful and had an interesting taste… definitely a must try if you are a bean fan!

Best middle eastern food in Delaware. Been there several times Lamb shishlik and chicken over rice are the best.

Really good food at a fair price. You will not find a better lamb gyro in the area. The staff is friendly and efficient and make you feel welcomed. Don’t be discouraged by the parking. There are only a few spots out front and it is very tight. If you follow the small side road to the left of the building it leads to the back. There are a few more spots back there with a way out to Harmony Rd.

I am a firm believer in giving honest feedback, good or bad, as I appreciate the time others take to give insight on their experiences. The food at The Kebab House is decent, but extremely inconsistent. It is not true Afghani cuisine but close enough. The biggest disappointment was after a good amount of take out orders from them, we realized how chauvinistic the owners and family employees are– especially to women. Customer service is beyond poor, to the point that I feel I needed to warn others. It’s very sad, but the owners/family are extremely rude and curt in the way they speak with people –and the attitude«if you don’t like it, leave» is something I witnessed with another customer and I was appalled. I can’t endorse a place simply for decent food when they cannot respect others. We will not be going back. **If you want excellent kebabs, gyros and Middle Eastern food, Oasis Restaurant in Salem Village Square(very close by in Newark, DE) — would highly recommend!(And I have no affiliation to either restaurant) :)

I love this place. If I’m not currently the duchess, I usually am. Convenient location, super friendly workers, really good food. The only thing I have ever had that I didn’t like was once when they ran out of chicken cheesesteak and used cut up chicken breast. A bit too gourmet for my palate I Want the cheesesteak meat. Anyhow– highly recommend the shishlik, the gyros are awesome for a beginner who wants to just try out fast Afghani food. Make sure you load up on their white sauce regardless of what you get– it’s their crème de la crème. We have had trays of food for parties, always exactly as expected. I just have not had a bad experiance here. The size of the dining area is a little annoying on a busy day, I think they have 4 total tables to sit at. That’s about it. I highly recommend this joint.
