Can’t get crab any fresher! I saw them pull it out of the tank. .. . but way too expensive! Market price was $ 16.99lb and supposedly all crabs were about 1.8lbs. And of course how would I know since I didn’t see what it weighs so I don’t know if I was over charged or not. I’ve been to the boiling crab in SJ& Rays Crab Shack in Newark & neither served the crab whole, uncracked & uncleaned so it was a little awkward to deal with the lungs & «yellow» stuff. My niece ordered sweet potato fries. They were good but honestly, a little too spicy for sweet potatoes. My niece didn’t like how thick they were because they were thicker than your typical sweet potato fry but I myself didn’t have an issue with their thickness, it was just the spiciness that made it less appealing.

Hidden gem. Got the crawfish/shrimp combo, had awesome flavor, portions are hefty, and the owner is the nicest guy. Even the fries are amazing. Skip out on the other overrated places and eat here

I am so glad I found this place. This is like a small hidden gem in Newark for Cajun food. This is located in the same plaza as safeway and it can be miss easy if you not careful. Let me just get this out of my chest. I LOVE their sweet potato fries. I mean, I LOVEIT. I am always a fan of sweet potato fries but this place just blew it out of my mind. They cut their sweet potato fries into slice and fry it in tempura so it is crispy on the outside while it retain the taste of sweet potato on the inside. I also try their shrimps. Although the sauce they have might not be for everyone, I personal love their sauce. The shrimps are huge and fresh both times that I have been here. Although I wish their shrimp was not that expensive. Maybe when I went it was not in season but damn, 13 dollars a pound for shrimp. Ehh. On a plus side, they do give a good amount of shrimps. Come give this place a try to see if you like their sauce. And if you do, you just find yourself a bomb ass Cajun place located in Newark.

When we came here there weren’t many people in the restaurant so we were a little skeptical. And compare to prices in LA it’s a lil bit more pricey, but we got our shrimps they were bigger than anywhere else I’ve been to. Sauce is good and super spicy lol !!! I love it. Sausage is good too. And the owner is very friendly and he even gave us a lil discount too. Definitely come back and support him.

Idk why a lot of people don’t come here. This is one of my fave seafood places and i’ve been here multiple times. Me and my boyfriend really like the sauce. We got the combo #1. It comes with 2 lbs of crawfish or shrimp, 1 lb of clam, 2 corn, 2 potato and 4 sausages for only $ 35.99! So worth the price! We also got cajun fries.

Ordered 1 lb crab legs, ½ lb shrimp &1lb clams to go. Got something extra — a few ounches of rock. Actually a sizable stone mixed up with the clams. Not a fan of their garlic sauce. If the sauce is what gets you into this kind of places to eat then go to Ray’s Crabshack off Mowry ave. right accross Newpark mall. I ended up dipping the shrimp in a refrigerated and warmed left over sauce from Ray’s. The clams from Baby lobster are rather chewy either from being overcooked or from the quality of the seafood itself.

Hidden treasure. The quantity and quality of the food is great! If you are looking for a reasonable price for sea food, look no further. Baby Lobster is the place.

Good to go. Good service and tasty food, but pricy. They have 3 kinds combos, the cheapest one is $ 35.99,but only added two potatoes and corns.

This place had no ac on a warm day and I was sweating before I even started ordering. You’d expect that a place called baby lobster would actually have lobster but they were sold out the day before… so why not restock for today? The menu had a lunch special on the reverse side but apparently they’re not serving it anymore. So there’s no lobster, and no lunch special. Very disappointed!

This place is pretty good– I get the House Special sauce, and although the sauce does not really compare to the usual«boiling crab hype», my boyfriend and I still enjoy it. The shrimps are big and rarely over boiled which I love! Their garlic noodles is super yums too. Their fries in general need a lot of work though. The service here is great and he remembers us by always seating us at our usual table.

Great find!!! I’ve never really raved about these Cajun seafood places but this place was really delicious! Great food and great service from the owner. My boyfriend and I were really impressed with the sauce. Spicy yet not overwhelming. We tried the Combo #2, plus garlic noodle and oysters. Price is just right for the amount of food we ate! Definitely coming in again!

The meal we had here was such a fail. We came on a Saturday and there were only 2 people eating in there. We shouldn’t known and walked away but we didnt. Trusting the Unilocal reviewed we decided to give this place a try. 1. Atmosphere: it looks like the restaurant hasn’t been in business for a whole. There were lacking in decors, in workers and their service. 2. Food: horrible! I was super excited to try their«fresh» raw oysters but it was nothing«fresh» about it. aside from serving is the small oysters that are supposed to be eaten raw, they fed us huge oysters that are supposed to be grilled! we ordered 1 dz and had only 3. The noodles were dry and tasteless. Crayfishes were a disappointment and were frozen so it had no taste to it. never again.

