Byblos offers delicious, authentic Lebanese food at an incredibly affordable price. Their falafel is actually the best falafel I have ever tasted. For $ 7, the falafel platter comes with enough food for dinner and lunch the following day. I almost always eat it all at once though, even when I am full halfway through, simply because it tastes THAT good. Dishes that I eat all the time taste surprisingly unique at Byblos. This is a testament to how much thought goes into the cuisine at Byblos. Even hummus, a staple in my vegan diet, tastes special there. Though I have not tried any of their meat dishes, my friends have all raved about them. I live just a few blocks away from Byblos, and I now frequent the restaurant multiple times each week. It is a family owned spot, and so the atmosphere is very cozy. No, the décor is not fancy. But the place is spacious and comfortable. It is also BYOB. Throughout the week I usually order takeout from Byblos, but I also love coming by some nights with friends and a bottle of wine. Sometimes the owner gives us complimentary baklava at the end of the meal. In sum, Byblos is a much-needed breath of fresh air in the Ironbound. The food is DELICIOUS, the prices are affordable, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The place has helped to make the Ironbound feel like home to me. I strongly recommend Byblos to anyone looking for affordable, authentic food, either for takeout or dine-in.

The atmosphere was sort of like a café you might find in a foreign country. There was a TV playing a Lebanese soap opera. The food is all prepared fresh and the young lady who served us was attentive and pleasant. My daughter got the hummus which was an amazing serving with pita and olives for just $ 4. She told me it tasted very good. I got a Kefta kabob which came with flat bread, grilled vegetables and a tasty rice pilaf. The serving size was large enough for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I am a fan of good Mediterranean food and I will definitely be coming back and bringing my wife with me.

Pros: Great home cooked Lebanese food. Cons: No delivery, Cash only, uninviting décor, amateur service. Yes, notice I have more cons than pros… but let’s face it, food is what counts and a restaurant option such as this in a neighborhood saturated with BBQ, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese restaurants, Byblos is a breath of fresh air. Yes, it’s family owned and although the service is well intended, it’s not very professional. No delivery is a bummer, I would buy more often if they offered this option. Cash only is a bit of an inconvenience as well, but not the end of the world. Décor is minimal in a bad way, but I understand this is a newly opened restaurant and there might not be a budget for a posh interior design yet. FOOD: To me this is what counts. And the main reason why I’m giving it 4 stars. Their food is homemade and delicious! I tried falafel, stuffed grape leafs, fatoosh, kibeh and it’s all good, we’ll presented and nicely portioned. I sure hope this place sticks around, it’s awesome to have a different and healthier option for food in the Ironbound.

Byblos is good. Glad they finally opened to the public after being like a quasi storefront social club for at least two years. Falafel sandwich is soft and juicy. Babagahnoish good, hummus even better. Only problem is these two dishes are served warm and I like them cold(raised on per packed stuff obviously). But they’re both hot because they just cooked them from raw ingredients 20 seconds before you put them in your mouth. That’s very positive. Don’t be scared they like to keep the inside lights off. but I think they should invest in a dimmer switch if they want to attract a wider clientele. Enjoy your meal.

Great new lebanese restaurant in the ironbound near penn station. Their stuffed grape leaves, fattoush salad, kefta kebab have all been excellent. Their falafel sandwich is very tasty and a steal at $ 4. The kebabs are a bit pricier but come with very delicious rice(with vermicelli) and grilled veggies. We have not eaten in since the ambience is a bit sparse but I highly recommend takeout.

Recently opened and hoping the décor gets better. It was a little dark and much too quiet. But the food was great and well-priced. It’s BYOB and cash only. We went as a group of about 8 and had a great time. Planning on coming back again. The Ironbound desperately needs more variety in its restaurants and this is a welcome addition.

This was my first time stopping here. The restaurant façade is not too inviting. It is a black building, but I was glad I stopped in. The lady inside was very friendly. I had an Arabic Coffee which was very tasteful. It had a special taste which I thought was kind of a lime taste. I asked the lady and she said it was cardamom. They grind it with the coffee and gives it a distintive taste. I also ordered ‘Fattoush” which was a salad. I’m not sure what it has in it but it was very tasty and a little spicy. It was a refreshing salad. I know for sure it had chopped cucumbers in it. The menu doesn’t say exactly what the meal is exactly. You would have to ask and find out. I also had the Spinach Pie which was pretty decent. It tasted exactly like a spinach pie, no special seasoning in it, but it tasted healthy. ;-) I definitely will come back to try something else or to atleast have the arabic coffee.
