This is a very nice, small museum. We went to the tribute to the four chaplains. That was a very moving event. You can find their story here: They have an online database where you can search for relatives that may have received a Purple Heart award. If you know someone who received the medal and is not in the database, they can help you get them enrolled.

Nice museum. its place is a little out of the way for something that should be more meaningful and really needs something like this in Washington DC or something. This is next to and on the last encampment site of the continental army, which is kind of cool. Wish there was a bit more, but this does a great job in honoring those wounded in the line of duty.

Great place to view history and get a hands on feel of some of the artillery used during the formation of America. Plenty to see and read here… and for those who prefer to listen three separate pods have recorded stories of the wounded. The only thing this place is missing is a solid lecture and/or author series. Being so close to West Point I’m sure they could get renowned presenters on the history of America, military and reviews of battles. Call me the historic critic but I’ll hold the 5th Star until that begins to happen. Still I encourage everyone to take a visit. It’s free and it doesn’t take long before you feel the impact of the sacrifice of your fellow Americans have given for our country.

This place is simply amazing. It looks really small from the outside, but set aside a full day to check out this place devoted to soldiers, their history, & current events as well. Very friendly & helpful staff. Free entry, though they happily accept donations(and you’ll want to donate after you’ve seen this place). You can look through computer files of men & women who’ve received the Purple Heart. You can also enter family members’ names into the directory if they aren’t there.(We entered my grandfather.) There are videos, photos, timelines, cannons, weapons on display, uniforms, letters from(& to) soldiers. Beautiful building. Beautiful grounds. Breathtaking. I believe the occasionally have education events for children of all ages(including adults), and sometimes people dressed as soldiers. Definitely a wonderful place to experience. There is also a gift shop where you can purchase books, post cards, & other memorabilia.
