This placed closed for business. It is a shame as it was a nice place to get together with New Jersey Devils fans.

This place should be named Brick Shitty. Bland, overpriced food. Horrible service, the bartender had a bad attitude. Too many other places around now to pull this crap. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere before/after your game or concert.

My friend that I attend games with likes Brick city and doesn’t really enjoy wandering around the Ironbound. I’ve basically acquiesced. This is my new«pre-game» meet up spot unless there are timing issues. When you walk in, it looks like a more upscale bar that you might find in Downtown JC or NYC. There’s an upstairs section, a dining area, a front bar and a back bar. They have an OK beer selection, if they have what’s listed available. They carry your usual local and regional crafts plus your Budweisers and Yuenglings. Try not to give InBev money– support local breweries. The food is edible. Not terrible, not great. It comes out quickly if you’re in a rush to get to the game. I like the chicken wrap. The crowd isn’t as young as the Loft and thus they don’t play the annoying music that goes along with the young crowd.(I am elderly, sheesh). The bar tenders are friendly and will help you find a beer if what you ask for isn’t available. I went through 5 beers on the list tonight before I found something drinkable. It happens. It’s one of the more expensive bars on the block. Pre-gaming by Pru is not for the faint of wallet. You’re better off wandering if you’re short on cash. Try some of the Portuguese spots for sangria. And the bar at Penn is super cheap if you just spent all of your money on hockey tickets. No shame in drinking with the commuters and hobos. But if you’re going to choose from the three bars sandwiched on Edison this is the best spot.

Overpriced and mediocre food. We came here before a NJ Devils game, was a fun atmosphere but the food was expensive and not very good. The nachos looked like something I could make with ingredients from the snack aisle of a supermarket. The grilled chicken pesto sandwich didn’t have much flavor. The veggie spring rolls($ 9) were pretty much 2 small spring rolls cut up into small pieces. There aren’t many options near the arena, but I’m in no rush to go back.

Came here before a Devils game for dinner. The places nearby(Dinosaur BBQ, Edison Ale House) were packed, and this place could seat us immediately. The waitress seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else than at this restaurant. They had a standard beer selection, and I had to return my first beer because the glass was dirty. I had one of hamburgers, which was satisfying enough, but I remember thinking how the bun was ENORMOUS. Probably three inches of bun(top and bottom combined) to one inch of hamburger. Needless to say, I didn’t finish it! Also, the sweet potato fries looked good, I wish I had gotten them. I’ll probably only go back if I’m going to a Devils’ game, since the location is outrageously convenient to the Prudential Center.

**I came here for a Christmas Party and I did not have the regular menu** I work nearby and my first introduction of Brick City was when my department laid off several executives and they were all hanging out at Brick City. It was their spot for all to get together and drink their new chapter. The finger food were good and I was impressed with the toasts and macaroni and cheese pieces. I only had the vegetarian options and it was very tasty. This place always seems packed every time I pass by so it must mean it’s good, right?

Decent prices, 10 dollar pitcher of domestic beer. Solid atmosphere especially when there are devils games and the bar is filled with fans. Excellent location right next prudential arena. The burger wasn’t very good and the menu is very small. Overall an Ok bar to go before devils game.

Regular sports bar; nothing special. It’s right next to the Prudential Center so I expect it normally does get traffic. I went here after work with some friends. No games were really on so it was dead. We sat near the bar but it seemed like the restaurant area was significantly nicer and definitely did not have the ambiance of a sports bar. In fact, the music was amazing. Just some playlist but it was very in tune to a «girl’s night out dancing» rather than«pre-hockey game». Strange place but in that part of Newark, there aren’t many nice places. On the same street there are a few more sports bars that I might stop by at some other day.

Yet another decent but not great bar right across from the Prudential Center. It’s a good option for drinks or a quick bite before an event but make sure to arrive early if you want to actually get a table. The beer selection is pretty good with a large variety on tap. The food is typical pub faire with mostly burgers and the like. Service is not super friendly, particularly the hostesses who will keep lying to you about the wait time before a game. Still, a good option for a bite and drinks before a game, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth waiting for.

Ah Brick City, the original bar on Edison, much respect. Great place to stop for a drink before, after, and sometimes during a Devils game. Love that they embrace the city with their name.

Brick City Bar is pretty decent pre or post-game hangout spot directly across from the Prudential Center. I stopped in briefly before the last Devils/Pens game of the season to grab a drink and the place was completely packed, even within the small bar area. No surprise there. I planned on grabbing a bite to eat too, but with so many people I knew I’d probably have to wait awhile and then be late for the puck drop. So, I ordered my pint(only $ 5.00, nice) and found a spot near the window and chatted with a fellow Pens fan, who were out in full force this night. Next time I’ll leave myself some more time to sit down and try their food.

