Wow! Stopped in cause I was driving past and the sign that says«BBQ and Beer«caught my attention. They’ve got a pretty big menu but I just HAD to have the ribs. They were really good! I like this place a lot and I’ll definitely be back — this is a classic American roadhouse. In gave this place 4 stars because our took a really long time for my order to come up. The food is worth the wait, but be prepared.

One of the few places that I can go and order anything on the menu and it will be above my expectations. Tonight I tried the 3 beef tacos with a side of rice and beans we also tried the Buffalo chicken strips and a chicken wrap all were awesome. Oh and don’t forget the Great Lakes Oktoberfest yummy!

I was introduced to Bojangles when browsing through offers on a restaurant coupon site. It was a little out of the way but the menu was full of food that sounded amazing amazing and made us take the trip. My girlfriend and I ate there on a Sunday evening while a band was playing. The band was great, but we were seated in a place that was so loud that you pretty much had to yell to hear anything. The restaurant was just okay as far as cleanliness goes and service was pretty good. My girlfriend did inform me that the women’s bathroom stunk very badly and the toilets were clogged though. The food we had was good but some items just seemed to miss the mark. I ordered a rack of ribs with mac & cheese and dirty rice as I said. I was disappointed when the waitress returned to tell me they had no dirty rice. I instead ordered the jasmine rice pilaf. My girlfriend ordered a BBQ platter to sample the ribs, chicken, and beef brisket. She had a salad and we ordered corn fritters that came with honey butter on the side. The portions we were delivered were very large which was a pleasant surprise. My ribs were really pretty good with the BBQ sauce being sweet style but not overly so. There was even a side of it in case you needed more. I have to say that the ribs were slightly overcooked as some areas were too charred to really enjoy eating. The mac & cheese was fantastic and I don’t say that lightly. It was probably the best thing I had. Unfortunately the jasmine rice pilaf while good in flavor, was crusty and stuck together. You could tell it had been sitting and had been scraped from a dish or pan as it was still holding the shape of the mold it was in. My girlfriend enjoyed her ribs but while the chicken and brisket had good flavor, both were really dry. Her salad was pre-dressed and was drowning in dressing. The romaine lettuce was nice to have over bagged salad mix, but the dressing hurt it. We both liked the corn fritters and accompanying butter, however they seemed to be overdone as well and looked like they were cooked in oil that was in need of changing. Overall, I feel that this place is worth a return visit at some point. However, there were so many things that didn’t come out right that I’m not sure the price and trip out of the way makes it worthwhile for the few things that were very good.

Conveniently located just west of E. Palestine on State Route 14 this restaurant is easy to get to from the Boardman, Columbiana, and western Pa. area. Formally known as Neil’s Restaurant back in the day when I worked next door to Red’s Log cabin, Bo Jangles has been converted and promoted as a honky-tonk BBQ place featuring it’s meat entrees. This family owned restaurant is not much to look at on the outside except for the electronic advertising sign in front which catches your eye only because it is so out of place with the surrounding countryside. It’s large parking lot is accomodating but in need of repair. To be clear, I write this not only based on one visit but this was my 3rd time there, the other 2 times weren’t quite as pleasant. The prior time was 2 weeks ago when we left after 10 minutes because there was a problem with the heating and there was no bartender, so our waitress struggled to concoct the first drink ordered. Hoping this was just an anomaly, I gave it another try but with the decisiveness this would be it. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and promptly seated. First impression, the place is dated; old booths and even worse carpeting. My friend took her coat off as did I but she soon put her coat back on and remarked her feet were cold. I had already noticed not only were my feet cold, but my legs as well, however I was able to tolerate having my coat off being I was wearing a sweater. A family that came in after us sat down at a table over from us; in 10 minutes they asked to be moved because they were cold. We noticed all the servers are young and in tie-dye tops which made them easy to recognize as an employee. Within a minute our server identified herself as Misty and took our drink order. She returned and answered every question my friend had as I already knew what I was ordering. I was impressed that she had tried so many different dinners and gave her honest opinion of each when asked. I’ve read a number of reviews on Bo Jangles on various sites and one common thread was how bad the service was. Well, if you get Misty as your server you will not have any complaints; pleasant, knowledgeable, good sense of humor, attentive, and accommodating. The menu has a very nice variety of chicken, pork, ribs, steak & seafood. They even had a section devoted to tacos, burritos, & wraps. The wait time for our food was the usual 20 minutes, served all at once. My friend had the fried shrimp dinner; she is very picky and finicky but she loved the shrimp so I had to try some. Immediately Misty came over to see if everything was alright. I must say for a $ 10.99 dinner the shrimp was very good, perfectly cooked with the right amount of breading. Her salad was so-so as many house salads go but they did use Romaine lettuce instead of the bagged iceberg lettuce many places serve. For $ 15.99 I got the ½# prime rib, medium rare. A nice, thick cut of meat cooked medium rare but under seasoned. I was impressed though, that it came not only with au jus but with a smokey horseradish sauce. More impressive was the fact that my baked potato came with a convenient holder containing freshing chopped chives, real bacon bits, and sour cream. Although there was nothing special about the potato itself, you can build your own. My other side was the green chili cheddar grits. Again, my finicky friend raved about how good they were, I mean we’re in Ohio. These were better than what I’ve had in Florida. Overall, our bill with 2 wines &2 beers came to less than $ 42, about $ 10 less than expected. The service was excellent and friendly, the food was good, and the other customers seem to enjoy themselves, lending to a friendly atmosphere. Just know that the décor is not going to impress you and dress warmly, especially your feet and legs. Just as we were leaving(8pm.), live entertainment beginning. Their lounge was pretty full but the music did not seem overly loud in the dining area but I could see where some may complain.

