Had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Bacon was burned to a crisp! Hamburger was very dry and flavorless. Fries were cold and of lower quality than McDonalds fries. The inside of this joint is so old and outdated, how do they stay in business? Probably because New Ulm doesn’t have many options!

One of my friends just stopped there to eat on the way to their destination. $ 2 for a half-cup of applesauce for their baby. Think one packet from the Mott’s 6-pack of applesauce from the grocery store. The advertisement said, authentic German food. The menu descriptions were good. Waitress did okay. The food was horrible. The brat look liked a hot dog. The sauerkraut may have had liver in it. The pork tenderloin described with gravy was a pre-made pork sandwich meat thing with gravy that probably came straight out of the can. They wanted to tip the waitress but no place on the receipt to do so.

Worst breakfast experience ever. The food was all subpar: eggs overcooked and they tell you there is «salsa» with the«South ‘o the border» scramble and give you a packet of Heinz taco sauce. Sorry folks, not salsa. We sent this item back to the border because it was cold and then the owner begrudgingly removed only part of the cost from the bill. To make matters worse, they don’t allow you to add a tip to a debit/credit card. The waitress shouldn’t have to suffer from poor ownership/management. As former waitstaff, we were appalled at the lack of caring these owners showed for their cuisine, their customers and their personnel. Rest assured we didn’t leave the waitress hanging.

I was one of the first waitresses at DJ’s when they opened up in the 90’s and, other than the décor, this place has hardly changed. This place gets crazy on Sundays after church lets out, so get there real early or wait until after noon. Their food is good, huge portions, and the chicken is a favorite. I prefer hitting this place up for breakfast. The service is great sometimes, and other times not so much. I think it’s fairly normal for a local spot such as this — if you’re 16 and you have to open the joint at 5am on a Saturday, you’re probably not gonna be a happy camper. Or maybe that’s why I didn’t last long here. Definitely stop on through for a stack of pancakes and a bottomless cup of coffee — try and snag a spot at the bar if the old-timers haven’t taken all the seats already…