The area surrounding the Prudential Center is undergoing a complete overhaul with new bars and restaurants. The Brick City Bar and Grill is directly across the street from«The Rock» and offers a nice meeting place before and after the game, as well as a place to grab lunch for the Newark working crowd. The interior is pretty nice. The entire restaurant is in red and black — a nice touch for the home Devils crowd. The bar area is in the front of the restaurant. It has ample seating and generally handles the crowds well. There is a second bar in the back for overflow. While the second bar is convenient, it is located in the dining area — which can make it uncomfortable for those seated for dinner. The menu offers standard bar food with a few unique items that stand apart from the regular hodge podge. However, none of these items stand out to me as noteworthy. The largest issue with Brick City is the service. I have been going here since it opened and the kitchen is always slow. If you are in a rush to get to a game, or only have an hour for lunch, you are probably better off going to Edison Ale House(which I prefer overall to Brick City) or Dinosaur BBQ. Since the Edison Ale House was built, I generally just go there. I prefer the Edison menu and the service is faster and more attentive. Brick City is not a bad choice by any stretch, but as competition has moved into the arena area, I have less of a desire to go here.

This place scored a few +1’s, but then it shot itself in the foot right afterwards. Let me explain. I wasn’t TOO hungry, and I wasn’t really in the mood for bar food either. I scoured the menu for something that would fulfill my(picky) requirements(I should also add that I’m a vegetarian, and yes, the options were scarce). Finally, I just gave up and asked the waitress if I could order the grilled cheese from the kids meal. That way, the portion size would be smaller, and so would the bill! She cheerfully responded, «Of course!» and asked me what I’d like for a side. I was thrilled to find out I could get a side of veggies instead of french fries. The veggies were definitely of the frozen variety, but I was so giddy to not be stuck with fries that I didn’t really mind. However, when I got my bill, it read«Grilled Cheese — Adult,» and it costed significantly more than the kids’ version. Now, I’ll admit that that’s fair, but it would have been nice to know about the extra charge upfront. Other than that, the service was great, timely, and upbeat. I enjoyed my food overall(I didn’t have high expectations when ordering from the kid’s menu, after all). The prices are decent, considering it’s across the street from the Prudential Center.

Awesome quesadilla! So much queso! It had a nice chipotle flavor and actually had shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Honestly a lot of the menu items looked good. Service was excellent. Place was clean and roomy. Bathroom was very nice. It has a separate room from the stall if you just want to freshen up. The only thing that kind of surprised me was how empty it was. Maybe the lack of crowds accounts for why they appeared to be closing up early. It was only about 10pm, but they were already saran-wrapping the bottles and putting away chairs. We didn’t feel like we were being hustled out the door, but we definitely didn’t feel like hanging around. If I’m ever in newark, this is where I’m going.

I came here with 2 friends before a concert at Prudential Center. The location is really convenient because it’s right across from the arena. The inside was very clean and modern looking and had a lot of TVs for sports fans. I ordered the BCBG Steak Salad($ 20), which for the price I expected much more, but it was mediocre. My friend ordered the coconut crusted shrimp which was delicious. The waitstaff here are very young and most didn’t really seem to know what was going on. My friend ordered an espresso and she gave her a blank stare. When she brought her the espresso, she didn’t bring any sugar or a spoon to stir it with. We asked for a dessert menu, and were told that dessert is not served during«event nights»(there was a Copa America game on). I think that’s foolish of them, because restaurants make so much $ off of dessert due to the high markup. I wouldn’t mind stopping in for some drinks before another even at Prudential, but the food is overpriced due to the location and the waitstaff aren’t the most competent.

Decent food, expensive for Newark but its one of the only games in town so they’ve got you. Give it a try to pregame Devils/Nets games. It’s right next to the Pru Center.

Great location to the arena! The place has a really nice atmosphere, decorated very cool. The wait staff is really nice. The food is also very good. I had the big & juicy burger. Chipotle infused meat with bacon, avocado, and fried onions. They are also fairly large burgers too. I’d say the only real problem with this place is the price. For an app, 2 sandwiches, and 4 beers it came to $ 80. That is quite a bit for a bar/restaurant in my opinion. The beers alone are $ 7 a pop. I mean are they warming you up for the reeming inside of the stadium?

Food seems consistently good, however the service is not. Waiters feel the need to take away food/drinks that aren’t finished when the restaurant is half empty really ticks me off. The food and décor is what saves me from giving this place a bad review.
