This place is a gem that belies its rough exterior. Isamar brings fine dining and delicious food to Carroll countians. Never mind that the exterior of this small but delightful restaurant looks like a roadhouse. The food is locally sourced and prepared to perfection. Nachos with meat sauce, veggies, and cheese for appetizer, yummy. Pork chops with European style garlic sauce, mashed potatoes, with skins and butter, and fresh broccoli florets for entrée. Dessert tray of a half dozen different cakes, all made in-house, was presented at the end of the meal. Delicious tres leches cake and cheesecake were the perfect ending. Don’t pass up this place. This evening my wife’s birthday was celebrated with another couple with a wonderful meal with Isamar’s Comfort Food. The appetizers, entrees and desert were superb. The flautas of roasted chipotle chicken wrapped in a soft tortilla shell and topped wth Isamar’s special sauce were tasty with just the right amount of zing. The quesadilla of shrimp with cheese, onions, green peppers, and tomatoes in the folded tortilla was the best I ever had! The two women had chicken that was melt in your mouth ridiculous! Chicken Coron, slow braised for six hours in red wine sauce, mushrooms, onions and baby carrots was served over mashed potatoes and served with French baguette. The men had grilled 10 oz. NY strip steak with sautéed pearl onions, mushrooms, and baby carrots on bed of mashed potatoes, with French baguette. Both entrees were yummy scrumptious. I haven’t had a steak like that. The seasoning and tenderness were perfect. Desert was tres leches birthday cake to round out a perfect evening of food and conversation with good friends. CLOSED!

Probably the worst food I’ve ever had. Everything tasted like it came out of a bag or was pre-frozen. Anyone reviewing here must be a family or a friend.

Very good and clean. Everything was freshly made and the service was excellent. Don’t miss this hidden gem of New Windsor. Interesting menu mix but very good.

The food is freshly made and cooked to order. The quality of the meals are excellent with the Spanish/Central American food being the standouts. There are standard American choices also. We had the nachos as an appetizer and fish tacos and chicken mojito as entrees and everything was outstanding. If you are passing through New Windsor or live in the area you have to stop by and try this place-you will be glad you did.

We heard this was a great family owned restaurant and we weren’t disappointed. If you haven’t been there yet, get in the car! I had a simple hot roast beef sandwich that was tender, lean, and was served with some of the most delicious gravy I have ever tasted. We are headed back soon for the Carne Asada. Oh, and if you would like a beer or glass of wine with your dinner, you can bring your own. There is a liquor store right next door so my husband picked up a six of Stella Artois… our waiter was one of the owners and he offered to put the extra bottles in the cooler for us. Nice people and great food at family friendly prices.

We stopped here after our kids soccer game and had the specials and they were very good. Crab cakes and Steak Burritos were delicious. We will be back.

I overheard a couple talking about this restaurant at Jeannie Bird Bakery. Their conversation piqued my interest. «Chef from El Salvador, French trained. Creates and cooks to order as well as menu items.» Being vegetarian who eats fish(pescatarian), I called Isamar and asked her what the menu offered. I called a friend and we drove out that evening. After looking at the menu which is chock full of comfort favorites, I asked Isamar to prepare something she thought I might like with some Latin American flavors. My friend ordered the same. The plate she presented was beautiful. Perfectly grilled salmon, delicious seasoned rice, flavorful black beans and grilled, rolled tortillas. We sent clean plates back to the kitchen. Please do not underestimate the location of this restaurant. Isamar can cook! She puts love into her dishes. Her conversations about food and food preparation are stories. You can see the images in your mind. Step inside, introduce yourself and be prepared for a surprise.

I’d recommend Comfort Food to anyone. We’ve eaten there several times and intend to go back. For dinner, the specials are like gourmet cooking and the menu has a wonderful assortment of familiar comfort foods such as subs, open-faced turkey sandwiches, and more. The prices are reasonable. A perfect stop while touring historic New Windsor, Westminster or nearby Gettysburg. A great place for the whole family.

Isamar is a French-trained chef who can deliver classic American comfort food as well as delectable specialties from Europe and Central America. Tonight, my husband and I both selected one of her specials, seafood and pasta in a wonderful garlic-lemon-butter sauce, accompanied by home-made bread from a recipe from her grandmother. Delicious! The menu is large, the specials are imaginative, and prices more than fair.
