Delicious, authentic Mexican food! This is our go-to Mexican restaurant in the area. Everything is generously portioned and the owner is very friendly and accomodating. I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but my favorite dishes so far are the guacamole, birria and camarones al moja de ajo. The kids always like the quesadilla with rice and beans. We’ve been many times already and will be back again and again.

Authentic Mexican and family owned. As is often the case, this restaurant doesn’t have all the glitz and glam of some hot spots, but the food is where the magic happens. You’ll be welcomed with a smile and leave with a happy — and very full — tummy.

Fan-fricking-tastic. I live in the New Rochelle area, which has a large Mexican population, and as such, a lot of Mexican restaurants. In my quest to try them all, my fiancé and I stumbled on Tlaquepaque. Holy smokes was this good Mexican food!!! We tried Herradura before and that did not even come close! Tlaquepaque is a small mom and pop Mexican restaurant, that has very high quality authentic food for a very reasonable price. We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and accommodating. We tried the guacamole which was fantastic(perfectly salted, very fresh and not exorbitantly spicy), the shrimp enchiladas(which were a tad spicy for me but they were so good I ate the entire plate, runny nose and all) and a trio of assorted tacos(all the meats were fresh, tender and the corn tortillas were very flavorful). Finally we had margaritas on the rocks which were delicious and boozy. Definitely 5 stars, will return!

I went here for my birthday and didn’t know how it was going to be. I was pleased by the service, food, and the welcoming owner. I would definitely go here again! Very delicious! I had the chicken burrito which was like an enchilada and burrito. It was awesome!!! My family all loved their meals.

With so many Mexican restaurants in New Ro it’s difficult to stand out. Tlaquepaque has found its niche as a delicious spot for a more formal occasion. While you can grab and go casually, it’s a great place to also come to celebrate an occasion or have a dinner date. Mom and pop spot that makes you feel like you’re having dinner at their house. Pros: owner incredibly welcoming and friendly. Authentic delicious food. Great tequila. Cons: no lunch/al a cart menu, come here to eat a meal! Cheers.

Tlaquepaque is a restaurant named after a city in Guadalajara, Mexico. I have driven by it countless times and with the help of glowing reviews on Unilocal I decided to tick it off my list of places in my bookmarks. This small establishment has doors and hearts open, wide open! Victor greeted me at the door like we were friends already. I didn’t know what to order so I left it up to him. The specials all sounded amazing but I decided to go with the shrimp enchilada which I could barely finish. As a quick start I always like to try the beef tacos since a simple dish always clues you in to the authenticity of the menu. I am very happy to say that it’s on the mark. To accompany the meal I had two fresh sauces, one was spicier that the other. They both tasted fresh. On to the main course. The three enchiladas had a very generous portion of shrimp stuffed inside topped with some greens in a well balanced savory sauce that didn’t overpower the dish. The portions are large enough to share. It was a fantastic meal. But what really stands out is the warmth of Victor and his willingness to please so effortlessly. The story dates back to the old country with a fantastic journey to the East Coast of the US. The recipes originate from his loving grandmother who’s soul pours through in every bite. It reminded me of precious times eating with my grandmother and her genuine concern to be fed well and enjoy the food. Victor’s wife is the star in the kitchen, the wizard behind the curtain who has managed to bring us this gift on a plate from south of the border. After a long meal and a great conversation, I feel like I have made a new friend and I’m invited to his home anytime! I can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food with the feeling of being family. Your will be transported to another place with the sounds of Mariachi and colorful décor.

There are so many OK Mexican restaurants in Westchester County. It seems as if you’ve been to one you’ve been to them all. Tlaquepaque is a notable exception. Victor, the owner, is as gracious as can be. His wife is the chef, and wow can she cook. We started with a house salad which was excellent. The two main dishes were chile relleno(best ever, and we’ve had lots of chile relleno), and an excellent shrimp enchilada with succulent and very flavorful shrimp. Not frozen here. The chips and salsa, and frozen margaritas were excellent, and the Mexican coffee made me never want to back to Starbucks. Incredibly strong, but with absolutely no bitter taste. The place is small, the décor is nice, and the Mexican music was the right volume and enjoyable. Can’t say anything bad about this place. Park around the corner in the municipal lot if there are no spaces in front. Please check it out!

Best Huevos Rancheros you’ll ever have! The food here is not only affordable but quite delicious, my husband and I love coming here for brunch. The huevos rancheros are to die for. We also love the shrimp ceviche and fajitas. This is definitely our favorite Mexican spot. Try it once and you’ll be coming back for more.

The food was good and tastes fresh. The hosts are really nice and do their best to make you feel at home. The guacamole was very rich and the chips were made on the premise. Make sure you order an appetizer. Because the food is being prepped as you order it, it takes a bit longer than usual to come out. This place is a mom and pops type of place… simple, cozy.

What a find! My bf scouted out this place beforehand. It’s located in kind of a weird area of New Rochelle but the good news is there is a parking lot so you don’t have to worry about street parking. When we entered the restaurant, it was empty, which was confusing since we heard such great things about the restaurant but we didn’t think much of it. We were greeted warmly by the owner of the restaurant and led to the table. The salsa and chips were probably one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s spicy, sweet, and so fresh. We polished that off in no time. I ordered the coconut shrimp and the salmon with the pistachio sauce. Oh man, I nearly died from happiness. It was heavenly. My bf had the quesadilla and the veggie burrito. While the portions were huge, we liked the food so much, we finished it all, leaving us moaning in pain at the end of the meal because we were so full. The whole time, Victor kept coming by to check on us(but not annoyingly so) and he was just so hospitable — I really appreciated it. Toward the end, before we left, he threw down some shot glasses and we all celebrated with free tequila shots! We are really not big drinkers but we were so full, we knew the alcohol would get absorbed by the food in our bellies so we downed the shots! My only very minor caveat is that during the dinner, this loud, almost whiny kind of music was on and it was just a little annoying after a while. Maybe switch up the music once in a while? Otherwise, totally coming back here!

An excellent Mexican place, near Memorial Highway in New Rochelle. It has some parking on the side of the place, metered parking, but it beats street parking, so that’s good. The décor is decent, seemed clean. The manager(owner?) seemed extremely friendly, seated us right away and was really great. Excellent service, with a sense of humor and helpful. The food was very good. The chips and salsa were very good. The salsa sauce tasted fresh, and had a nice kick to it. Definitely something different than other places, in a good way. I’m a vegetarian, so I tried the Cheese Quesadilla, which was very good, served with rice and beans. It tasted pretty good. I ordered a veggie burrito as well, with extra cheese, and it was very good as well. It’s a large portion, but it was nice, with good veggies. The sauce and cheese was nice as well. My gf got the coconut shrimp, and then a fish special, neither of which I tasted, but she said it was excellent. The menu doesn’t have that many options in terms of vegetarian options, but they are more than accommodating to alter the dish to your preference. We were too full to try the desert. Although the manager offered us tequila shots at the end, which was nice. I think the place has some excellent service and very good food. I’m a bit surprised it’s not filled with more people because we’ve sampled a high amount of Mexican food, and this was one of the best ones we’ve been to.
