We came here on Friday before the big snow storm with my family to celebrate my fiancé birthday. It was a surprise dinner that I had planned. We got there and of course no parking what so ever to be found. Newark Ironbound is busy as is, but on a Friday night that town is busy. The parking lot was busy because the restaurant is also hosts parties and there were two parties that night. Plus the restaurant was opened so it made it ultra busy to find parking. They had set out a table for 12 of us because it was a surprise dinner. Everything went well. I ordered the Salmon with rice and veggies. It was really good. My Fiancé had the Shrimp with rice. It was a Pallea style rice. The Sangria was so good, I think i could have drank that whole pitcher, but i had to share. The staff did a good job in coming out to sing happy birthday to her. They brought out a delicious Tiramisu. We had an amazing time.

Whether you eat in the take out area or the dinning hall, food is delicious. I’ve eaten the lobster with crab stuffing and always good, also have had the short ribs and never disappoints. Shrimp in garlic sauce always tastes fresh and even though it’s an appetizer I usually have as an entrée because it’s so much.(good to share). As for the sangria no complaints, always satisfying! The service is always great and they’re always accommodating if there’s a big party.

Hands down best Portugese food i have ever tried. Their combo #2 is so amazing. The short ribs, picañha salad and sangrias are a great way to fill yourself up and take a siesta afterwards.

Came here again with the family after a long day at work! I have to say it never fails to come here! They serve your food(everything is perfect) and give you enough time to eat and chat before asking to remove anything! The staff doesn’t always speak English but they try their hardest to please you(my favorite part)! I wouldn’t add anything else to this place it’s comfy, great food and great service!

Underwhelming. Had been here many years before and it was like a trip to Portugal. This time, while the food was adequate to good this time, the ambience was missing and the menu had taken a turn away from Portuguese cuisine. There are better choices in the Ironbound.

The fried calamari excellent. The rest not so good. Freezer burn, not fresh, even the Paella not seasoned properly, all on the bottom. Service was very good and they were apologetic but should never have been that bad to begin with.

We used that Groupon for 2 and loved the food and the service. The Octopus appetizer was exceptional — chunks of braised and succulent octopus in a paprika garlic sauce. It was SOOOGOOD… lots of pepper and garlic flavor without any heat. My friend’s T-Bone Steak was done right. Crispy on the outside and juicey on the inside. My Salted Cod was just good but not outstanding like the other two dishes. It was a bit dry at the thinner sections. Those on a low salt diet should not get this dish. Casa Seabra was very accommodating and allowed us to swap the red wine for soft-drinks and the espresso for tea and decaf. The portions are HUGE. The octopus is twice the size of an appetizer at another Ironbound restaurant and the entrees can easily feed two people. The service was professional and the waitstaff did not make us feel like second-class citizens just because we used Groupon. We appreciated that as most restaurants offer Groupons but treat their customers like second-class citizens. Both my friend and I loved the food and will be coming back for more.

Groupon in hand(on my iPhone) I made a last minute reservation for 7:30 on a Fri. night. Walking in 30 minutes later, we thought we were in the wrong restaurant. Casa Seabra was completely empty, save for a single table in the corner. The waiter explained, in somewhat difficult to understand English, that they draw much large crowds at lunchtime. We elected to stay, and I’m glad we did. The Portugese Bread was hot & tasty. The Red Sangria was fruity & delicious, and not overwhelmingly sweet. And all of our dishes were delicious, and plentiful. I ordered the 20 oz. Filet Mignon w/a Mushroom Sauce, Medium Rare, which was prepared just right. It was buttery tender, and came with a small side of lukewarm French Fries(eh!) and a portion of undercooked Broccoli Rabe. My three fellow diners had Sea Bass, Jumbo Prawns, and the single largest order of Chicken Parmigiana & Spaghetti that I have ever seen in my entire life! All of us enjoyed our meals. The Molten Chocolate Cake w/a small scoop of vanilla ice cream was nothing special, But they reluctantly accepted my Groupon after a brief discussion, because I had not«announced» my Groupon to our waiter before the meal. Woe is me! Anyway, the service was attentive, the food was quite good, and we left a nice tip. And the Groupon made our dinner an absolute bargain. So, we will most likely return to Casa Seabra.

This restaurant deserves a six star rating. We came in with a Groupon deal for 2 but our services were not discounted at all. Exquisite and elegant, this restaurant has the ambience that you want to dine in for your special event. Food and service are excellent. The waiter changed our plates after appetizer even they were clean and unused. I really enjoyed the clams on a half shell, so fresh and yummy. We ordered two Paelhas, one seafood and one with meats. At the price of $ 21, both of them have lobsters. Can’t say more great things about this restaurant. And another added bonus is: there is a parking lot across street, so you don’t need to worry about your car while enjoying your food! Last, I want to give Groupon a five star for having such a great deal!