This restaurant needs a good cleaning! My first impression walking in made me want to walk out, but we gave it a try. After ordering the platter for two, we learned they were out of pulled pork. We think they should have told us that when they gave us the menu as many of the dishes involve the option of pulled pork. We both had the BBQ ribs with baked potato and the BBQ beans. My ribs were moist and tender, but my husbands were overcooked and dry. The BBQ sauce is good. Baked potatoes were luke warm. The beans were tasty. I won’t be coming back. Too dirty and looking out the back and seeing the poor dogs chained to the fence and the trash all over the yards turned my stomach. That and the horribly bad karaōke made for a bad experience.

Great ribs and BBQ. Awesome prices. Great sauce. We tried the corn fritters, green chili cheese grits, ribs, chicken Malibu, and pork BBQ. The ribs and BBQ were great but unlike most BBQ joints, there was only one BBQ sauce available. The corn fritters were good with a honey butter, and the grits were awesome. The ribs fell off the bone and the sauce was good and tangy. q The chicken was horribly dry and overcooked — that was the cooks mistake. The recipe seemed to work well. For the price, you can’t beat this place for ribs.

BoJangles is an odd joint. While it is not the prettiest on the exterior and features down right strange décor on the interior, if you can get past the oddities you can get some really great food here. In brief description of the atmosphere– the walls have randomly placed record album covers stapled to them(in a bad way), behind the stage a politically incorrect mural of a figure in black face is largely featured, in the ladies room there is a very inexpensive piece of lingerie hung carefully as a wall piece, the men’s room boasts an authentic gynecological exam table, and the fenced in backyard of the compound houses unchained wolves. I’m not joking believe it or not… but if you want some amazing food — head on in. I recommend the you start with pork egg rolls with Thai chili sauce. They are perfectly spicy and crispy. Add their corn fritters, they are consistently the best I’ve ever had. The barbecue meats have all been delicious but do not miss the brisket. They feature a dry rub flavored brisket that is perfectly tender and flavorful each time I order it. The best option for side is the incredible chili cheese grits. When your bbq sauces mix with the grits, a perfect mouthful of flavors result. It may sound bizarre but this odd roadside joint repeatedly puts out delicious meals and makes a new customer of every friend I’ve ever taken there. Eska Paumier

Decent food as barbecue is a favorite of mine, but not spectacular. We had to listen to two bands at once as they play the stereo at the same time as the live music in the next room. The waitress was not very attentive considering they were not busy. Also the meat was ice cold. Is that on purpose or did they forget to rewarm it? Worth trying if it is convenient for you. Not worth traveling for.