Food is good. The shrimp is bigger than the other similar restaurants I’ve been to in this area. The owner is very friendly. I enjoy going there every time :)

Open on Christmas! Super friendly owner who helped with our orders. Similar selection to that of Boiling Crab-dungness crab, lobster, shrimp, clam, etc at market price. The sauce selection includes Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic and lintogether(everything) at four different spicy levels. We chose the most spicy level– hot. The hot was probably mild level compared to boiling crab. I personally wouldve asked for extra hot because I order medium spicy at boiling crab. The lintogether sauce is really good. It is well seasoned without too much garlic that gives you garlic breath. It is also thick, not watery like some places. We got shrimp and clam, pound of each, sausages, corn, white rice, and lobster soup. The food was alright, the lintogether sauce highlighted the lunch session. We finished everything, clean. It was good. Besides the seafood, this place also has ramen and traditional Asian noodle soups(chicken, pig feet, seafood, forgot the 4th one) which we will definitely try at our next visit. Will also give the jambalaya a shot.

Came here after watching their commercial on local tv. Its situated in the newark/union city area. Look of the restaurant is what you expect, similar to crawdaddy boiling crab style… it was nice. For a friday night it wasn’t too crowded but it was raining and it’s the holidays so that could the reason. Selection wise is what you expect, crawfish, lobster, crab, sausages, corn, etc. As for the sauces, you could get the Cajun, garlic, or the mixture which is the one we got. The sauce was good, thicker than other places we tried. As for the crawfish they were pretty good even though they weren’t in season. Size wise though, not as big as crawdaddy’s version. We also tried the clams which was probably my favorite. We also tried the fish and fries. Fries were and the fried fish was ok, but the breading they use is a bit different than the other crawfish places. Overall, we like the location as there isn’t much options in that area and would certainly come back.

Recently went to the Newark area so decided to stop by and rejuvenate my taste buds with some good eats from one of my top food spots — Baby Lobster. Try these lunch specials from the menu. Absolutely wondrous. Taste just like home.

I wanted to like this place more, but I guess it just didn’t suit my tastes. Service and Friendliness: Russell gets all 5 stars. It’s great. Décor: Like many other Cajun places, but a little bit more modest. 3 Stars. Food: And this is where things fell short for me. 1. Garlic Noodles. They’re very flavorful, but don’t expect too much garlic flavor. A little too sweet for my taste, but they’re unique and enjoyable. 3⁄5 2. Clams(Cajun & Lintogether). Lintogether was slightly sweeter, but other than that, not too much difference from the Cajun. Big Juicy Clams(rare accomplishment), but they felt a little undercooked and fishy. 3⁄5 3. Jambalaya. Flavor was pretty decent, but the rice was all stuck in one clump. Sausages are just like the large Hillshire Farm links, and the Shrimp was way overcooked(tough). 2⁄5 4. Catfish & Cajun Fries: Very standard. What you can expect from fried fish and fries. They coat their fries in something a little extra, but I don’t feel it contributes much. 3⁄5 At the end of the day, I’d give it a 3⁄5 overall. It’s a decent place to eat for sure, and probably worth a try for those curious. But there are many other superior Cajun places to eat in the area. However, I would say if you prefer a slightly more ‘Asian’ flavor to your Cajun food, this is probably the place to go.

I was fairly skeptical about eating here since the reviews weren’t so promising when it first opened. But I’m really glad that my boyfriend loves Cajun food. That and convenience so we ended up ordering take out last month. I’m so glad we did! The lintogether sauce is so flavorful! Just be very wary if you can’t eat spicy food. Order mild or even opt for no spicy seasoning as they can sometimes be heavy handed with the spiciness. The shrimp, crawfish, wings, fried catfish and Cajun fries here are all really good. My favorite thing is probably the Cajun fries. They batter it in something… It’s amazing. And for $ 3 I can’t complain at all. I’m just worried that this place won’t be around much longer. Whenever we pick up dinner here on the weekends, we’re usually the only customers. Sometimes we see one or two tables occupied. Lastly, if you order the chicken wings to go, ask for the sauce to be on the side. It makes them all soggy once you get home. I prefer the wings to still be crispy and I can dip them into the sauce. That and the sauce is really really spicy in my opinion.

I really like this place and can’t wait to eat here again. This area finally got a «boiling crab» style restaurant. They have a unique flavor to their sauce that is quite tasty. The prices for the seafood is reasonable. They were not very crowded, although I came here a couple weeks after they opened. I hope that they have picked up business since then. The only complaint I have is the awkwardness of the front door. It is NOT the door that faces the parking lot but off to the side.