I love the Ironbound, and I love trying new Portuguese restaurants. After purchasing a Groupon for 4, I went last night with 4 of my friends, so there were 5 of us total. I called and made a reservation for 5 with Groupon, and when we arrived, our server(a woman who seemed to be a manager) immediately made a big deal that the Groupon was for 4(OK, we get that, Portuguese restaurants always have large portions, and we are ordering extra drinks, what is the problem??) She was extremely rude to us and made the experience uncomfortable. There was also a bit of a language barrier, and it was uncertain what it was exactly she wanted us to do. Usually when we go to other Portuguese restaurants in the Ironbound, the waitstaff would encourage sharing appetizers and entrees because of the large portions. I have never experienced rude and disdainful service at a Portuguese restaurant. Ever. So I am shocked, as well as insulted. In any case, she asked who the 5th person not a part of the Groupon was, so I said I would be the 5th extra person. So in addition to the Groupon deal, we ordered 2 pitchers of sangria – the second was much stronger and better than the first – and an extra appetizer. It appeared she would have preferred me order an extra entrée – when the entrees came out, she purposely did not replace my plate until I asked, to which she rolled her eyes. It seemed she was very against us sharing food/family-style as she seemed to have wanted each entrée specifically for one person only. She also did not give us a lobster cracker or bowls for shells until I asked(after trying to get someone’s attention for much too long), though I am not sure if it was on purpose or because of the busy restaurant and lack of staff. Our experience was only tolerable because we were drinking, the food was good, and many times, we had to get the bartender or other waitstaff help us(who were very nice and probably under-appreciated). I will say the food we ordered was pretty good, but I am too upset about the service to give this more than 1 star. For appetizers, we got the octopus(excellent – my favorite), clams in garlic sauce(excellent), chorizo in rum(great). For our entrees, we ordered the paella marhinera(OK), fillet mignon, rare(friends really enjoyed it), orange roughy(my friends loved it, I thought it was OK), veal chops, medium rare(we didn’t really care for it). As per usual at a Portuguese restaurant, the portions were huge, and we couldn’t finish half of it. Good luck to the rest of you with Groupons. Get the octopus + clams in garlic for appetizers, get really drunk, and try not to let the terrible service ruin your evening. *edited to 2 stars because my friends insisted, as they did really enjoy the food.*

We are a family of four and were very excited by the recent 4 course Groupon offer, thinking it would be a great final dinner before my sister returned to California to finish her undergraduate. Unfortunately the service we received was much less than subpar. Our entrees took a very long time to arrive, and none of the food was sufficiently cooked when it did. My mother and I’s steaks were more rare than medium, and my sister’s lobster(from the paella) was still cold in the middle. Her clams hadn’t cooked long enough to open, and the scallops were still uncooked in the middle. They brought out additional paella and offered extra desserts, but half of the dessert menu wasn’t available. When we finally picked desserts, they too were forgotten and another server brought them out after we followed up. Tables that were seated after us had finished eating and talking by the time our desserts arrived. 3 hours after we sat down, we left a tip on the table because we didn’t have any patience left to wait for the bill. There was a lot of potential, but poor service makes it hard to recommend this place.

This restaurant only receives a 3 star rating because their food is good but not great and their service is good but not great as well. After their remodel a couple of years ago, the atmosphere has been changed and looks absolutely amazing but the food is just ‘ok’ and the service is just ‘ok’. My parents who are from Portugal like to come here on a Friday or Saturday night. Not a place I would honestly pick amongst the other restaurants in Newark but its ‘ok’ in my opinon. I normally get their steak when I go there.

I believe they changed their name as they used to be called Mediterranean Manor. Last year I came here for a retirement dinner in one of the banquet rooms upstairs. While the outside and inside is beautifully done and decorated with a great atmosphere the food left much to be desired. First of all, we didn’t get enough appetizers per table and you couldn’t have more than one piece of anything or the other person couldn’t try it at all. The food itself was also not memorable. So went there last week with family to check out their banquet rooms(still gorgeous) and while there had their sangria and calamari. Ugh. Something wrong with this sangria — can’t place what’s wrong and maybe it was the person mixing it up that got it wrong but it was too sweet and overall just not enjoyable. The calamari was oily, heavily breaded and chewy.

Just had dinner here today with a group of friends! This is definitely my kind of eatery. The place is very authentic and serves very fresh seafood and meats. There was a large party going on when we arrived, and therefore, they had an abundance of delicious roast suckling pig! Who can complain about that? For the appetizer, I ordered an octopus salad that came with huge octopus chunks over a delicious vinaigrette. Simply delicious! Next, I ordered the grilled assortment of meats, which was tasty beyond any words I could type. For dessert, I ordered a custard cup with banana ice cream(it originally came with cinnamon ice cream, but I’m not a fan). The meal was extraordinary, the atmosphere was very inviting, the waiter was friendly and charming! Newark may have a bad rap, but it certainly has a few bright spots, one of which is Casa Seabra, a delicious star in a sea of black. The authenticity really makes this place!

On the way back to Newark Airport, my college roommate saw my Trippit and called me up to see if I wanted to grab dinner. Craving good Portugese, we ended up at this jewel in the middle of a community in transition. Casa Seabra boasts authentic Portugese food and they are definitely not lying. From great seafood to excellent BBQ, the place shines with a taste of LIsbon and the coastal communities of Estoril and Cascais. For meat fans the Rodizio is a must. Rodizio is the famous meats on a skewer grilled at you table. Cuts include: Fraldinha — Skirt Steak Costela de porco — Spare Ribs Peru com bacon — Turkey bacon Filet Mignon Costela de vaca — Beef short ribs Picanha — Top Sirloin It’s all you can eat and comes with black beans and awsome fried bananas. For dessert must do the Chocolate Mousse and Rice pudding. The mousse is ultra thick portugese style and ultra rich. Cap it all off with a Colheita(7 year amber Port) and you got a complete meal! Next stop: the seafood on the next trip!
